  • Great video! I might have to look in to one of these I love the sound of the old plexys

  • is this a good alternative to the suhr riot ? cause i want a tube sounding distortion but the riot is very expensive. Would you have another recommendation ?

  • would you recomend this pedal for evh type tones his tone on all of the first album blows me away and i dont have have the money for a old plexi or the 5150 iii would you recomend any other pedal over this one too.

  • This pedal is heaven in front of a HtRdDx clean channel. Thanks Pete.

  • Love your demos Pete. I've been playing for 30+ years and you are one awesome player my friend. Your command of the guitar just amazes me and I've seen most of the greats over the years. Great stuff and I'm a fan.

  • Are You Famous???

  • You are a tone monster, Pete!

  • Wow! Without hearing this pedal, I always figured it was for death metal and stuff like that. But it sounds pretty cool for stuff like old Aerosmith and Kiss. I'm looking for a good pedal to run into my Marshall Class 5. When I have the cash I might try one of these.

  • Wow!!!

Pete when you do review you do it 200% :)

It's always pleasure to hear how you get the most and the best of the any gear.

    Thank you!

  • i keep coming back to this review.. this review makes me want to buy the pedal, but i already have a nice lead channel on my amp...

  • I got lost... i thot i was checking out how this pedal sounded but i got lost in the awesome playing...

  • Hey Pete, Is it true that you and the rest of The Nazz are reuniting?

  • 3:53 AHH the drums are so sick sounding!

  • Please!!!!! whats pickups on the Tele???? thanks man, amazing!!!!

  • @julianoacustico they are stock Suhr single coil T pickups..... if you contact the folks at suhr and say "what's in Pete Thorn's Classic T" they will be able to tell ya....

  • @sinasl1 Thanks, and sorry my english!!!

  • Pete, you are great. This is one of the best demos I've ever seen on youtube. I really love the tone of that modern guitar from Suhr through ST-2. Can you please tell me specs of that guitar...tonewoods,pickups,etc.

  • st2 sunare this beautiful sound so very good and a fusion

  • Loving these demos and your playing Pete! Let me second the request for an instrumental (or any) album. Keep it going!

  • I got one question that I really need a answer to. Is the BOSS POWER STACK ST-2 Noisy?

  • hey pete.. you have a cool heavy voice, do you sing too?

  • Im gettin back into my guitart and need a pedal I use to own a metal zone but i sold that. So my question is what is better for metal, ml-2 or the power stack?

  • Thanks for all the great demos Pete ... for someone as busy as yourself it's greatly appreciated that you actually sit down and put these products through their paces with various guitars .. this is such a great service for us musicians who rely on such demos before making a purchase ... and I'm kicking myself in the ass for not checking out your show with M. Etheridge in Sudbury , Canada ... I would of loved to of seen you live ! Fantastic playing ... someone who can shred with taste=AWESOME !

  • probably the only boss distortion pedal I've really liked

  • this pedal sounds great, even if its not exactly exactly a tube amp, cause its not, but then if you cant play something good out of it, then be sure its you and a tube amp would be a waste of money

  • Rockin' too hard, Pete! That's great!

  • STANDING OVATION !!!

  • This man knows his stuff !!!

  • Hi guys- so to answer some of your questions- i really like this pedal below 1 or 2 o'clock or so on the gain- that's plenty of distortion! Above that is diminishing returns I think...

  • @sinasl1 Wow.

This is what it says on his website: Gear I will only endorse/promote gear that I actually use!

Its a good thing Peter Thorn has integrity. With his Midas touch, I think he could sell anything.

I don't think this guy could sound bad if he tried !

I watched others demo the same gear and not sound as well.

I just watched him also demo TC NOVA system and it sounded great.

These manufactures would do well asking him to recommend presets and amp combinations.

    Excellent player.

  • Excellent review !!!

  • Thorn! Dude I need some help! I got one of those pedals today and it sound great on higher gain settings but I get some serious feedback when I go past 12 O' clock on the sound knob. I don't really have any noise surpressors or gates or anything so do you have one of those or are you just running the pedal straight into the amp? Cause I don't hear any feedback on yours.

  • The Power Stack pedal really makes humbucking pickups come alive with gobs of tone! It's balls-out heavy with a nice midrange punch -- doesn't scoop the mids like so many tone-sucking distortion pedals. I think I might upgrade from my Boss DS-1 to this monster tone machine!

  • Hey Pete, What setting do you really like for this pedal? i bought one and id like to try some different settings out. thanks!

  • Hey Pete,Im Thorn between the Boss Power Stack ST2 and Suhr Riot which is of the two of the better sounding, need a nice distortion pedal for my Fender Deluxe Reverb...

  • I freaking love this guy, he does the best demos on the net hands down. And oh ya ,he is one kick ass guitar player! YOU ROCK PETE!

    P.S. I really dig perplexed

  • @spicecrop thanks dude!

  • can you pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase do like a lesson sorta thing for the lick you did at 3:30 ? thanksss

  • holy crap your tone is quite awesome!

  • Awesome review, I gotta get one now! Nice skills too!

  • Thorn, I've gotta know how you get that lead tone on the EVH type guitar in the first actual song you did in this video.

  • tell me what to buy.. metal zone or power stack?

  • His demo is the best.

  • This demo by Mr. Thorn is the clearest, most informative small gear demo I've seen so far. Tasteful guitar chops too, but focused on serving the demo and helping us hear the gear's potential. Good job! I will sure try one of those.

Got here from a link from my new BOSS/Roland newsletter sub, via registering my UA-25EX USB Capture interface. Great gear too!

