Why are two children alone in the woods at night? Are they supposed to be Hansel and Gretel? If that's the case, then they're probably grateful that a witch came along and fed them!
We used to eat Juffy Pop every Sunday night while watching The Wonderful World of Disney, Wild Kingdom and Bonanza. I remember my sister leaving hers on the stove while she went to the restroom. The thing blew up like the Hindenburg.
@YesYou123333 HAHA!! That happened to us a few times, too....we also watched Wild Kingdom :~) But I loved Jiffy Pop, and that was such a treat back then. I introduced my kids to it a few years ago and they were not as blown away as I thought they would be. I think microwaves took a lot of fun out of some things, and popcorn is one of them!
@nozcr That is Ruth Buzzi. She also did a gig doing the voice of Granny Goodwitch for Post cereal. I had a record album that featured her as Granny Goodwitch. There was Linus the Lionhearted, Claudius Crow, Loveable Truly, Rory Racoon, So Hi, Sugar Bear and Billie Bird.
Thank god for Jiffy Pop. One of the simple pleasures from the 60's/70's that are making a comeback. Microwave popcorn just can't touch this foil ball of awesome!
@phuckizlam "Today the fuckin' moslems want to cut our heads off. What's your point?"
Well, Muslims (fuck you're ignorant) don't come to the predominately Christian countries and start wars to find weapons of mass destruction or to "liberate people" from tyranny.
Just the United States does that.
At least 100,000 Iraqis are dead from the last war, over weapons of mass destruction that never existed.
Gee, those Muslims are monsters! Americans, why they're fucking saints in comparison!!!
@bigbrothermaster LOL, my then seven year old sister blurted those words when the commercial was on (circa 1967). The look of shock on my mothers face, and the unbridled laughter by my siblings...was a moment I'd live again. LOL, the best part was my parents trying to get her to explain why she said that.
they STILL make this style of jiffy pop? I thought it had been discontinued.
If you knew how to make it properly it always came out good with a minimum of burning. On an electric stove you have to get the coils "real hot first". Turn it to the highest setting and get those coils red hot....then set the iffy pop on the roaring hot burner....the second you hear the oil inside start to boil start shaking like your life depended on it.........
i have seen these types of popcorn on tv and i have always wanted to try it,
yesterday i found this at winn dixie and i just cooked some up, i waited until the rapid POPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPing started to slow, it went perfectly and tasted like campfire cooking...my first time too, fun to watch :D
This is really interesting. Did not know that Ruth Buzzi did commercials for Jiffy Pop. Remember her fondly on Laugh In. Now I have a new item learned. Thanks.
Jiffy Pop was the cool way to make popcorn before microwaves, my mom never usually bought it because it cost way more than a bag of popcorn and in reallity it tasted fairly crappy. Moms home made was better.
Also before microwave were the hot-air poppers thay were awesome I still have my moms old one that we had when I was a kid.
i just made it for the first time<3:D turned out great. i was staring at it with a huge smile as it grew. my mind was like "oh shit, holy shit, jesus christ , oh my god!" my family was laughing as i did this. made a fool out of myselfx)
Remember trying this as a kid, probably around the time that this ad aired.Put it on the stove, shook it,watched the foil pop up.Opened it up,was burned to a cinder. Was scared of it after that.Guess would call it a successful failure.
You know the same thing happened to me not long ago. Burnt and scorched- a stinky mess. Alton Brown made some in a metal mixing bowl with foil on the top.
hi,my name is john,im 16,have brown hair and no eyes.if you dont repost this to at least 5 videos,i will appear beside your bed at 9:00 P.M and kill you.
This ad first appeared around 1967, before Ruth Buzzi became part of "ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN". Jiffy Pop was one of American Home Food Products' most popular items- today, it's still available, and marketed by ConAgra Foods...
A fun product given the death sentence by the convenience of microwave popcorn. As the passage of time has showed, sometimes progress is not so good. No one ever got an incurable lung disease or throat cancer from popping corn the old-fashioned way!
There were always some unpopped kernels in the bottom of the aluminum pan, which you got down to when you'd finished the rest. I actually liked chewing on those to finish things off.
I wouldn't be surprised if both kids dropped dead after eating that popcorn. Then it could've just been a PSA about not accepting food from strangers.
I think this was Ruth Buzzy as the witch - I remember getting Jiffy Pop as a kid and thinking it was the coolest! I found some the other day in the grocery store and my daughter thought the same thing! Love it!
That is TOTALLY Ruth Buzzy-- lol it's nice to see her stretching her acting range and playing a wacky character for once... not like that somber, sober, serious Laugh-in.
i am about to make a jiffy pop

Ms.Buzzi had also done the voice of a witch"Granny Goodwitch" on "The Linus The Lionhearted"TV Cartoons at
ABC and later on CBS TV in the 1960's. She did "GGW's"voice for The Post"Sugar Crisp"Cereal
TV Plugs with Bing Crosby sound alike..Mr.Sterling Holloway. Not to be confused with the voice of"WInnie The Pooh".

Jiffy Pop is great fun. How I do it is I heat up one of the small burners to 7 and shake it for about 4 mins.
I've had about a 1 out of every 10 pans I cook, it seems to smoke burn and fire.
I shake it lightly and as the Inst. say, fast or rapid.
EdmDude 2 years ago
Can someone tell me WHY I can't make Jiffy Pop now without it not popping and only burning? I swear I shake that thing the ENTIRE time.
I miss Jiffy Pop!!!
