when I watched Biutiful by alejandro gonzalez inarritu i remembered the song he played when javier badiem's character is walking on the bridge talking on the phone. this is where i remember that tune from.
This is the best one of the series. In fact all the shorts are fantastic, since they are very different in style and content. Shame they have to have the BMW stigma attached to them, if not they certainly would've been award worthy. Its great that Inarritu was a part of the project, Amores Perros and 21 Grams are unforgettable cinematic experiences. Brilliant short.
@SonOfAlvar Dont tell me how life really is.Ive lived in bloody five countries that are known for terrorism and warcrimes. I just think its too serious to just use it for a commercial....
@wilIiamhawthorne huh? And what exactly did you expect to see from Inarritu? This is by far the best of all BMW films and one of the most powerful, emotional shorts - commercial or not. This is Oscar class material. Do explain though.
good but seemed VERY over dramatised.. They were pushing for something a little bit too meaningful for a car campaign, it did seem like it was trying very hard to be meaningful
this movie so freakin fake... bmw x3 and x5 have absolutely no offroad capabilities... in real life, they probably have gotten stuck in the mud and killed...
Trust me, mate, you really don't. The movies make it very romantic, but the truth is, the things you see stay with you forever. It was the one profession my dad wouldn't let me pursue, and having to live with him and listening to him cry in his sleep and see him wake up to nightmares all my life kind of convinced me. It's all fun and games when you're 25, but the brain chooses to remember only the ugly things when you're 65. Then you wish you would have been a farmer.
As long as the world has places which will haunt a person for life it should be showed so that others can be haunted by it and thereby prevent it.
A constant reminder is the only thing which will work, and thats what journalists and enviromentalists have done for years now.
What can I say, I want to shoot stuff that matters. Instead of arrogant models and photographers who leech of your knowledge. I guess im just bored of fashion and want to record history lol.
The acting, the scenario, the picture, the music, the directing... this 10 minutes movie is much better than all the crap I've watched (and pay for) at the theater lately... Except for Inception :)
@FigurativeSpeech About Inception that is YOUR personal opinion, I have mine. But since neither of us can see into the future, I guess only time will tell.

The look on the mother's face when The Driver tells her that her son won the Pulitzer literally had me in tears. This 11 minutes is more powerful than most 2 hour features that have won Oscars that I've seen.
I don't know whether the scene from Man on Fire is based in this or the other way around. What I do know is that one of the directors was really lazy to don't even find another appropriate song. Nevertheless it's another pretty cool BMW movie!
IF you dont think that this is an appropriate song for this piece then you are obviously missing the point. If you watch again, when the driver goes to the mother, he pauses before actually finishing his sentences. He cannot find words to say. Further more he says to the reporter "we made it Harvey".But Harvey is dead. So the words(palabras) are not saying anything to the dead man. as the song says una palabra no dice nada. It is very ignorant to call a director like Inarritu lazy.
but with the points of view and the same music it really really looks the same as in Man on Fire, can't help it either. However I didn't say this director is lazy, but one of them. I don't know which movie came out first
@8sinnaiG And to further that "y al mismo tiemp lo dice todo", in the verse about la mirada.. I agree completely with your point. Clever filmwork, emotional also.
This little commercial is funny considering Inarrigu's film career is financed by the same crime syndicate that fuels the Mexican drug wars and publishes the violent comicbooks where he gets all his inspiration.
I dont think it is a car comercial at all. Actually I think BMW just helped with the production on the film, and ofcourse facilitated that little vehicle. But it never really becomes about the car. I think BMW is just helping create awearance too. That's all.
Looooove that Carlos Varela song!!!Una Palaaabra no dice nada, y al mismo tiempo, lo dice tooodo!! Every time I listen to it I get moved.
BMW should change the name to WTF . Are u kidding ? The BMW'car has nothing to do here. I can not understand why a good director like Iñarritu accept to make this film . this is why they will never let you be a judge in movie reviews. you dont think deep enough. you dont see enough. these films show how bmws are so effective, reliable and solid they are. If there was a hyundai sorrento there, it wouldnt be very drivable. Even the photographer knows that bmws are pure. he says that he has made a mess of the seats. if it was a hyundai sorrento, he wouldve said ehh :) get the idea?