  • very cool thx for the demo

  • I have to get me one, Nice !!![;-)>

  • That last tune was awesome, nicely done!

  • Great review! Love the tone with the les Paul

  • finally someone that does a guitar review right! multiple guitars!

  • boss ST2 is quite awesome

  • What amps are you using here?

  • what drums are in the background?are they from software?if they are, what is the software?

  • @A7XfoREVer1989 im guessing its guitar pro

  • awesome pedal

  • Pete what do you prefer for modern rock. the ML2 or the ST2

  • i didn't know you before this video, you really rock!

do you know if ST-2 is a digital or analog processor?

    thank you!

  • nice, i liked the second song man

  • 2:10 cat scratch fever?

  • @raresore no the rythym's completely different but the chords are similar

  • Holy crap Pete, this sounds awesome, as usual. Is it me, or are there now a bunch of great sounding, natural feeling overdrive pedals, where there were only a few maybe 5 years ago!?

  • really nice vid!

  • the more i hear this pedal..the more i like it. Looking for that good dist box thats flexible. metal zone is good.. but one sided tone wise. this pedal can shred.. but also sounds fabulous with strats in a bluesy rig.... 2 more weeks and I will have it... cannot wait..

  • Pete can make any pedal, amp, guitar sound amazing! Great job Mr. Thorn.

  • nicely done sir :] the second tune you played is gonna be in my head forever :]

  • Pete, how about an instrumental album dude? Would love to hear more our your stuff. Thanks for all the demo's. My wife is not a fan of yours as I buy lots of the stuff you demo! HA!

  • @jemesp Album is almost done! 8 tunes done, I gotta track 2 more, mix and put er out...

  • @sinasl1 Are They All Instrumental?

  • @sinasl1 Hello Pete! Can You Please Tell Me The Settings on The Power Stack When You Were Playing That 1st Instrumental Tune at The End?

  • @sinasl1

That's good news. I agree with @jemesp. Please update me when it's out. Thanks!

  • By far the best demo of the Boss ST-2.Sounds wicked.Almost to good to be true.

  • Love the crunchy Strat/Tele sound on the last song! Do you know if this pedal works with a Fender Super Champ XD?

  • Hahah "I was rocking.. TOO hard"

I don't know how you can get such an amazing tone no matter what you plug into. Your tone is always so juicy. I've spent so many hours trying to capture the sound of my FTR but i just can't do it. So i'm thinking the key is two different mics on the cab like you.

I just love the juicy tones

  • great review, awesome tone .

  • Excellent demo Pete - that first track you play at 3:45 sounds fantastic. The pedal may have some potential for sure. The drum track for the tunes, is that a live drum track or did you piece it together with a DAW? Regardless, it sounded great. It made me immediately think of something off a Steve Morse album. Great stuff!

  • sounds amazing Pete... the first song reminds me of Blues Saraceno Hairpick one of my fav instrumental cds

  • Great demo, as usual, Pete. Thanks for putting the time in.

  • Love it, it really does bring the sound out and just blasts through the amp, good tone and adds just that little spice to the overall sound...

Thanks Pete always enjoy ur vids... \m/

  • i learn so much more with your videos! great as always

  • That's one bad ass pedal.

  • Hey Pete.

    Love your playing bro!!!!!

    Excellent

  • God damn thats a beast of a pedal! Trust Boss to put this thing together for a third of the price of a boutique equivalent!

  • Thanks for posting Pete! Really enjoy all your videos!

  • what amp(s) are you playing it through?

  • @swyitch hi, it's the clean channel of my signature amp- the PT100. It is basically like a Fender Twin on the clean channel. Cab is a Bogner 1-12" with a Scumback 65watt M75.

  • agree with you on it sounding like an amp channel, the clean on the PT100 sounds really good!

  • @sinasl1

    PT100, from Custom Amplifiers?

  • loved the songs! great demo.

    Thanks for sharing

  • I usually hate boss distortion. But you make it sound great. I'm sure it's a little better than the stuff I have experienced but you are really great so I'm going to assume it's just you that sounds awesome and not this thing.

  • That Suhr T is amazing! I got a Warmoth custom T to get put together once I get home from College. Seeing your awesome Suhr T is not helping my Guitar Acquisition Syndrome in terms of missing my new guitar I haven't even played yet.

  • @GuillermoSmyser yes the T has a special very full and clear sound, it's a great guitar!

  • Honestly, Pete is such a good player that any gear he uses sounds amazing. If I keep watching this stuff I'm gonna end up re-mortgaging my house and throwing the kids on the street in order to buy an Axe-FX, Nova-System, Suhr Guitars, CAE PT100, Suhr Badger 18w, Boss ST-2 and El Capistan Delay. Stop it Pete, just STOP. ;-)

  • have you got the new Evertune bridge on a guitar? should be something for you as a pro guitarist? btw im not selling it, just think its great for professionalism.

  • @johnosstreeter no have not seen it

  • I have an old Cube 40 that about 30 years old. I us it for practicing and messing about and I've tried several pedals with it. This pedal might be just the ticket.

    Thanks.

  • Great sound.

  • Excellent!!!

  • Doug Aldrich, guitarist for White Snake,he Shure kicks ass,So do you Pete!

  • wow, wasn't expecting that at all, it sounds killer.

  • Very cool pedal.

  • Topest quality as usual Mr T.

  • Now that is a professional guitarist.

  • Cool songs! Thats a great sounding pedal, and not over priced, only $ 99.00

  • @bgibson70 i only get 150 buck each year so not over priced..

  • good demo. didn't sound too bad for a boss pedal. they seem to cut bass on most of there pedals. this one sounded pretty good. You still recording with the royer r121?

  • Thanks for the post!
