  • Im only 16 but been racen bmx for 11 years and this is no doubt in my mind thee damn best movie ive ever watchd and thanks to my dads old vhs collection i found it along with fast times at ridgemont high BTW ON EBAY I PURCHASED FOR 10 DOLLARS A HD ENHANCED COPY OF RAD SO LOOK AROUND THE WEB THEY HAVE BEEN REMASTERING MOVIES LEFT AND RIGHT I LOVE RAD!!!!

  • I had a diamond back coolstreak with white mags wite tires .. Man that thing was sick, I remember walking in the living room and seein it . I shit my pants . Damn 450 dollar bike 21 years ago , wonder what it would be worth today if anything.at about 320 the blueish bike with white mags was identical to my bike..

  • Man this and Dirtbike kid was my favorite movies when I was 10 . Fkn nuts how time flies

  • dude, back in the vhs days, we had rad and dirtbike kid on the same tape, i mustve watched it twice a day for 5 years.... ahh the memories.....

  • these people now drive a wheelchair!

  • I love to find it on DVD !!!!

  • i grew up racing bmx. in Ft Worth TX.. Cowtown BMX . i miss them days.. i watched this movie everday as a kid. i found it on dvd @ebay. i think it was just recorded onto dvd from vhs..still a great treasure of mine. love it.

  • 2 words, "BMX Bandits".

  • Hutch Windstyler. Hot Pink. Those were awesome times.

  • My vhs that Ive had since I was like 5 just crapped out on me over a year ago. That was the biggest bummer. Anybody know if RAD is on dvd? Love this movie!!!

  • "Lets rock this sucka"

    "Alright!"

  • Fuck The Dark Knight...THIS is the best movie intro of all time.

  • I'm going to have "mostly" agree. I had a CW Z1000. That bike was one of the lightest bikes I'd ever ridden. I wish I still had it.

  • i saw this in theater (twice) when it came out. tore it up at Pipeline park as well. Good times.

  • THE REAL BMX DAYS :D

  • Mongoose FS1 Blue and white, love that bike! Long live the 80's!

  • Imagine if we all kept those little shitty GT, Mongoose..etc, parts that used to just lay around our basements! Uh what a Bike I could build!

  • I think everybody wanted a Diamond Back! They were so damn expensive back in the mid to late 80's and into the early 90's!

  • Every time I watch any part of this movie, or hear any of the songs, it makes me wanna cry like a baby! Huh the 80's were so bad-ass! Sucks getting old! Remember renting this VHS with the crazy colors on the cover, and when it used to come on real early in the morning on like a sat on HBO! Fuck Nostalgia!

  • @jaee1 Those were the days

  • Back when this movie was new, I wanted something nice like a GT, redline, haro, skyway, or even a CW would have done. Sadly, I had this shitty-ass Murray that I tried to fix up. I hated that bike with a passion. All the good parts in the world never made it into anything other than the joke of the neighborhood. It was basically the "ricer" of 20 inch bicycles.

  • @Lesrevesdhiver LOL! I had a Murray too, bro! My mom couldn't afford the Mongooses or the GT's and Redlines! Remember just wanting to get at least a cool set of handle bars or gooseneck, or mags for the tires! oh shit and don't forget pegs!

  • Norco spitfire was my weapon of choice with skyways mags

  • 6 people never learned to ollie

  • This has been my favorite movie since I first saw it. I'm 27 now and still watch it every once in awhile on a converted DVD. Makes me want to bust out my Diamond Back which is a Sky Blue Mike Dominguez signature.

  • makes me miss my skyway

  • I still have a GT performer sitting out in storage. Too bad I sold the mags when I was younger, and it's had spokes ever since. One day, I'm going to fix that boy up and ride again. Gosh, feelin' all emotional, haha.

Love this movie so much. Love all the music in it. Takes me back every time. 80s music was fantastic. I've got to go watch the whole movie now, hah.

  • The song is pretty awesome.

  • I got my dad to take my friend and I to see this movie on my birthday. I think we were the only ones in the theater. I got a job at Mcdonald's to buy a 87 GT pro freestyle tour team model ($700 back then). I became really good at flatland and got sponsored by a local bike shop. I rode for years.... I miss those days.

