  • Wow...

  • Brilliant! Thanks for posting! I never knew he performed this song live as well..

  • ...the best cover-version on this planet..........

  • fantastikaaaaaa

  • "Wow, that Phil Collins concert was awesome! What was that one he played right in the middle? The Times They Change or something like that?"

"That was nothing honey, what about that spirited rendition of "In The Air Tonight?" Electric, am I right? ELECTRIC."

  • its way too poppy for the serious message of the song

  • @payinattention225

tell that to the byrds, the beach boys, simon and garfunkel, my three favortie versions besides dylan himself, but the best ever was the one dylan sang at the white house in 2008 i believe, his old, horase voice gives the song an even greater meaning i think.

beautiful version, the piano also adds something to the majesty of the lyrics.

  • @OropherThranduil check out the version done by keb' mo'... my personal favorite. /watch?v=U_pcX16yc5c... i hate obama, but its the only video on youtube with it. eddie vedder's isnt bad either

  • Great!. Thank you!

  • I love Phil Collins's music. Bob Dylan's version of this song is better, but this is awesome in its own way.

  • imagine this being sung on some far reaching colony of earth a thousand years from now :'). I like Bob Dylans version the most because it's kind of like sad and envoking the future at the same time but i'm a huge Phil Collins fan too.

  • Very good Cover. Very beautiful. BOB DYLAN IS A GENIUS. Thank You Phil. IT's Great...

  • One of the worst singer ever, in my opinion...

    Sorry guys.

  • @gatorcounty one of the worst singerS. its in plural. trying to critisize what you can't understand?

  • @Logankeller352

You're right ! Phil is THE worst singer_ ever !

  • @gatorcounty

You're right: my ears are bleeding !

  • @gatorcounty its okay, everyone has to have their own opinion, its what drives humanity, differences. I respect yours, but respect mine.

  • I think that atleast 300 of the views on this video are mine.

Holy shit, this is the greatest thing I've ever heard/seen.

  • notice the delay is always there in these old phil songs.

  • Great Song! Love Ya Phil... Keep up the good work...

  • ghm...kao da je piter gabrijel umesao prstice....

  • no matter who does this song, i think they all do a great impression, it dont matter who good or whos bad all that matter is that they keeping the song alive

  • perfect, until the the whole band came in in 1:21

  • great version

  • ...the best cover-song ever................

    Angelo Balzano.

  • I really like this. It's different, but I'm glad there are so many different records of this song. I really have to give Phil here credit for getting the word "prophesy" right. The original had "prophesize," which, of course, is not a real word.

  • I like this much more than the original one.

  • For the loser now is later to win.... Sarah Palin 2012...........

Just kidding, that dumb bitch needs more education!

  • I think its just a difference in tones, here. The Dylan version, to me anyway, has always been somber and angry. Kind of defying the status quo, in a way. Which is great. I think Phil's version is more Joyous in tone. Its almost like he is celebrating that the "times are changing," if you will.

  • @vinniebraz01 Totally agree :)

  • @vinniebraz01 ye its prettied up

  • @vinniebraz01

nobody sang dylan like the byrds, but this great song was also recorded by the beach boys for their party album sung by dennis wilson (if you find the original sessions you have beautiful versions without the overdubbed party sounds and screaming and singalong) and also on the debut of simon and garfunkel (quiter version, beautiful acoustic playing and harmonizing like you can imagine).

but my favorite version is the one dylan sang in 2008 at the white house, so much feeling.

  • With bagpipes ??

    Nice with bagpipes !!!

  • I came here expecting Phil to suck, but this purty good ...

  • @maddymud Phil Collins rarely sucks at anything.

  • @pytko3 -- um -- suck, suck, suck-io?

  • say what you will but this is a ass kicking good version. A brilliant song in essence so cudo's to bob, but god damn it phil!

  • If that's the case then it's funny that it's a folk music standard and one of the most performed songs of the 20th century. Of course, similar things could be said for quite a few of Mr. Zimmerman's songs.

  • Phil has GOT it! Great performance. I was looking for a performance like this, and clicked on this video with great expectation... and yes!!! But I also like Bob's quiet and serious way. It speaks to other moods of us. More contemplative. Great artists.

