Hey Scotty ! I was enjoying my favorite cigar ,and as I was puffing away, it came to me, " I can be my own smoke machine" gotta give this a shot, what do you think????
@phoebuspf Depends upon the smell, if it's exhaust, get it fixed quick before you die of carbon monoxide poisoning. Also, check for oil leaks on the engine burning on the exhaust, and fuel leaks at the injectors and fuel lines. Scotty
@Fishburn Haha this happens to be the reason i am looking at these vid's, have a 99 maxima i started working on and just looking for tip and tricks right now.
@Fishburn Nice tons of life left in it, mine.......mother-in-law has about 179k on it. Has had some money dropped into usless repairs and one bad oil leak. And some blown rear shocks but that won't keep it in the garage.
@nokia26300 Of course, but realize there are different dies for different oils. One for engine oil, one for gasoline leaks, one for radiator leaks, and one for AC leaks. Just purchase the correct dye for your applications. Scotty Kilmer
@nokia26300 Lots of things can cause noise when revving up, from an internally broken catalytic converter to loose fan belts to low fuel pressure. Scotty Kilmer

this thing is pointless appart from aircon leeks and maybe leaks on air intake systems which are pressurised. turbs supercharger etc. everything else is pretty easy to see where its leeking from
Pointless, EH? Guess you never had a hard to find coolant leak, or power steering leak, or AC leak, or transmission leak. Rather than having to clean everything off and look for a hard to find leak, you just use dye and see where the green comes out. Any REAL mechanic would realize the value of this tool Scotty Kilmer

not really. oil, powersteering, water, are pretty easy to find. oil/ water tende to run down due to gravity, so the source of the leak is normally easy to pinpoint. if its not that easy just give a swill. i can see the benifit with the aircon and pressurised intake systems as stated in my previous comment.
hey its a maxima. those VQ engines leak at the valve covers. just one of very few design flaws it has
MYkillingFETISH 4 weeks ago
Scotty, when using the dye lite is it a certain amount of time u let the vehicle run to let the dye work it's way through the system?

@scottykilmer Scotty, would this light work to detect intake manifold leaks?
blabblab1212 8 months ago
@blabblab1212 If they are leaking stuff out, yes. If they are vacuum leaks sucking in, then no. scotty
scottykilmer 8 months ago
@blabblab1212 No, you cannot inject the UV die into your intake, use a sray bottle around the mating surfaces and see where it bubbles.
