  • They do still make them. You can get one "new" from factory, using left-over parts from the original assembly line, with an updated chassis and engine and the likes.

    Only costs around $50,000. :)

  • The Delorean chassis came from the Lotus Espirt. The engine is a 2.8 liter Puegot Renault Volvo V6. When the car was new it only had 130 hp. I saw one at a car show with a twin turbo set up. It had 215 hp and a 0-60 6 seconds. For a Delorean that pretty good! I'll drive it!

  • They had the suspension from a Ford Cortina too.

  • just the breaks

  • Well the US spec version had 130 bhp but the euro spec models get 170 bhp.

  • Yea it's a shame that the car never saw it's potential in the early 80's. We'll at least now the company is back in bussiness and you can get a newly built one. You can get a Stage 2 performance upgrade for the PRV engine and get around 200 hp. Actually you can get 300 hp out of the PRV engine but because of the Renault transmission you can only have up 230 hp.

  • I have a TOp Gear Magazine Philippines that says they are working on a supercharged version of the 2.8L 300-350 bhp. With that It could go in the low 5s or high 4s

  • The interior came from a Volkswagen apparently.

  • @jammer96 the US Model was only 130 HP due to the regs stating it had to have a cat converter fitted, the Euro mode was around 170 HP as standard. Would love to give it a go!

  • @ShabbaNasty I have driven one recently and they are a lot of fun even in US form. I wasn't expecting it to be a tire burner. Then again a lot of cars in the early 80's were that way. They are a blast to drive and very comfortable. Kind of like a stainless BMW. I hope to own one soon.

  • i only realised that yesterday i always thought the delorean looked familiar with a renault

  • to me the delorean looks like a cross between a renault 11 and a lotus esprit. have a look at the renault 11 front end very similar

  • I always thought the same myself.

  • plenty of cars are built and sold but not necessarily registered for road use or were imported from somewhere else

  • 2 very cool cars in this clip, the DMC 12 and a red Skoda Rapid!!!

  • Their is a Rover P6 at the start of the video too.

  • Ah yes - both rear engined!

Actually that 1985 'C' rego looks a bit new for the car hmmm...
