hey i just signed up for car domain cause i seen your car. I have the exact car year in all but I have a 350 motor and HP350 turbo with a 1800 still but I havent put that one in yet. Im still using my other tranny 350 turbo 3 speed auto as well. as of right now im using shorty headers flow tech. I want long tubes but i can find any that will fit in my car with out cuting the frame! do you know of any long tubes that will work with my car?
@guboy1 if you learn to do fiber glass work you could make is custom. its not very hard to do. look it up. that would be wicked. i know what you mean about pouring money into the cheep plastic interior parts that are just gonna break again.
@joevon21 i got a 91 rs with basiclly a Z28 conversion. i blew out the five speed. now its in the shop. i miss driving that car. these cars a really under rated. nothing else like driving it. im gonna tell you what all my friends are telling me. FIX THE F'N THING. lol good luck
hey man i have a 2.8l 1984 sport coupe. is the conversion to a 383 hard? i wanna do it paired with a tranny and rear end all in one go... not sure how much id be looking at and the difficulty...
it shouldn't be really hard. the unibody is the same on all the 82-92 camaros. the only differences are the ground effects and brakes, rear disc or drum, or 1LE. but the conversion might not be legal depending on the state. but here in md. put historic tags and do whatever. you really need a donor Z28. use the trans, crossmember, and driveshaft. it should bolt on, the bellhousing should bolt to most small block chevys. if you are making a drag car go with a t56, or built auto, skip the 5spd.
hey outlaw im getting a 82 berlinetta camaro in like 3 months, 2.5L I4 4 speed manual tranny, silver original paint/interior, i was just wondering would it be worth it to put 10K into it in upgrades like bigger motor(350) with a 5 speed manual or should i just kepp it almost all stock, but the reason why i want to swap motors is cuz its slow as turtles, like i mean a turtle could make its way down the 1/4 mile faster then the car
@mclajam327 nice job on the car buddy, i say go for the 350 and a 5speed. there shouldn't be any problems swapping a 4 speed to a 5. i know what your talking about, I've driven camaros with that setup and boy oh boy its slow. good luck with the car and thank for posting
@mclajam327 some of the 4 cyclinder models have a subframe. idk if yours does or not. the v8 motors mount differently. it would be easier to get one with a v6 or v8 already, but that swap is doable. id say go with an auto, if you want a drag car. the five speeds dont last in racing apps. ive got a 91 RS 5spd. the trans is the second weakest link next to the chassis. now the cars on blocks and awaiting the rebuild. which costed $750 in parts. im doing the labor. so that would be a lot at aamco.
do a compression test to the hole you think is bad, then add a little oil to that same hole and see if there is a difference. if so you may have bad rings.if not bad valves.
My 86 berlinetta sounds the same but ive got the bone stock 305 the only thing i did was rebuild the carb got some power but I want a little more go when i hit the pedal
I hate to tell you this but thats wrong, Berlinetta's where the luxury camaro. They where trying to compete with BMW and lexus at the time but it wasnt working out and they dropped the line in early 1986
ok. i aint saying you were wrong but my dad had a z28 and that had the power windows and locks and then we had a berlinetta which didnt have any of the power options, spoiler, or ground effects/louvers and it came factory like that.
@jonathanyemm lmfao outlaw said it, i would know i gots a berlinetta its a luxury car they just didnt have the big motors, they mostly had the 2.8 and 2.5L motors but the interior is nice
@mclajam327 ... You're wrong sir... they had a 305ci option... I had an 84 Berlinetta with T-Tops, Swivel AM/FM Cassette, and a 305ci V8... althought it wasn't powerful... 190hp I believe... it was still a "big" motor.
I must agree with outlawracer18. I have a 1982 Z28 and i love it. the only thing i really dont like on the berlinetta is the 3 holes on the front nose. Either way stock thirdgen camaros are low anyway. my rear-end is high only b/c i have racing slicks
i dont really understand what your saying, the body is the same for all platforms it just lacked the ground effects, the taillights had a gold bar separating the lights horizontaly, and the front clip is different. and of course the badging. what do you mean? i was not aware they naturally sat higher than the other sport coupes of that year from the factory, but im wrong quite often
Thats because there were no ground effects or preformance suspension packages for the berlinetta you buthead! Berlinetta is the lower model, luckily this one is built like a monster.
NAAAAAAAW REALLY??? i already know that i was just saying i dont like the way it looked without the ground effects thats why i love the RS because of the lips and side skirts it got. but performance wise i of course prefer a iroc-z
i also have a 82 berlinetta, great video, let me guess your the only 82' berlinetta in your area? i havent come across another in my area of southern ontario, i think most have rusted away or were wrapped around telephone poles.
Very kewl that you have a Berlinetta. Yeah im one of very few in texas that has one. hell there's only 37 that i know of that have my exat year, model, and options. there fading really fast. i think within the next 10 year there will only be maby 100 third gen berlinettas left. Thank for posting buddy. Keep her safe
that would really neat if that happened, to own one of the last 100 or so. if your ever coming up ontario way (very near buffalo), let me know, im in a third gen club out here you could come have a look.
Hey speakin of Berlinetta. Actually Im getting an 84 Camaro Berlinetta from one of my good buddys. It kinda needs work on the body but it runs grand. It was a 305 but i guess the engine blew but he got it replaced with a 350 V8. Suprised it lasted this long up here in IN. Hahah
I had a 1984! it was my first car, it was given to me when my grandmother had her lisence taken away at the ripe old age of 80. it was just about dead but what a blast it was to drive through high school. it had the all digital dash and the fuel guage bouced from top to bottom every day of the 5 years i drove it. it actually handled well for being as old and worn as it was. i still have the digital cluster in my shed, i just couldnt bear to part with it lol
Yeah actually its gunna be my first car too! And Im in High School! lol wow thats really kool. At least you got yours for free haha. I really hope i get it really soon. And yeah about the digital dash and what not is all in the car too. Hopefully i wont be filling up that much haha.
Ohh god where do I start. See some people are retarded, and some people aren't. You my friend are retarded. I know you proud of that BUT before posting do some FUCKING RESEARCH. And last of all Berlinetta's where made from 1979 to early 1986. I hope you enjoyed school time little one. Thanks for posting
Oh sorry. I was confused on my info that does not mean you have to be a complete ass whole about it. I was thinking of the Starship Berlinetta. This was offered in 1984 1985 1986. Ive just never seen a Berlinetta besides 84 85 86.
i used ta have a 82 berlinatta when i was in high school had tha 305 in it got it ta run high 14s after alot of money looking back i should have just put a 350 in it instead of dumping money in tha 305
I drove an 82 down here in New Zealand back in 1995. It was a stock standard 305 model, except the previous owner had dropped a strong normally aspirated 350 into it, and had it lowered.
