13 years of being a PA. Wish I would have went to Naturopathic School to be a physician. Mainstream medicine is a joke. You CURE nothing. You write prescriptions to help feed Big Pharma! Watch The Brudzynski Movie, The marketing of madness - are we all insane, and Fat, Tired and almost dead. Hopefully you will open your eyes and stop being duped by allopathic medicine.
Medicine is treatment for profit. And you know NOTHING about nutrition.
I'm trying to figure out what I should do in order to get "paid clinical experience" which practically every PA program requires. I'm thinking phlebotomy, since the certification takes only 4 months but I feel like that wouldn't give me such good experience, even though the program I want to go into says that's fine. Anyone have any advice?
Thanks for the great video. The PA profession is awesome and I really enjoy it. I also love helping those who want to become PA's. If this is you, feel free to visit my channel. Good luck to you.
You need the standard requirements for a bachelor's degree, plus 1 yr bio, 1 yr gen chem, 1 yr orgo, 1 yr physics, all with labs for med school. You realistically need a 30 MCAT, well rounded, and about a 3.6 or better to get in with outstanding grades in science.
But some liberal arts majors with a minor in the sciences or extra courses will blow the roof off the verbal part of the MCAT. Johns Hopkins has no preference at all about the UG major.
i'd like to correct, though, one thing the girl in the video said. she mentioned working alongside the supervising physician under which you (as the PA) are "licensed under". that's a common misconception about the profession. PAs are not on a physician's license - they have their own license, own DEA number, etc.. your license is just contingent upon having a SP (or SPs). as the job title suggests, you can't be a physician assistant without a physician.
I'm currently enrolled at pennsylvania college of technology in williamsport pa for the same program. i pray you guys have the most success in all your endeavors. it is a very challenging major but its very rewarding and very much so a major that is high in demand so job placement wont be difficult at all once you graduate!!!!

because women want to take an easy/quick route to make lots of money so they go shopping for an absurd quantity of shoes and handbags, and all the other things they think are style. Same reason why so many of them are also becoming pharmacists.
That's absurd, everyone, including men want the easy/quick route to make lots of money. There's also the 'helping people' aspect that is involved in creating a fufillment in one's life, and women are sometimes more keen towards careers in that field due to their nurturing nature.
Alright, I have known a number of PA's and Pharmacists, both men and women. As soon as they get those paychecks, it's SHOP-CITY. School loans can wait, because they need a thousand-dollar Prada handbag. I know a guy an girl pharm couple, and the guy just tries to save and be smart, but he says she just shops and buys the dumbest stuff.
Also more women watch Grey's Anatomy then men, so the innately think they can be cool in that respect, throwing around terms they've learned from the TV shows.
Face it, girls are materialistic. And with so many of them taking the easy route to get these paychecks, guess where a lot of it is gonna go? Yeah that's right

No, Because PA school is so short (2 yrs) it helps to be familiarized with the fundamentals of basic care and medicine. Different schools have different pre reqs, but experience can also include volunteering, PA/MD shadowing etc... On average PA students have roughly around 3-4 years of previous clinical experience.
My PA school is 5 years long, and you finish with a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree. The 600-1000 applicants for 40-100 seats thing someone else posted sounds about right. Easiest way to be competitive is prior medical experience.
I agree. Keep in mind also that being a great PA is about competence, not about how quickly you can get through. Because PA school is only about two and one half years long, it's important to have solid healthcare experience that you can build upon. Also, being accepted into a program is difficult. You simply have to be a cut above the rest to secure a seat...and even then you still may not get in.

What makes more money, a PA straight out of school or a nurse straight out of school?

I would recon a PA, but a Nurse overall would make more.

Do yall think a Pharm Tech would make a good back ground for PA school?
vi3tb0y04 3 years ago

At least 3.3... Pharm tech is great, but try to get more hands on patient care.

The starting salary for PA is usually around 80,000
JohnnyHalox 3 years ago 2
Is the 80,000 working 18 hours a day kind of profession or two jobs? Do the have bankers hours?
Stylist2Barber 3 years ago
actually PA only work about 32 hours a week

Depends. If you work in family/internal medicine then yes possibly... depends on contracts.

Also, everyone would like a short cut to making money!

Many PAs work in the assisted health care field before pursuing the PA degree. Since most PAs are women, the applicant pool skews that way also.

There is no comparison at all between PA and MAs.
PAs are advanced practitioners that have BA/BS degrees and years of experience (typically) before applying to PA school.
MAs take BP and basic vital signs in a doctors office and typically go to school for 3 months in a tech school.
PAs prescribe medications and do 85% of what doctors do.
By the way, good luck getting into PA school, normally there are about 600-1000 applicants for about 40-100 seats depending on the program.
