You realise the last few hours you spent hunting down your Excalibur was nothing but training for a bigger, more daunting quest. You look to a dirty brown map and see not three but seven flashing icons, representing the seven trapped maidens. The epic music is melodically twisted as a new excitement overcomes you.
They should remake this epic game with better graphics, if they can make anything better than this. They would probably ruin this treasure in gaming history by trying.

@ChampionRevilo i think he meant they could do a double remake, kind of like the Gamecube Master quest Disc, you could choose between the original and masterquest, they could have a menu between a 2D and 3D version of the game
"A Link to the Past" was so vast, creative, mystical, mysterious, enchanting, stylish and challenging. I'm not suprised it has yet to be surpassed in a world were gaming is becoming more shallow than ever. It takes a lot of "heart' and "dedication" to make a game of this caliber. All the Money and Technology in the world can't buy that.
And by the way, has there ever been a bigger leap in the history of videogaming?

I like this. I´m not saying that all games that came after this are worse than this, but, compare all games to their predecessor, has there ever been a leap like in this case? Kondo Koji is a genius. The man that turned a Salsa tune into the Mario theme also wrote this lovely (if stern) march. It's ominous yet hints at a fallen glory. Superb.

I´m sorry to say that almost, not all, but almost every game ever since (in some way comparable) has been a disappointment. This game raised my expectations so high for future games it more or less ruined my interest for videogames. Nothing compares to this. Nothing stands out like this. Not 20 years later. This is it.
@Lusebusen This was one of the first games I played, I remember me and my sister opening up that bran new SNES on Christmas morning, we got two games LTTP, and some TMNT game (which also kicked loads of ass). Anyway I feel the same as you, it was so awsome it ended up raising my expectations (as did A LOT of 90's games) only to be disapointed decades later

That´s something i like too, to play one game in different ways, different times. About ALTTP, you can experiment and see how much you can do without full gear, all heart containers, etc., it takes a long time before you run out of options and that´s one more thing that makes this particular game so great, and fun to play!
@XularusXIII Yeah well, seems like a couple of people agree with me when I say I had huge expectations on that game, and it lived up to them all and more. Now, take a look at the newest Zelda game. The graphics looks like it´s from the 64 in 1996! Look at Mario Galaxy, the gameplay is in a lot of details taken from SMW2 and that game is from 1995! These are not bad games at all, but there is no WOW factor anymore! Take a look at the recent AVGN review of ZSS, as stated; good game - but no leap.
@Lusebusen Couldn't have said it better myself. Ocarina of Time was good and is generally the most favored Zelda game of them all, but in my opinion it derived most of its epicness from ALTTP. The music, the 3 dungeon/master sword/endgame dungeon layout, Kakariko Village. Nothing compares to ALTTP, and nothing ever will.
I agree, Majora's Mask might have been hated by people due to its repetitive quests and time system, but if one actually managed to overlook the inital shock one might have with the game, in it's entirety it IS A LOT Better!
Still, nothing could compare, if only for nostalgia's sake, to the first Zelda game that actually got it working. Zelda one was the starter, but ALLTP figured out the perfect formula for purpose Zelda proposed itself and shaped the series it is today!
@1600Percent So close to my list! I put the original in 7th place with Link's Awakening and the Oracle titles above it. Majora's Mask and OoT will often switch places depending on how I'm feeling. The rest of the series was way too linear for my tastes. I love games where you can utilize almost any trick in your arsenal to get things done in a different order without having a negative effect on 100% completion. That's why Super Metroid and this game are infinitely replayable.
Zelda at it's best. They made it too cartoony these days, with exception to Twilight princess. I just think the magic of the older games, Ocarina of time included, isn't there as much.

Actually, technically this isn't the music that plays when you first enter the dark world. But that was such an epic description that I'll let it pass.

I think 'Dark World' is a great song. That's when you warp to the Dark World after you defeat Agahnim. You can wander around in the Dark World and defeat some enemies. If you get stucked in the Dark World, you have to use the magic mirror to return to the Light World.

This game and majoras mask are the 2 best zeldas to Me, oot was ok but it lacked the darkness this game and marjoas mask had, zelda games are too colourful most of the time now :(, tp was a copout, hope skyward sword is awesome.

If only there was a dark world in ocarina of time and this theme, nintendo needs to remake this game and no oot isn't a remake of this it has some similarities but that's it.

You realise the last few hours you spent hunting down your Excalibur was nothing but training for a bigger, more daunting quest. You look to a dirty brown map and see not three but seven flashing icons, representing the seven trapped maidens. The epic music is melodically twisted as a new excitement overcomes you.

I always thought the hole Ganon made looked like a rooster. Wasn't very menacing arriving on top of a golden tower being stared down by a rooster hole as a bunny.

If you pay attention in a link to the past one of the girls tell you that Ganon's real name is Ganondorf...he changed his name after he got the triforce...you really ought to pay more attention...because in ocarina of time wind waker and major's mask agahnim never existed...

I think 'Dark World' is a great song. That's when you warp to the Dark World after you defeat Agahnim. You can wander around in the Dark World and defeat some enemies. If you get stucked in the Dark World, you have to use the magic mirror to return to the Light World.

Most mainstream kiddies wouldn't even realize this exists. 2: Stop talking about this the dislike bar, especially when that hit isn't funny as in the case of this comment. It's really annoying.