  • brakes are for pussies. bring on the giro or no brakes at all!!!!!!!!!!

  • I ate KIX as a kid because of this movie!

  • Its funny so many people like me here, remember watching this movie and going out riding my GT pro series in the early 90s , im 34 now, time really flew by those were good times. I watched this movie so much I had my whole life ahead of me.

  • sky way all the way

  • i hear that i had gt interceptor man i pimped that thing out iam 36 now also i was also on bmx team when i was 15

  • BREAK THE THIN ICE!

  • I still have my GT Dyno VFR...took it to the bike shop and they said 'in this condition you could easily get 500 for it'

    *not for sale*

  • 6 people are definitely not Rad!

  • I use to freestyle with an '87 GT Pro Performer and then an '89 Haro Team Master and have a boom box blasting Master of Pups and other various thrash bands

  • I remeber skating in melbourne city square, Australia, watching the freestyle bmxers doing there stuff, good days.

  • mongoose expert pro man ,bulldog brakes !All the way ,,,Dyno wasnt bad and the old school original diamond Back was kikass Too !! ANyone got a moongoose expert for sale Pm me please.!

  • i remember recording this intro on a vcr and just looping it over and over, probably 8 or 9 years old.

  • 6 people got worked in flatland

  • I remeber when the movie came out. there was one guy that had a gt performer and and all of us kids would want to try doing tricks on his bike.those were really fun times. I have the movie on dvd, and I just got "send me an angel" on vinyl original promo pressing. this movie rocks!

  • I remember watching this intro and then going out on my 1990 Haro Master and attempting this shit!!! I swear I've seen this movie 300+ times. Wore the vhs tape and the VCR OUT!!

  • the cops used to bug me all the time about my bike

  • this was a cool 80s movie

  • Greatest movie of all time. Greatest film music of all time. God i wish i still had my BMX. In the 80s all you needed was your BMX. I need this and Megaforce on DVD but alas...can't find them anywhere.

  • I had a tricked out Diamond Back Viper with Oakley 3 grips and Z-rims

  • i should have spent my time being myself instead of worring about what other people thought of me during my childhood. i also should have listened when adults told me life is short and enjoy your childhood! man if i could go back with the things i know now!!!!!! man i was a dumbass. if i could go back the first thing i would do is beat the shit out of myself for being so stupid!

  • I had a skyway with araya 48s,hot pink grips,3piece cranks the whole nine yards,i miss those days

  • I miss my Tioga comp III's...

  • Best movie ever!

I met bill allen "cru" at interbike a few tears ago

  • My son's favorite movie back in the day..

  • Can somebody post the different intro where the title comes up as a wheel is sliding into the lens. It was the version we had in Australia. I loooove this film!!!!

  • that was the most rad 2 minutes of my life thanks for the upload squirrelpiss

  • ah the good ol' days :) i'm older now but i can still fuck it up on a bike :) ah the days of torker ll's redline pro lines, pk rippers, quadangles, rrs racing, rampar r10's etc etc :) i'm smiling right now..

  • well that was rad

  • The danish amatur boxing star Torben Keller actually uses this song for his entrance. He grew up with this movie. Amazing stuff. youtube.com/watch?v=kJmZcpvJ_RI

  • had a constrictor with all chrome frame and alloy five spoke rims

  • i loved this movie!! Had a 87 haro master, man i miss those days

  • @dodgeramboggers late 80s Haro (saved lawn-mowing money for a year and purchased it on own)... also, watched Rad as part of a double feature with my younger sister who went initially for Care Bears but ended up hating having to sit through the next 8 times of Care Bears to get to Rad!

  • 6 People didn't have a childhood.

  • Sensational

  • I had a neon yellow Dyno Compe II with black GT mags. holy shit did i love that bike. and a black Mongoose Californian. i wish i was a kid again.

  • @jb68025 sweet...I had a Haro Master and a GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model....I wish I still had them...this movie was f'ing awesome

  • @gr187 Haro bikes were king back then. buddy of mine had a Haro Sport. when i was 11 in 1982 a kid in the neighborhood and a chrome Thruster and we all thought that was the hottest bike around lol. i always liked the Skyways too. there is a website dedicated to old style BMX and Freestyle bikes and there are some really hot old school bikes on ebay.

