  • Why is it telling me to buy "Music of the Night" instead of "Do You Hear the People Sing"? Haha! :)

  • lmao, this music video was great :)

  • I started to sing out of rage seeing that Taylor Swift was offered the role of Eponine

  • @LivesAmongWolves I thought she was offered Corsette?

  • I wish someone would come up with a musical about the Paris Commune or the Occupy Wall Street movement. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!

  • great... i need guitar tab so any help will be greatly appreiciated

  • Don't be silly...this song is about as Champagne Socialist and Cocktail Communists as it gets...for goodness sake.....a) its Victor Hugo b) a Westend musical! c) it is taught at all the best Private schools in the commonwealth....PLEASE! ...I don't know any Republicans who has not sang this for their boys choir!...this is about as rebellious as the Jean Paul Gaultier's take on the Commies grey suit! :) Its a fabulous musical and it made me cry when they all dropped dead but Social realism! :)

  • Is this song considered socialist? I hear a lot of conservatives who hate this song and les miserables in general. I guess it can be considered extremely leftist as it encourages change and reform from the status quo...

  • @DarkMagus1985 How could anyone hate this musical? I mean, I understand, some of the more extreme conservatives have taken leave of their faculties, but why would they hate this when it's not really modern politics?

  • Comment removed

  • @KingLeonidas3267 I heard that some protesters sang this song in Wisconsin and it went viral. Several Conservative sites hosted forums on the hate of the Occupy Wall St Movement and the liberals who sang this very song. They see this song as pretentious and a sign of liberalism being socialist etc. Just look up on youtube Wisconsin and this song and protests you should find the video. XD

  • @DarkMagus1985 Of course. I find it a bit strange how anyone could follow a political ideology to the point that they are literally anti-progress. No matter, they're just missing out on some of the few good things in life, I guess.

  • @KingLeonidas3267 Here's a video link on the protesters singing!

    youtube.com/watch?v=uNsnbLqgLK0

  • What's the name of this movie?

  • @God00791 Les Miserables?

  • @DrHooty911 I meant more than Les Miserables, because there are different versions of the movie, I'm not stupid.

  • @God00791 Dude, chill, don't get mad at me. Put more detail into your question next time.

  • @DrHooty911 I'm not mad haha, you just answered like you think I'm stupid according to me, I really though that you would understand and give me examples.

  • @God00791 All I can find is a version made in 1998 (looks like the film) directed by Bille August, staring Liam Neeson, Geoffrey Rush, Uma Thurman, and Claire Danes.

  • #OccupyLesMiz

  • Actually, 43 PEOPLE MUST BE DEAF!!!

  • 43 people hate french people.

  • four years after this is when les mis school edition was created

I found out from cameron's speech at the end of the concert last year

  • 43 People cant hear the people singing

  • wowww luv this song and this video is kind of scary but really well made!

  • what was that

  • We are the 99%

  • @Arwyroe yes and we need to organize between countries communicate and wake up

  • @Caramoon100 we need to be one force

  • @Arwyroe I think that we need to enter in resistance. First write down what revandication from people in all countries and take action accordingly. Now or never. We will have less and less. We must ask for a fair distribution of wealth, a system that really respect people, health, environment and not destroy everything uses all natural ressources, use and abuse people... We don't care about useless economic growth while people die, have miserable lives. We must cut down multinational and banks.

  • @Caramoon100

Only one thing to say...I think your brilliant

  • @roberlan3594 I saw Le Mis in at the Shea's Performing Arts Theater years ago. Colm Wilkerson was "supposedly" going to sing Vealjean. He didn't appear and a stand in by the name of Ivan Rutherford, I believe, took the lead. Once the dude opened all four barrels of his tenor carbuerator, it was like Colm who??? That dude Ivan could SANG!!!!!

  • hey any chance you can e-mail this song to me? I wanna make a music video with it

  • 41 people died in this video

  • @F2702024X LOL! Amazing comment!

