At the beginning of DBZ he's 4. After a year of training with Piccolo, he was five when he fought Vegeta and Nappa. Spent a month traveling to Namek, so he's still five when he fights Freeza. Goku doesn't come back home for a year, so he's 6 during the Trunks saga. Three years of training for the Androids makes him 9. A year in the Room of Spirit and Time makes him 10 when he fights Cell.