  • @jb68025 Skyways, wow... good times indeed. Rad - full house TV show chick too! And... Cru! Cru! or Crew Crew! lol...great memories!

  • @gr187 actually saw Haro team perform live once... back then a 360 no-hands 6 feet above ramp was "rad"!

  • I guess 6 people did not own freestyle bikes in the 80's :(

  • I think we all wanted to be on the Haro world tour team! So awsome!

  • Dude I haven't even THOUGHT of this movie since I first saw it in 89'. Great flick and I need to get this song on iTunes. What is the name of the band/song?

  • here are the BMX bikes I had back in the 80's and 90's when I was in my teens and early twentys: Haro Master, Haro Sport, GT Pro Series, GT mock one, Free Agent, and all bikes were custom built with the best parts. each bike cost $500 to $700 to build.

  • 3:08 RAD!!!

  • RAD! me and my brother shared a badass chrome GT and my cousin had a badasschrome DIAMONDBACK.wed finish watching this movie and then go for a ride.

  • @newcastlekingdom Yeah the Diamondbacks and Dynos were bad ass too. Just depended on your style, whether you were a Freestyler or a BMX'er. I was in love with both. Now I'm a car and truck junkie.........most of us from back then probably all are now........

  • Gosh those were the days, Peregrine Mags, ACS rotors, Dia Compe brakes, etc. If you didnt ride a Hutch, Haro, Redline or GT you might as well been walking!!!!!! I'm 36 now..................

  • @BO1974 SO TRUE I RODE A HARO FSX 1989

  • @BO1974 I'm the same age... I had a Mongoose and my brother had a Hutch, don't forget Bullseye hubs, ELF frames, & 3 Piece cranks were a big deal too! Dude...Pacific Palms, Mushroom grips& Donuts, Skyway, diamond-back, BMX Action & Plus...we turned every mound of infield dirt at the ball field into whopty-doo's

  • @BO1974 Don't forget Mongoose, Skyway and Dyno!

  • @BO1974 Yep, I had a 86 GT Performer. Id love to find another one to fix up. Wish I still had all those GTs, Predator and redline bikes I had back then.

  • @rehab98

I still have my powder blue beauty hanging in the basement at my parents house. I lost my spleen riding that back.

  • @patrickbateman54 Bike not back

  • @BO1974 REDLINE is my life!!!

  • @BO1974 I rode a Diamond Back....Brother had a Dyno which I think was bought by GT.....

Having no chain guard, odyessy pegs that on the fork that folded up, laid back seat post, I didn't have a rotor, my brother did...Eddie Fiola, Mike Dominguez, etc and BMX PLUS! Magazine....

  • @Jigsaw3477 Sounds like he had a bad-ass bike bro!

  • @jaee1 he did...but didn't use it. I had a diamond back silver streak which was teal with pink lettering....

If you think the intro is good the credits are better....

Weird seeing Ron Wilkerson doing street tricks when he was the master of the ramp

  • @Jigsaw3477 Dude, I used to well still do, think that trick at the intro where he hops up with 1 foot on top of the fence, was so fucking sick!

  • Respond to this video... OH Shit, GT Predator! That was such a sick bike!

  • @BO1974 hey man, im 13, and im lucky my dad gave me his 87 hutch exel, im planning to fix the scratches and get new brakes and a sticker kit. its all original, and i feel awesome on that bike

  • @OnlyAKnife Good Luck Dude! Believe me BMX's and Mongooses back in the 80's were so awesome! Taking parts from one and putting them on another! or starting from scratch from ordering parts from a Bike magazine!

  • @BO1974 Totally agree. I'm 40... (and still have a Haro Cruiser) ;)

  • @BO1974 I had a white Hutch, with white tires and white mags. It was bitchin' .

  • Thanks for the post. I remember waiting in line with all my freestyle buddies on opening night of this movie. About 1987?

  • @bobbyBMC

    1986 actually....

Filmed in Cochran Alberta Canada..some of the best natural bmx riding trails in the world around that town!

Hell track qualifying races were filmed in bowness park In the city of Calgary! I remember how pumped I was when I first raced my friends around that track...those trees are pretty tight in some spots!

