Was Lenny built with legs? Because I remember seeing his legs in his first appearance. If so, I guess they decided to put them lower on his body for future appearances.
Not too sure I get the joke at the end of Rich's interview; are the monsters insulted by being called "cute and cuddly" or think they fit into that category??
No argument there. Henson (I believe) was consulted about making a lifelike muppet, but it was Freeborn who designed him and Oz who performed him. In no sense could it be said that Henson "created" Yoda.
wookie72: Yes there could be such a sense, because Yoda was via Freeborn's design, but was acutally made through Jim Hennson's Creature Shop & was voiced by veteran Muppeteer Frank Oz.
@wookie72: Frank worked through his connection with Henson as it pertains to Yoda, since he was employed with Jim when he performed Yoda. in fact, George Lucas himself was partly responsible for Labyrinth (a Henson Creature feature), so really, Jim & George have this bond, which explains the Star Wars' Muppet Show episode, explains the use of Star Wars references in Muppet Babies, explains why Muppeteer Frank Oz is Yoda, & explains why Disney has Star Tours & MuppetVision 3D.
Poor animal, though its ironic (perhaps?) how he's usually the one hurting everyone...

I bet most of you don't know the answer to this question. Can anyone tell me what the 'muppet show', 'Star Wars', and 'Labyrinth have in common?
DreamsofCentaurs 4 years ago
All three include a contribution by Frank Oz
(Miss Piggy, some characters on Labyrith and the voice and ,in Episode 4 to 6 performing the muppet, of Yoda.
Right?
nilsboelter 4 years ago
No, Jim Henson is the thing they have in common, he created the muppets, yoda, and the puppets on Labyrinth.
DreamsofCentaurs 4 years ago
No, Stuart Freeborn created Yoda.
LaDracul 4 years ago
Technically, George Lucas created Yoda.
wookie72 3 years ago
Yeah, but the design credit goes to Stuart.

Nonetheless, it's only a tangential connection with Henson, whereas Freeborn and Oz had a direct hand in the development of Yoda.