  • @F2702024X "41 People died in this video" But then why would they dislike it? They were part of something so beautiful! The French Imperial Troops disliked this!

  • The third and final repeat of the chorus sends shivers down my spine every time...

  • gotta sing this in chorus (:

  • les miz foreva!

  • the most intence, motivating 2:15 mintues of my life!

  • sorry but this did not impress me. I'm a huge les mis fan but this was not something I enjoyed. Had you had specific characters chosen to sing those lines rather than just the same guy and had the scenes matched the words a bit more, than I'd like this.

  • I never knew old days were literally grey.

  • 39 people are slaves.

  • @RamenSlasha

That contradicts the point of the song.

  • This song is hard to get out of your head once you hear it.

  • 39 people are content being slaves

  • VIVE LA FRANCE :D

  • @tsusho49

    VIVA LA REVOLUTION

    VIVA LA ESPRIT DU TEMPS

    LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTION

    LANG LEBEN ZU ZEITGEIST

LONG LIFE TO THE SPIRIT OF THE TIME

    ITS TIME FOR REVOLUTION!

  • 39 people don't believe in democracy

  • @darthgrahf

thomas jefferson is quoted as saying "democracy is 51% of the people taking away the rights of the other 49%" democracy is false the only true freedom is anarchy ... and no anachy is not chaos... anarch is liberty, "LIBERTY: a concept in political philosophy that identifies the condition in which human beings are able to govern themselves, to behave according to their own free will, and take responsibility for their actions"

no one can represent you but you and teh same is for me

  • @kenmabie so what happens when someone commits murder in this anarchic state you want? Do they get away with it? Or do the get beaten to death by a lynch mob? Without a Police force and a Judiciary There will be no means to enforce justice. Anarchy Is incapable of dealing with the problems of real life. It is a nice Idea but in practice it will have the effect of throwing developed communities into a medieval, kill or be killed society. That surely would be a step backward for the human race.

  • @tiamonke Oh pipe down, I do not want to hear your love fest for authority.... We need police and the judiciary you say? So then for what? So they can protect the rich and damn everyone else from making something of themselves? So then they can turn a blind eye to the people in power who BLATANTLY break the law (ie Like George Bush and Barack Obama launching unconstitutional wars) and crack down on people who might just be living their lives? You have a lot of learning to do.

  • @MPP316 thank you :) please check out thevenusproject(dot)com the society we are trying to achieve is a resource based economy, the venus project is beyond politics, poverty and war and welcome to the movement brother/sister :)

  • @MPP316 you comments betray your ignorance. You say I have a lot of learning to do yet you are the one proclaiming that the world would be a better place without police. Bush and OBAMA don't come into this discussion. Just because they find it easy to evade international law, this does not mean that law does not work and is not something that should be enforced. You show your immaturity when you say that the police 'damn everyone else from making something of themselves'. this is laughable.

  • @MPP316 You say that the police 'damn everyone else from making something of themselves'. Actually the Law allows people to live, work and trade in safety and guarantees property rights. Peoples livelihoods depend on knowing that their money and property is protected by law. If we got rid of the police and judiciary then this protection would disappear and there would be nothing stopping people from committing theft or any crime for that matter. How does this make for a more stable society?

  • @tiamonke thomas jefferson is quoted as saying democracy is 51% of the people taking away the rights of the other 49%... the country of america is founded on liberty liberty is not = to democracy... liberty is = to anarchy, see deffinition above, also in the "anarchistic society" i want to achive you wouldnt be able to kill another person, i suggest you learn about "the venus project" its beyond politics poverty and war... and its the only way our world wont destroy itself... solutions not laws

  • @kenmabie please tell me what would stop people being able to commit murder in this venus cult you want to create.

