@STVG71 You are not the cheese connoisseur you are attempting to portray yourself to be. I'm from Green County, Wisconsin and have grownup around the cheese and dairy culture. My grandparents being German immigrants have made their living running a dairy farm, hauling milk, and working in cheese factories. Monroe, WI is the only place in the U.S. that produces this cheese, and dammit, it's good shit. I've had limburger produced in Germany, yes it's good cheese, but so is the U.S. produced.
This "Country Castle" limburger is not very good at all. They don't produce a good tasting cheese and it will rot rather than age as it should in enhancing its flavor. Try the German version you'll see what I mean.
You children shouldn't be eating this anyhow....it's for grown-ups.
@STVG71 So sorry for you: that you can only base your judgement on "Country Castle" Limburger because their recipe sucks. It is trash cheese that they tried to copy and tried to tell folks that 'this is Limburger' - but their Limburger is garbage. Good Limburger cheese ages as it gets better -CC Limburger cheese rots and becomes inedible - maybe even poisonous. Try a good Limburger cheese.....then talk....CC is trash cheese
@b1lc1s OK. Please recommend one available here in the states. I'm all for criticism but please offer up an alternative. These people are still light weights (In my opinion) because I've never had a limburger that made me want to pound my fists on a desk or half vomit.
She's a tougher girl than me! I like to try everything at least once, I could barely get through one bite. The smells is the worse part by itself, but you both smell it and taste it! That's just too much! Now I hate chitterlings, limburger cheese, and liver in that order! I can eat anything else just fine.
taking a sniff while u open it is one thing, but smelling while trying to eat it is a huge mistake. personally i found that once i was past the smell, it tasted great. the problem with American tastebuds is that people here have developed a preference for bland foods, and little variety. I on the other hand am the exact opposite. I developed a liking for the unusual, the strong overpowering flavors, and lots of variety.
No references?? Pretty sure that picture and the description at the beginning came word-for-word off of the Wikipedia website. Might want to reference it...

@b1lc1s Do you realize they are the only Limburger producing cheese maker in America? It's the freshest available. It's really good cheese.
