  • I love that sound in the low notes, wish I could sound like that.

  • Super!!!!

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • I disagree about his legato... it sounds quite good to me, and I'm very familiar with all the great bassos. I agree the tempo is a bit fast, but that might be the fault of the conductor more than anyone else. Aso for his age... nothing in the score or script says Sarastro is an old man. I think the idea of a younger Sarastro is just fine, for a change!

  • How this young artist sings the role of Sarastro is breathtaking, there are not many Basses they have this gentel, and wounderful Legato .....

  • Actually, it is C sharp at the top and E natural at the bottom. (it's in E major)

In fact the lowest note written is an F sharp, but some basses go down the bottom E at the end to show off, although it's a bit tasteless imo :)

  • It's only tasteless when they can't handle it, which most can't. There are only a handful of basses in the opera world that should sing the low E imo...but thank God for those few!

  • Going down to the low E at the end of the aria is indeed a bit show of. It might be a good vocal practise, but I for one would never do it on stage.

The true basses still have to reach the low E though, because there are plenty of arias written that low.

  • That said - Ivashchenko really does perform this beautifully. It IS rear to hear such a performance from a young bass.

  • Strongly disagree with this. He is good, but he is not at the level of Gottlob Frick, Alexander Kipnis, Kurt Moll or Matti Salminen. At least not yet.

  • I'm a huge fan of low basses, and this guy takes the cake!

  • Beautiful Voice

  • Seems to be the best version in youtube currently (Y)

  • This dude is good. That low E is beastly.

  • Eh, the E sounded a tad sharp to me. But I doubt that that's because he can't get down there.

  • I am not agrre it sounds just...

I heard him singing Osmin's area where he sings a bottom D sow a E should not be a problem for him!

  • Me gusta el timbre de su voz!!! Oscuro pero no exagerando. ;)

  • bravo