  • @tiamonke there would be no need for murder, people murder for only a few reasons, psychopathy, money, moment of passion, and for resources, i suggest you watch the films zeitgeist 2 addendum and zeitgeist 3 moving forward both found on youtube for free, also i am not the originator of the venus PROJECT , jacque fresco is the founding father of the venus PROJECT, it is in no way shape or form a cult , cults rely on control of people, to make them uniform and to control them

  • @tiamonke in the venus project there will be no need for laws, take drunk driving for example, right now we as human beings have the technology to rid the world of drunk driving related fatalities and injuries, bullshit you claim? how you ask? simple, your computer has voice recognition for speak to type correct? you have a gps inyour car right? and we have all seen mythbusters where jamie and adam make a full sized rc car... 1+1+1=3 get it? VR+GPS+RC=end of drunk driving accidents

  • @tiamonke now to answer your question about murder... lets take psychopathy for example, people kill for the sheer joy and excitement of it (ted bundy, jeffory dhamur,ed gein, ect...) well in all examples of any killer you pick there is one similarity in all, lack of compation from a young age, the love that, that killer wanted but didnt recive, solution simple, parents need to realize that religion material objects and any other subsitute is not equal to a caring parent who nurtures their child

  • @tiamonke ok well with out children growing up spoiled and psychotc that takes out that reason for murder, lets look at murder for hire (aka hitmen) well since there would be no money in the venus project murder for money would be gone period... that was easy... when people are given what they need to survive (food clothing shelter and love) they no longer need money to purchase such things thus murder for money is no longer a viable "employment"

  • @tiamonke so thats 2 out of four reasons people murder down right . look at that with a few logical and simple soultions i have cut the murder rate in half, lets look at murder of passion next, in a venus project world there would be no jealousy no cheating and not negative passion towards someone, people would have evolved to be civilized to each other , and people would not have the need to lie, so if a girl wants an open relationship she would not feel the social stigmas and would be (contd)

  • @tiamonke (contd) able to speak openly about her wants needs and desires, so her boyfriend/husband/lover wouldnt feel the rage if betrayed by her sexual needs, also since we would be rearing children to be logical and actually think things through (to rid the psychopathy problem) the adult would realize that murder wouldnt be the best possible solution to fix their problem (thats 3 down)

  • @tiamonke and finally murder for survival, in the venus project people would be given all then need to survive, food water shelter clothing and love , there would be no need to murder your neighbor because you are starving and they have food, also there would be no need to have a war with another country because yours is in a faminie and theirs has an abundance of food... (thats 4 for 4 reasons fixed in a period of a few minutes)

  • @tiamonke ah but you say , what about the accidental killings of say children finding their parents firearms... well theres a solution to that as well (all solutions are flexible, meaning they are not set in stone and can be bent to find ways that work for everyone) well i am a gun owner, i do not have children tho, in america (i dont know what country you hail from) every gun sold must have a gun lock with it when bought thats a step in the right direction, but if you want to make sure (contd)

  • @tiamonke (contd) it never happens again its very simple, rfid chips, and sensors on guns, the sensor would read the rfid chip that is worn or implanted in another person and would activate a safety on the gun stopping it from firing at another human being, problem solved, no more gun related murders or accidental killings... but the first step in all of this is to realize that you me the rocks the trees the water the bugs and animals are all the same, we are all made of star stuff

  • @tiamonke think about this for a second in the big bang there was only hydrogen correct? the hydrogen atoms started forming clumps due to gravity right? those clumps then started a reaction called nuclear fusion which forms stars, in nuclear fusion hydrogen is fused in to other elements (helium iron copper plutonium ect...) these stars die in massive explosions throwing all the newly formed elements out in to the universe, making planets, and making everything, everything thing you (contd)

  • @tiamonke (contd) can see from the most distant stars to the microscopic bacterium is all made from dead stars we are all the same, star stuff looking at the stars, there is a myan honorific greeting whic goes like this "In Lak'ech Ala K'in" in todays moderen venacular it translates to "I am another version of you" if people finally realize this, there would be compassion and no longer a need to kill murder or have war, you cant kill some one else if you view them as another version of yourself

  • @tiamonke hows that did i answer your question? please visit the following web site

thevenusproject(dot)com (replace (dot) with . ) and also look on here (youtube) for the zeitgeist films all 3 of them are on here for free

    finially

In Lak'ech Ala k'in and welcome to the movement brother or sister (i do not know what gender you are no offense)

  • @tiamonke i answered your questions below, its simple , SOLUTIONS NOT LAWS, how about using technology we already posses to solve problems like drunk driving , theft or murder...please watch the films and visit the web site i gave the link for below, remember, solutions not laws...