  • Bobby's alot better at this than phil

  • @dennisisbigger still did a hell of a job

  • yes I know.....And I totally admire and respect this but I was just putting out that I prefer Bob Dylan even though there both fantastic....No negativity intended even if it sounded like that

  • Excellent et efficace.

  • Yes sure! It is Ricky Lawson.

  • absolutely fantastic!! And with Chester as your drummer and Steurmer (sp?) as your drummer and guitarist, you're set!

  • Thats not Chester playing drums its Ricky Lawson

  • look at 1:23 and tell me thats not Chester

  • Its not its Ricky Lawson as Chester didnt play on Phil's 2 tours in the 90's it was Ricky.

  • Comment removed

  • Ok, first off. Phil did three tours in the 90's. Serious Hits... Live! (i have the DVD), Both Sides Tour, and Dance Into The Light tour (I also have the DVD). While after research, I did conclude that is Ricky Lawson in this video (sorry dude), but Chester does play on the Serious Hits...Live! and the Dance Into The Light tours

  • Yes he did three tours i always forget the seriuosly tour but that is the only one Chester played on as both the other two tours had Ricky Lawson on them.

  • I took a picture of Chester and compared them to the video from the Dance into the Light tour and Both Sides Tour, and I concluded that it is Chester playing in both tours.

  • Look on here for drum into for both sides tour and its quite clearly Ricky. Then look at Sussodio for the Dance into the light tour and you can quite easily see its Ricky again. Chester on came back on his final farewell tour. Oh and by the way i went to both tours and have the concert programmes and it doesnt have chester in either!!!

  • @snoozingphil Definitely, it's RICKY!

  • I think Phil did a good job on this one.

  • look right --->

  • anybody got lyrics ?

  • nice vocal but the drums and fake bagpipes are just overly poppy. too much like the carpenters, starting off as a serious ballad and then abruptly becoming some booty-shaking mess after the first two-minutes

  • This is an awesome version

  • @FWYGINOND

    Angelo Balzano.

  • the original is great, but this is a great homage to it

  • Interesting version of a classic....I don't think anyone can touch the original though.

  • Phil just did :)

  • Amen to that. xD

  • Fantastic, great song, great lyrics!!

  • I love his version of this song; It was the final track on "Dance into the Light".

  • Great song:D Why there are always people complaining about the artist? VinceNoir it's sad, get a life.

    But great song eey;)

  • phil you are amazing the best !!!1

  • dirty bastard VinceNoir10

  • seem you know alot about this guy.. are you obsessed?

  • He was in Buster in the 1980's...That film about Ronnie Biggs...The Great Train Robber...

Ps - Stuck it up the Royal Mail...Classic....

  • I do like Bob Dylan, but Phil Collins can actually sing.

  • top tune

  • No offense to Bob Dylan or any Dylan fans, but even though this is my favorite of his songs, I still prefer Phil's version of this song. It's more up to date. Bob's songs are timeless however.

  • He makes it a progressive pop song. It's not what I'd call "up to date". There's more music in it, which is a good point, anyway. I do like it, but Dylan's version directly touches the heart.

  • you obviously have never heard him live have you.

FYI Phil Collins has more talent than 95% of all the musicians to date.

  • I was just responding to someone who said it was "up to date". Progressive rock music takes us back to the 70's, don't they? So I was just saying that, even though I DO LIKE THIS VERSION, you cannot call it "up to date".

Plus, what you say is totally unfounded. Collins was a great drummer in Genesis, but now, what does he do? He can sing, indeed. But don't get me wrong, cause I said I do like it!

  • Amen, to that, brother!

    AMEN!!!!!

  • I don't like it. On Phil's album it sounds a lot more..."rock", more guitar, more drums

  • i like it, but agree, the album version rocks!

  • a live version of this song is really rare.... thanks a lot =)

  • omg omg omg!!! Thank-you mrdodo Love it!

  • i didn't know he covered this, i love the original but i'm a huge fan of phil collins, his version is great!

  • Gran cançó, felicitats per aconseguir-la. La lletra i la música del gran Dylan i la extraordinària veu d'en Phil... Brutal! (Català)

    Translate:

  • thanks mr dodo, been wondering about this one for ages!
