i bought it 4 days ago and it blown my mind! i mentioned that the 2002 korg karma copied the 128 presets multi bank! i was scrolling sounds and found out it was all the same in the korg karma, however korg made some adjustments, but the yamaha sounds warmer. the multi bank is great for acoustic live peformance, but i rather choose the performance bank, the sounds are thicker and better tweak able.
Hey sorry but I don't know much about keyboards and I was wonderinf if this has any cool organ sounds. Like something along the lines of a hammond b3 sound or vox continental. Cool vid tho man!
simply go the one of the sound in performance mode, you are always in layer 1, just push + and you're in the same performance but in 2nd layer, then edit the "bank" and "program" (sound). this gives you a layered sound, now you can split the keyboard by setting the "note limit low - high" for each layer, you can go up to 4 layers.
I have never looked at Elton John's fingers !. But point taken ;-). What i should have said is that MOST keyboard players have slender fingers. I play the drums myself and i too have, as you say, "Sausage fingrers". I tried guitar but my fingers just wont do it so i keep to hitting things with sticks. :-)
@AMikeOnLine There was no touchiness behind that comment. You've clearly never seen Elton John's hands close up. Going by your theory, he shouldn't even be behind a Bontempi, let alone a Steinway, and would have been far more successful behind a drum kit with his sausage fingers! ;o)
@FailedMuso Haha, ironically, you were rather not touchy about that comment. I would've been pissed. Good on you, man. Cool demo of an awesome synth. My friend brought either this one or an AN1X (can't remember) to show me in college, and I was too oblivious to synth world at the time to properly examine the thing. Still kicking myself!
Your fingers can't be too sausagey if you can play all that. Old Yamahas have unusually narrow keys. Glad I personally have boney girly fingers. :P
@AMikeOnLine Ignoring your bizarre method of determining what instrument I should play via the size of my fingers, I actually am a drummer, and consider myself to be far better at that than playing the keys.
@mehasit you mean you want to assign another parameter to the knobs?
It's in the "Utility mode", all the way right you'll see "assign control no" when you're in there and turn any of the knobs you can read in the display which parameter will be assigned to that knob, to confirm simply exit utility mode. have fun!
@amonster8mymother No, the Nord Lead is analog modeller, like the AN1x. The CS1x is simply a Sample & Synthesis instrument (AWM2) but with knobs and a bit more detailed level of programming ability.
For a sample based synth, it punches well above it's weight. It's a great xg sound engine plugged into a pc.... If you get a good midi file of TARKUS by ELP you would swear Keith Emerson was in your living room. Great starter synth.....if you get a good price go for it.
I've got an issue with the CS1x where in performance mode it seems to always play a grand piano in the background. It doesn't matter which program I'm on. Do you have any ideas? I tried messing around with the layers but the best I've managed is the performance mode turning off and the piano still playing.
I used to have this synth. It has a very small soundbank and all your sound editing parameters are cut off, resonance, and some other stuff that doesn't make so difference in the sound. I suggest to you buy an AN1x instead of CS1x. AN1x is an analog modeling synthesizer and it allows you to generate your own sound.
ive got this keyboard im jus wonderin how do i connect this keyboard to the akai mpd 16,m audio keyboard and then to the pc ? what program can i use to record with this keyboard with the factory based sounds as i like them.
well to record the audio you could go from the audio output of the keyboard straight into the line in on your pcsoundcard. best would be if you would get yourself an audiointerface and hook it up with that. much better latencies and clear studiosound quality etc. and this keyboard has MIDI inout and thru soo patch it up^^
Awesome Synth!

@madworld49 Sadly, I sold my CS1x a few months ago, but yes, it does indeed have some good organ sounds of the types you mention on there :-)

Your fingers are too fat to play keyboard. You would make a far better drummer. Good video though. Thanks.

Exactly! And that is the reason it can do nasty, dirty techno sounds so well.
It creeks, whines, complains and all sorts of interesting sh!^ happens.
I am also not getting rid of it . It has "personality" so to speak.