  • @darthgrahf democracy is false thomas jefferson is quoted as saying "democracy is 51% of the people taking away the rights of the other 49%" the only way to achieve true freedom is with anarchy... anarchy is not chaos... it is liberty... you know what liberty is correct? if not i will give you the deffinition below in a second reply

  • @darthgrahf

LIBERTY: a concept in political philosophy that identifies the condition in which human beings are able to govern themselves, to behave according to their own free will, and take responsibility for their actions

no one can represent you but you... no one can represent me but me... think about this... if i were to represent you (like in democracy) would i be representing you are just useing that as an excuse to push my own personal agenda?

anarchy is freedom & liberty not chaos

  • @darthgrahf are = or ... sorry about that the typos... i was in a very bad car wreck in 2005 and have nerve damage in my hands ... sometimes they type similiar words instead of the ones i want them to... (neurology kinda funny like that lol )

  • WHAT!? there was a film version?? I didn't know this...

  • im performing this with stagecoach :) at the guild hall

  • my school performed this musical last night, and are again tonight :) it was amazingggg!

  • This vidio is really sad is it from a film ????xx

  • LES MISERABLES! yes!

  • Replace meadows with desert

    and France with Libya

  • @N001337 - We would, but then it wouldn't rhyme which just buggers the whole thing up.

  • reminds me of the time all the kids in my school began revolting.

Nah, no where near this epic

  • OMG I love Geffory Rush, he did AMAZING in this film!

and this was one fight that was lost, in the long run, the French Revolution succeded

  • @Karatiannadiante it was a very different revolution that succeeded though

  • my school chorus is singing this song and this is the only song that i am excited to sing

  • it makes me happy to know my ancestors were so brave thanks man!

  • 39 people don't have good taste. :)

  • This song is so stirring!

  • Union workers in Wisconsin will not be slaves again!

  • @pravdenko So receiving ridiculous benefits and paying nothing for those benefits is being a slave? Fuck the unions.

  • @pravdenko Why do public sector workers need unions? They work for the "oh so compassionate" government. Unions are nothing but political entities that push liberal agendas and force membership upon anyone who wants to work where they are setup. Ridiculous.

Anyways, well done on the video. I love the play and the music and the movie overall wasn't too bad (especially comparing it to many other movie adaptations of books).

  • @FrontlinerDelta If you didn't get all your information from talk radio you might have a more balanced perspective.

  • @soulinite And if you didn't get all your information from liberal run TV you might have a more balanced perspective.

  • @pravdenko Are you implying that those workers in Wisconsin that are not unionized and have no collective bargaining rights ARE slaves?

  • @pravdenko Correction! The citizens of Wisconsin will NOT be slaves any longer to the unions of public employees!

  • @pravdenko No now the taxpayers will just be slaves to the union.... but whatever works for you right...

  • @irshchuculain We are not slaves to the republic nor to any "union". Do you know your history? The abuse and transgression done by the elite who would divide us and would often underpay us and outright abuse us. The rich who would hire Pinkerton guards and break us bone and spirit. If you knew your history the achievement by labor in getting us 40 hour work week. Ending child labor, wage slavery, an establishment of a living wage. See if you appreciate that then you must defend labor!

  • @pravdenko Union workers in Wisconsin were never slaves. What ridiculosity.

