  • this bitch doesn't know shit, my ferrets wouldn't even hurt a bug

  • if i lived in cali there would be 1001 members :)

  • I couldn't stop laughing...

  • That's right Fish & Game - it is HUMANS who

    destroy,endanger wildlife & its environment.

What exactly do they endanger in NYC?

Rats? So glad I live in UK with my ferrets.

  • Now what school did these so-called biologists graduate from? They're still not clear on what kind of an impact "domesticated ferrets" would have on the environment? Easy call! Zero! Out on their own, domestic ferrets wouldn't likely survive more than a few days. That said, feral packs could not exist. They just deny to end the ban because they can't admit to their own stupidity, nor accept that they ARE 100% wrong.

  • Well said! Ignorance is bliss to F & G as they cannot be bothered to get the facts.

Ferrets are domestic animals who cannot fend for

    themselves in the wild.

  • Um, and they allow CATS? Do you know how many birds cats kill in a week? The ferrets in newzeland were mixed with polecats, and released to control rats.

  • Yeah, right...Feral ferrets. They're DOMESTICATED. They CANNOT survive without us! And of course, they can harm things. They carnivores. But they've never been taught to survive in the wild.

This is soooo stupid...They don' want to admit they are wrong and pluck up the courage to legalize them.

    FERRETS ROCK!

  • ferrets are pets, they've been pets for thousands of years, they should be legal..the "said" only reason why they aren't is..cause they could get loose and form feral groups, and then harm birds, wish is a lie, ferrets wont last longer than 5 days, maybe even a week, out on their own..

  • Um, I don't understand how ferrets can hamr the wildlife since..you know..they can't live out in the wild out on their own. Ferrets are soooo dependent of people that I just can't see them living out on their own. Besides, ferrets are inquisitive, not creatures with murdurous intente, they won't kill the ground-nesting birds..Silly people. If you don't like ferrets don't get one, but don't make them illegal.

  • These people are very STUPID!!

they r acting like ferrets r going 2 destroy the country if they legalise them!Ferrets can NOT survive in the wild!!And that is a fact!btw ferrets r bad at hunting and the only reason other animals fear them is because of their smell:)

  • Living in ID brought 2 boys into R lives & it grew from there! Moving 2 CA wasn't gonna stop it! Now that our 5 babies R in Heaven we adopted 2 more 2 help friends. FerretOwned4ever->

  • The fish and game dept. people are idiots. They didn't tell you this, but the "ferrets" that are wild in New Zealand are actually polecat/ferret hybrids, bred and raised and released 100 to 200 years ago by PEOPLE PURPOSELY to kill rabbits that were also released by people. They were and are not domestic ferrets. Domesticated ferrets can never survive in the wild.

  • It is so sad my pets are illegal, fish and game dont have substantial proof they are any more threatening than a cat or dog in the wild. My ferrets wouldn't last 2 days in the wilderness!

  • it IS sad...... and crap.. they know that they wont last in the wild..

they should at least compromise and have it so that pet ferrets spayed or neutered, and licensed are legal.. most ferret owners and future ferret owners would pay for even an expensive license..

so many ferret owners in CA. are afraid that their "children" will be taken away..

  • Glad to see that University students are taking notice of this issue.

  • What issue? The "ferrets" in NZ are polecat hybrids...domestic ferrets are not the same.

All the other states where ferrets are legal have never had even one case of ferrets affecting wildlife.

The NZ ferrets were half wild animals, taught to raised to hunt and kill. Even ferrets who are used for ferreting are taught not to kill. What good is a ferret that kills a rabbit or other animal down in the burrow?

  • They do not act like wild animals, domestic ferrets are meant to be inquisitive - which is NOT a good quality to have when you are only a foot long and need to avoid predators to survive. Ask rescue people how many ferrets are found in parks huddled together or run over, or how many ferrets have run up to people in parking lots after being dumped. Ferrets need human care to survive and even the ferrets know it.

  • The legalization issue. You misunderstood my comment. The issue is that California and Hawaii are the only two states that have yet to legalize ferrets when it's obvious that ferrets are domesticated animals.

  • No problem, I just didn't understand, I'm sorry :D

  • Claudia you are beautiful! My hero ...

  • "spread disease"? Are you friggin kidding me? Do the research. Ferrets are highly susceptable to diseases in the wild and are killed by them so easily. Rabies and distemper kills them before they can even spread it. ugh.

  • You GO Claudia!!

    Shame on the "Governator"!!

  • legalize them, they are very sweet pets, and I refuse to move somewhere they are illegal! I have rescued 10 ferrets, I cant imagine my life without them.
