great video, i can't decide what sounds better - the song, or the screaming girls!! in any event, if you were there, what a time to be alive.. 5 STARZZ!!
this innonce should b back again....Im 30 and as a teen I GROOVED like crazy to this,The beatles,Dave Clark Five,The Hollies, and the list goes on and on
One of my fave trivial games is to test ppl to name at least FIVE -bands- (not single or duet artists) from the British Invasion, NOT including Beatles, Stones, The Who or The Kinks...another challenge is to name five bands that were played on the radio between 1960 and 1970 that didn't make it into the Bilboard Top Ten, tho that were in the top 100.
Care to take the challenges? NO FAIR using a search engine or trivia site of any kind...memory only...heheheheh...
I'd love to take the challenges but my memory or knowledge doesnt' stretch that far...:( Herman's Hermits? Queen? The Hollies? The Moody Blues? Pink Floyd? )
I could name the bands and songs, tho rarely am I able to name members and dates. A lot of stuff played on the radio here wasn't ever anounced, so there are still songs that I'm finding out who and what to this day. Recently I have been collecting Billboard Top 100 lists, would REALLY like to find American Top 40 lists from start to present, as many of those never made it into the top 100 of that year.
hmmm Gerry & the pacemakers, dave clark five, Brian poole and the temeloes freddie and the dreams and the searchers. :) I think they're all invasion bands. To be fair I'm only 17 and only started getting into this music a few months back
I was young when they came out, tho I was heavily digging into my teenage sibs' record collections...notice that even the 45's of any DC5, it is so much LOUDER than anything else from the era...pioneers of compression? I was able to "Do The Freddie" and loved the live album from The Outsiders...that band had two bass players, it was fantastic!
my dad clarified that the hollies, the byrds and herman hermits were invasion bands. the only reason I didn't mention them is because I thought they were american. :P
Outsider's two hits you'll be able to find are "Time Won't Let Me" and "Respectable" - if you can find ANY other songs from them, consider yourself a gold miner! Herman's Hermits were another of my faves, I can mock Peter Noone's voice (Herman) perfectly. Hollies, Byrds, two more greats, ask yer dad about Donovan and Peter & Gordon, and he'll kinda go "Um, who ya been talkin with?!?!?"
Is there a YouTube version of just the recording? Can't seem to find one. This is great but I'd like to hear it without the screaming! It's a great song.
hi, thanks for the info on tp mckenna- i seen this movie in nova scotia, when i was 7 - it was great. The british invasion was so wonderful..... HAIL ENGLAND!!
Its hard to believe now, but my sister brought home this... we went to the movie 'ferrey cross the mersey' and these dudes were JUST AS BIG as the beatles back then... it was this, then MEET THE BEATLES ETC .. i always liked this song best. thank god for youtube, lord knows i'd never have found it any other way! gare
Just think...the girls that were fighting and clawing each other over these fellas were the ladies who in the 80s were fighting and clawing each other over clothing at the department stores, and are now the same ladies fighting and clawing each other to be at the front of the line at the bank to cash their pension cheques.

The sixties was a great time for music! I love the Beatles most but really most of the popular groups in that period were fantastic!

Hmm, a couple of those I dun think were part of the Invasion, tho one in partic everyone keeps forgetting...does DC5 ring a bell?

I have to admit my ignorance because I did not really know that much about pop music.
