@jockeyhanes they are probably safe cuz when i went philippines back in 07 i think our flight was delayed through out the day due to mechanic problem they had in manila they took care of us they check everyone in than they sent us to a hotel to stay for awhile than later that night we just went stra8 to the gate.

i once experience the PAL air bus in my flight back to san francisco from manila. It was awful because u can realy feel the turbulance. and our dinner was delayed.

It wasn't a pleasant flight. Imagine for 11 hours i was nervous. After that experience i schedule my flight in weekends for 747 plane.