  • @lstogner Do you know the history of Wisconsin? The history of labor in America? When your rights are denied or limited you must stand and fight for them. See its not a union fight its a fight for the poor. The powers that be - the plutocrats will not give us our rights or even protect them. We the people must defend ourselves against Scott Walker and his secretive PAC supporters who use their immense wealth to fight against us. They may have the wealth but we have the vote!

  • Adding this to my favs! Good work. ;)

  • lol at 1:24 why are those soldiers just standing there no wonder they lost

  • lol 1:05 DECKED!

  • What is the name of this moive?

  • @garyleunga Les Miserables (1998) You should be warned, it's the WORST adaptation of the book. EVER.

  • The Chinese people want to start a revolution to end the tyranny of the Communist Party, but they are too afraid of the authority and the military power because of the history of China....

  • Last Sunday, there are some guys called for demonstration in 13 cities, but only a few of cities succeeded and the people were mostly quiet and just stood there, because whoever shouts or protests would be taken away by the authority. The internet was blocked and there were thousands of police standing days and nights in those cities. Please spread this out and show them encouragement!

  • Scrubs : My Musical brought me here

  • for the protestors in Wisconsin!

  • I dunno, The French Revolution that Les Miserables is based from has a very uhappy ending. After they killed off most of the aristocrats and loyalists they slowly began to turn on each other. Then Napoleon came back out of exile to only declare himself emperor. Hardly a good comparison to Egypt's cry for liberty! Egypt is more like Ghandi, Mandela, or Martin Luther King Jr.; freedom via peaceful demonstration. Good song though!

  • @lugench First off, Les Miserables is NOT based on the Great French Revolution of 1789; it occurs in the time period of the Restoration (after the defeat of Napoleon) through the Revolution of 1830 and ends with the failed insurrection of 1832. Second, there would be no freedom worth talking about anywhere on earth today were it not for the Great French Revolution, and the violence was instigated by the counterrevolutionaries, not the revolutionaries.

  • @SteveNelsonBrigade You are partly right, Hugo wrote Les Miserables about another smaller later rebellion called the June Rebellion. As for your comment about "no freedom worth taking as the French Revolution", thats your opinion. Even Thomas Paine himself made several comments about the FR going totally wrong in letters he sent to Jefferson. Everyone including some of the rebels themselves ended up on the Guilotine. Madness is hardly a triumph.

  • @SteveNelsonBrigade BTW both the revolutionaries and "counterrevolutionaries" (as you called them) used violence. Check your history books, I just found mine (college edition).

  • @lugench Finally, Nelson Mandela did not lead the South African struggle against apartheid solely through "peaceful demonstration." He helped found Umkhonto we Sizwe, the ANC's armed wing, which carried out numerous bombings of targets inside South Africa and also helped militarily defend Angola and Mozambique from South African apartheid attack. At one point the regime offered to release Mandela from prison if he would renounce armed struggle, which he refused to do.

  • @SteveNelsonBrigade Who bloodywell cares, we are talking about a show here, why do you have to make it a political issue, Just get on with it and get a life.

  • @MsMinky1 Looks like you just did your little part to demonstrate that YouTube comment threads are a refuge for stupid, ignorant philistinism.

  • @SteveNelsonBrigade So does that explain why you are here then?

  • @SteveNelsonBrigade So how did Nelson get the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 then?

  • 39 people did NOT hear the people singing the song of angry men. Or the music of a people who will NOT be slaves again!

  • some people are very brave but they are the people that wont be seen it is in the nature of their bravery that secrecy is certain

  • This is were Egypt is today

  • @dizhar I was thinking the same thing.

  • Long Live The Republic!!!!!

  • 39 people are democracy haters

  • This makes me think of the Egyptian and Tunisian revolutions now! I just hope they end up more like '89 in E. Europe rather than '79 in Iran, or for that matter the original French Revolution (with the bloodbath, Napoleon declaring himself Emperor & trying to conquer Europe).

  • Does anyone think of Tunisia now when listening to this song?

    Lovely, inspiring song!