  • There's an ISO of a high quality widescreen HD TV rip of this movie floating around... complete with professional looking DVD menu. Look it up... just a heads up for anyone who loves this movie as much as i do. The short lived official DVD release was an inferior & poor quality VHS to DVD transfer & it's probably not cheap if you can get your hands on it... not worth it for that kind of quality. They seriously need to do this movie justice & give it a proper decent quality release, long overdue.

  • This was when BMX'ing was for the cool kids and skateboarding was for the Emo losers.

  • i want to see him throw the 2nd set of papers!!!! boo!!!! just kidding got the DVD!!!

  • my brother and some of his friends have started a petition to get RAD produced on DVD........type "RAD petition dvd" in goggle

  • aint shit gay about this yo i love u tube

  • I missed the 80's

  • This is what the 80's all about good rock music, new wave fashion clothing, good arcades, cutting edge technology ( like VHS and betamax) the decade of fun and innovated sport like BMX and FREESTYLE. Those days are gone forever.....just like bye, bye miss american pie and the 80's had become an icon.

    P.s: WHERE'S THE BEEF!!!!

  • my all time favorite movie of my childhood. GOD DAMN

  • Good music but beast riden

  • love that 80's track, amazing!

  • Is it just me...Or is it the mixture of awesome tricks and music make you wish you had a time machine...A time machine slash BMX bike...

  • 0:43 I CAN DO THE BACKWARD TIRE SPIN

  • Time machine back to the days of the baby blue Dyno Comp 2. Fuck yeah.

  • Mom took me to see this way back when. Looking back on it. This show was corny. But I did bug my pops until he got me a mongoose bmx bike though :)

  • i seen this n da movies 2 weeks straight trying to do new tricks. i'm 39 now the shit they now do is amazing. we had it ruff back then wasn't that many tricks back then. do anybody remember bicycle and dirt magazine?

  • I can't even begin to tell you all how many times I have seen this movie. The first VHS copy ended up ruining from several hundred views and I have a bootleg dvd I have watched like 20 times as an adult...I used to get on my 1990 Haro Master(bashguard) and try this stuff after the intro scene....Talk about getting pumped!!

  • I'd like to hit Justin Bieber over the head with a GT Pro Performer!

  • @ptorrington why would you bring up his/her name on something awesome like this

  • I can't find the DVD anywhere. Anyone know?

  • @poosmell My mom got this movie on DVD and gleaming the cube using swapadvd.com It's really cool♥ they have so many movies and if you have dvds you dont want anymore you can put them on there and get credits so you can get more dvds.

  • @poosmell you can get them on Ebay......but they are HORRIBLE quality.....like it was home made...

  • 313 people missed the dislike button

  • man i miss the 80's! the best decade ever period!!!

  • En España eran "Los Bicivoladores"!!!!!!!

  • so 80s ! so rad ! love it

  • Thumbs up if you remember Skyway II Mag wheels! I had a set on my Mongoose Californian! When this movie came out I was doing all these same tricks. People would come watch me at the park at night when I would practice. My wife made me cut off my rat tail! HA! I used to braid it cause I was badass! PFFT! HAHAHA!

  • @killersushi99 Let me get your opinion on something then...my brother just got a bike. The bike frame is white, tires are black on spoke rims. He's getting Skyway mags off eBay...so with a white frame, black tires, should he get white or black mags? I'm saying white..what do you think?

  • @Emil308 lol that's some gay shit.

  • @LaenPvP lol what's some gay shit?

  • Man! what great memories. This was one of my favorite movies growing up and still is. 1980"s was a great decade to grow up in. i wish they would release this movie out on dvd or blue-ray. come on if they have Howard the Duck on DvD why not RAD.

  • aww shit yeah these were the days

  • I just got finished watching BMX Bandits, and thought of this movie......

  • gees the stuff they do now on freestly makes these guys look like beginers, this is also when bikes were very light too, now they are so heavy and thick

  • @clevelandiscursed Yeah, you're right. I remember Dennis McCoy, I think it was, describing how he totaled at least one very light bike back in the day.

  • I love this movie! I have it on dvd and still watch it. I never understood how these guys do these flat land tricks. They defy gravity. I still try them every now and then, but usually end up hurting myself! Was it balance? Was it strength? What is the trick to doing them?

