Final Fantasy is where my heart is dude. My first experience was in 5th grade, I was home sick and I was out at the grocery store and saw they were selling Dawn of Souls for 15 bucks (ikr? Lol) so I picked it up. I never got good at 1 so I played all the way through 2 and loved it. Then, like 3 years later I found it and beat 1 and was like shyeaaaa. I live XIII though, as much as it's hated. First game I ever had to grind for.
I agree Final Fantasy is one of the best video game series out there! FF12 may be different but it will always be one of my favourite FF games :) I think 12 is a very good one to start with. The reason I say that is because of the gambit system. It can be very good for beginning FF players. Sure the battle mechanics are different from other FF games but over all it's a game that's easy to learn.
@PyroDragonXII Yeah don't get me wrong. XII is great but I just think that as introduction to the whole franchise it's a bit too different from the rest of them. I think one has to come at XII like we did, having played more conventional games in the series already. Otherwise it doesn't give a really accurate impression of what other games in the franchise entail.
The Final Fantasy games just seem to take some getting comfortable with, to me anyway. It just takes a while to adapt to some of the gameplay and all that. The characters are awesome though!
@Hadonia37 Yeah I can see what you mean. If you've never played a game like them before then they can seem a bit immense. Character-wise though, they're second to none. I don't care what anyone says. FFVI has some of the greates most memorable characters of any video game, one of the greatest villains of all time, and possibly the most amazing and monumental final boss battle of any video game.
Below - below - below. Yo-ho! Let's open up and sing and ring the bells out!
Ring it high and ring it low! Let them know
that Ding- Dong the shine is yours!
Well, that last part didn't really rhyme, but it was fun anyhow XD
Awww, FFIV isn't that bad to start out with. Yeah, the SNES translation isn't the best, but I don't think it really changes much of the actual feel of the game itself.
Something I noticed about Sequnce Breaking into the "Seventh Level" is that it doesn't display the intro when you originally go into a level.
Thanks for the advice about the Final Fantasy games to start off with, I've been meaning to start that series since I liked Dragon Quest a lot, but didn't know where to start.
@Slimjimmybob Yeah I mean that franchise is just so huge and has such a following that it can seem a little daunting to try and break into at first but trust me. It has a huge following for a reason and it's well worth a bit of time and effort.
I bought Final Fantasy XIII on a whim about three months ago, and played through it in three weeks. I absolutely loved the storyline, and the learning curve was awesome for a first-time Final Fantasy player. I had bought Final Fantasy 1 on Virtual Console years ago, but only played it once.
@blinkkandyoumissit Final Fantasy XIII is one of the only ones I don't have experience of yet but I really want to get it for my brother's 360. I've heard nothing but good things about it really and it seems really polished.
and i also starting with FF 1 Took me about a Week 2 beat it and your right You had 2 do grind for about 5 Hours straight But i Only played The Dawn Of Souls version. Out of all the FF games FF XIII was the Easiest but Has the best story in my Opinion
DID YOU JUST REFERENCE THE MISADVENTURES OF FLAPJACK?!? And my favorite episode no less. Cami (sp?) Island is so freakin' hilarious. I just remember cracking up when she says, "Cami want scrambled eggs!" Ah, those were the days. Oh, and I do plan on getting FFX soon... and also Chrono Trigger. Those are two RPGs I want to at least start with the limited summer I have left.
@RedSnow100 Yeah Final Fantasy IV can be spectacular at times and the characters can be so endearing. Like even though Edward is probably the shittiest character in history, he's still one of my favourites just because of his personality and actions.
OMG! I really need this right now. I just finished watchin an episode of an lp from my friend, Pikamerify, called Amnesia: The Dark Descent and she's in this prison and there's this guy who is like this crazy psycho killer person, but his mouth comes down all the way to his stomach and so We call him Creeper Mouth. But he jumps out and scare them like 5 times in 2 episodes. It's hilarious and terrifying all at the same time.
I love that second Bell shine That was genius and the FF Shine too XD
wht about 13? i realy liked ff 13 but for ff7 i do like tht 1 but ff7 crisis core is far more fun. but i agree with you, you cant beat ff9 VIVI for the win ^^
@MrJamesFord101 I actually don't have XIII yet but my brother has an XBox 360 so I'm seriously considering getting it. I've heard really great things about it. I can't wait for Last Story on the Wii though. That's gonna be one to watch out for.
I have to agree that FF 6,9, and 10 are all awesome games, I do really love FF7 and I'm not a fanboy but it is a good game. I'd say that I can't decide weather I like 7 or 6 best.
@yourLPguru Don't get me wrong; VII is a great game. I just think people can be a bit excessive in their praise of it sometimes while titles like IX fall a bit more by the wayside in comparison.
Final fantasy 7 is very over rated. I personally started with 8, in the same way you are with your brother, my older brother sat down with me and we played it. Final Fantasy X is very easy though you are right, the system in 8 is very different, but man i know soooo many tricks to make that system a joke, i can pretty much avoid all battles in the game and come out with some of the most powerful magic before the end of disc 1. Great Video :P
@Justinian1995 Yeah I really like VIII as well. Personally I find it gets a bit too much criticism. Sure it's quirky but it's still a really great game and fun too.
FINAL FANTASY X IS MY FAVOURITE. Probably because i started with it :P

To be honest I think that FFI isn't a bad one to start with, then again I did start with that one and it is my favourite one.
The thing is, I was already used to RPGs and all when I started playing FF so, that might be why I liked it so much.
