The Japanese unit for power is 'PS' not bhp and the official power for these cars as being 133 is quoted in 'PS', not bhp. Both the Glanza V and the Starlet GT had 133ps as standard from the factory which is 131bhp (multiply bhp by 0.98631997)
ha lets clear this up the 98 spec glanza's had 133bhp previous models where 130, the only difference in the turbo is on the glanza the ct9 has an extra blade, many people on the forum are running 170+ on standard internals and running that on 1.1 bar boost you ll out accelerate an m3.... but obviously the m3 will pull back top end, its all about power to weight there are gt's out there with a better power to weight than a bugatti veyron, golfs like most german cars are heavy from stock
i do not own a glanza but if i could sell my peugeot 306 i would buy a glanza for sure...unfortunatelly with the ecomomic crisis here in greece i couldn't sell it so i swapped my engine for a 1.6 16v from a saxo...still much slower than a glanza :(
i thnik that these videos should be on youtube for some idiots who says that glanzas are not fast...some people say "VW is the best...golf 1.4tsi with 140hp they are geniuses" and i say when toyota produced starlet GTs back in 1990 with 1.3 engine and only 0.65 bar boost running at 140hp, VW was producing golf mk2 with 1.8 engine and a supercharger to get 150hp...
VW can easily get more then 140bhp out the 1.4 thats why they have 170bhp version. The reason is has 140bhp is for cheaper running cost. The Glanza does not have 140bhp is has 133bhp as for the Mk2 Golf supercharged g60 had 160bhp not 150 and it was an 8v not 16v like the Starlet. The mk2 Golf GTI 16v 1.8 non turbo had 140bhp. Basically everything you said was wrong.
@TheVtieg6 133hp was the starlet GT...glanza which is newer than starlet GT has a slightly better turbine and runs 137hp to be exact...the golf with 170hp had problems all the time and after a year of hard use it doesn't produce more than 160hp...the 4efte engine has no problems and it's powerfull even after 15 years of very hard use...not to mention that there are many glanzas running 170+ hp with stock internals...and it's still an engine with 90' technology not 2006 like the golf...
I dont know much about problems for the 170bhp Golf but that also was designed for fuel ecomony because its more better on fuel and more powerful than the 2litre non turbo engine. Basically both 4efte and golfs engine are designed for different purposes so its not right to compare the two. I know about the starlet engines my friend has one and ive got vids to prove it. Ive commented about VW engines in my other post which you can compare to the starlets which you have ignored.
