  • oh, how cute, Microsoft is copying the thumbnails previews from Apple`s dock... how pathetic...

  • This proved absolutely NOTHING. The treatment of Video and full-motion video is what was being talked about in the video from Microsoft, you happless twit!

  • BootCamp is new software, Virtual PC has been around since 1997.

  • It still looks a lot more elegant on Vista and a lot larger of a preview. I'm sorry, but most of the stuff I've minimized on Panther just goes into a tiny little icon of itself, rather than the small icon plus title, hover-preview. And it's slow-as-hell on most macs besides newer ones. The preview on Vista works on even lackluster hardware.

  • Fact is that if you are a professional:

first, it shouldn't matter what you use, the basic functions are the same, so "the Gui doesn't do it for me" is not really an excuse.

and second, you would have to upgrade every 6months to a year.

Now unless you are very successful, you will not want to buy a new system every time, so it all comes down to what you need your system to do, you know, personal preference.

Statements that the one is superior to the other is just BS.

  • agreed

  • apple and microsoft copy from eachother, whos to say that they are working together. look at the new itunes and windows media player. then look at how they came out with emulators first to run a mac on windows then came bootcamp an emulator to run windows on a mac. seems suspicious, what if microsoft made apple to kill its own company in an effort to start all over again!!!

  • Windows XP was released in 2001, and Vista in 2007. In the middle Mac released several versions of OS. So, its natural for Vista to have all the lacking features !

  • This is so funny! You think people will buy Vista because it has live previews of video? Right. Graphics is not just a toy to make things look pretty. It's a powerful tool to create usefull content, but it's useless if the tool is not accessible and easy. WPF allows not only the OS to leverage graphical power but also developers. Sure, experts in graphical programming can make pretty stuff, but powerful graphics should be for all developers. Go check out some WPF demos and what devs are saying.

  • Not, I dont think so. But seems that Microsoft thinks so. For this reason, they anounce it in his presentation.

  • OK fan-boys! Yes this is a video of MAC OSX 10.4 and not Windows Vista, yes Microsoft has no original ideas and it has nowhere near the elegance of OSX. But what the thing Mac fan-boys have to realize is that Vista is the ONLY thing that Windows fan-boys have.(they sure as hell wont try Linux) They don't understand OSX (mainly because they never tried to use a mac long enough to witness the superiority of OSX) and cant ever use it on their PCs.So stop rubbing it in thier faces.

  • That problem does not sound like a pc problem, does it?

It is possible to run osX on a pc, it's just not legal.

It's not legal because apple does not like the competition, they prefer to bind clients to hardware they sell.

Oh and I've tried linux, it's ok for some things, but when i started using wine more and more because i couldn't find a good alternative program for linux i gave up.

  • Thank you! I could never afford a Mac, atleast not now. And I'm happy wiht Vista to the point that even if I could afford a mac, I'de still go with Vista.

  • macs are not that expensive my macbook was like £780

  • And that is cheap? spoilt brat

  • Why would someone get hooked with Xerox while that's the thing of the past?

  • where did you get that earth wallpaper?

    hook me up... :)

  • :-)

  • Go mac's!!!! haha

  • BTW both Apple AND Microsoft nicked the idea of a WIMP GUI from the Xerox Alto.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_graphical_user_interface

honestly every computer in the world ever sucks, Xerox are the true originators

  • Apple had PERMISSION. Xerox Shared their technology with Apple in exchange for stock. Microsoft stole the concept. Wikipedia is not the best place for facts.

Woz was there, Read what he said.