  • @LongHairRocker Both balance and strength. Today's freestylers (if you look at them) are ripped as HELL! But most of all practice practice, practice!

  • @BermudaEntrepreneur Cool. I don't think I have enough time to dedicate to it. I'll just keep watching the movie and wishing : )

  • que lindos recuerdos me trae esta pelicula!!! yo era un niño. esas bicicletas no habia en argentina en los años 80. solo eran imitaciones baratas. gracias por el movie..... thank you

  • Comment removed

  • I used to be able to do about a 1/3 of these tricks. If I tried it now at 33 I would probably break my neck on the first try. Oh well, at least I can watch RAD and dream like I used to :)

  • @polarbear3333333333 i agree..lol

  • one of the best movies to grow up to in the 80's!! long live the 80's!!!

  • I AGREE. GREAT TIMES...

  • Had the 86 Haro Sport like Ron Wilkerson! Long live liberty and our right to right to be free!

  • Man I miss the 80's! Transformers, bmx, "GOOD" cartoons, breakfast cereal, friends on the block, and just good times! Growing up sucks!

  • @BermudaEntrepreneur i agree with u 100%. the "new" generation of kids suck! waking up on a sat morning & watchin the "good" cartoons was the best.

  • I was going through old VHS tapes the other day, and found my copy of RAD. So I popped it in, and unfortunately the tapes age caught up to it, and it's all corrupted :( Will have to find a new copy now. But this movie will always be a classic for us that grew up with it.

  • I pay anything to have my Haro Master and GT Pro Freestyle Tour again...

  • This intro is rad, to put it simply. I get incredibly nostalgic when I see this, makes me miss my childhood. hahaha.

  • one summer me and my brother who are 7 years apart and didnt really bond much... watched this like everyday and just hung out it was a great summer!

  • eddie fiola and martin apario were the best !!!!

  • @nben13 yep...both road for GT....Mike Dominquez was great too....

  • they dont make movies like they did back then I would always get on my bmx after watching this movie...good times

  • back in 1985 (when i was 5) id be trying these moves on my ammaco mongoose and smashing the hell out of myself. I found that same ammaco mongoose in my parents shed recently and even though im 30 i thought id give it another go and guess what - i still suck!

  • i still got the GT out in the barn, wow want to break it out after watching this.been along time.

  • Rad is just awesome Ron Wilkerson is a bad ass in this movie!

  • how the hell did he just stand on the gate?

  • Man , i was watching movie E.T. couple days ago and there is a scene in the movie where the kids are runing away from the cops on there bikes. And then i remembered one cool movie that i was watching when i was like 10 years old.

So i didnt remember the name of the movie , i went straight on Google to search and i found it , its "RAD" !!!

OMG , i totally forgot this movie , i didnt watch it probably about 10 years !

RAD intro and bike dance scene are simply amazing with great songs !!!

  • I've seen this movie about 150 times. Not a lie. We 'd watch it and get pumped and go ride after. Thnks cru... When I was 10

  • LOL! me too. I thought I could go outside an do all this shit.

  • This inspired me to go and jump "down the steps" at the local primary school! The chick from "Full House" was in this movie! She was pretty then, and kept getting prettier! :)

  • God I grew up on this movie...I miss those times.

  • @Jizanky Me too!

  • @Jizanky same here....

  • @Jizanky Same here, my GT Pro Series is probably rusting away in my parents' garage

  • @dubc35

What year and r u selling it?

  • this is jus awesome

  • I also loves this movie and BMX. I recently well 3 years ago got a BMX bike, but I really want a original bike like what these guys have. I also really would love to be able to do some of these tricks.

  • ron wilkersons cherry picker is totally flawless. makes it look so easy. that was the ultimate move back in those days.

what's amazing is that todays flatland while more technical is nowhere near as cool as the tricks in this video. i love bmx, always have but todays flatland is just boring IMO. technically harder? absolutely.

  • Yeah, all flatlanders do nowadays is just go around in circles on the front wheel. Yaaaaaawn!

  • I still have this on vhs, love it! Watched it all the time growin up back in the 90s! Damn good movie, even though there is some horrible acting but ya dont notice it when youre so young haha
