ok i went and checked and i found out. tb is a common and potentially fatal disease. it is caused by mycobacteria most commonly in the lungs but can also affect many other areas.
more than 1/3 of the world has been exposed to mycobacterium tuberculosis but not everyone will contract the full blown disease. latent TB is most common but 1 in 10 latent infections will progress into active tb which kills more than half of its victims.
