  • I can't listen to this song...My tears break my computer.

  • is this a deleted scene or something?

  • This really gives you a sense of how lonely and truly human the Phantom is.

  • amazing

  • OMG this song makes me cry, i think that she should have stayed with him, evey time she leaves i cry my head off

  • @Music101775 No, little Miss frenchie-runs-when-something-pretty comes-along wasn't good enough for him. Now Madam Geary's (sp?) fan-girl daughter would have been a great choice! (ignoring the age difference. that is).

  • Beautiful song! Beautifully acted! It brings us an insight into his character that I, for one, was needing to see!

  • Please lord, put this on iTunes!!!!!

  • @MissMercedes2 yes gerard buttler sang it soo good and made it mysteriously

  • phantom of the opera is simply the best movie ever made :)

  • He does such a great job with this song, its heartwrenching, and still beautiful too, Great job, Gerard!

  • no hai palabras para describir esta cancion ...

  • Какой у него голос! Я от фильма тащусь, а теперь и на него запала!!!

  • this is such a great scene. I wish they had left it in. it makes the Phantom a bit more human.

  • This song makes me think of my life sometimes, it's a very good song. This should have definitely been in the movie.

  • @mph32ren87 IMHO, it was what made the story make sense; or at least, would have....

  • Awww...you can hear his heart breaking as he sings! Poor baby!

  • every time i hear this song i cry!!! it's so magical and beautiful!!

  • H Cristine dn paei ka8olou kala pou tn afhse....TELOS!

  • Обожаю! Он прекрасен, и фильм прекрасен.

  • omg this song just makes me melt.

  • When did this part in the movie? Do not remember ... Moreover, I think it's got to see ever. :O It's great, I love it!

  • @Carm3n7xvs : this was a deleted song from the movie version. if you notice, the tune is the one from 'Learn to be lonely', also a song written for the movie :)

  • love this song sang it in school

  • Gerard !! Woow !

  • I love Gerard Butler!!! His is the best!!!!!

  • He's an actor, a good one, But he's not a singer and he admits it. everyone thinks he's a good singer because he's cute. and i bet all of his fans think Brittney spears is the pinnacle of vocal styling.

  • @randomfollie I dont think hes cute, and i think hes a good singer..its just because he has an accent, so stop hatin

  • @randomfollie

Your comment literally made me laugh out loud.

    Thanks for that. :D

  • @randomfollie you are wrong. i love gerrys singing and playing but i hate pop music! Gerry is the best phantom because he plays naturally, not like Crowford (he was just waving his hands and singing not bad) There were not feelings in M. Crowford

  • love it! :)

is this a deleted scene from the 2004 movie?

  • It sounds alot like the song that play at the ending credits, "Learn to be lonely." Both are verry beautiful songs. (:

  • why did this not be put in the movie .

i felt sad when i heard this.

  • I mean Even when he took his mask off i was like ;P And I dont even find gerrard butler himself attractive.just saying :D

Nah, seriously, I loved his peformance, all of them infact. Beat the original by miles :)

  • @allStarandgirlWonder - Um...no. Original is SO much better.

  • @sunnyboycj shut up you are killing the YOUTube!!!!!!!

  • i get so sad whenever i hear this song . . .

  • Ive never heard this song before. Is it in phantom of Opera at all

  • I just cried! This song makah meh so sad!!!!! :*{

  • just love it

  • I know a lot of people say that Gerard lacked the depth and appearance of Erik and looking too Hollywood fan-base, but considering that, it wasn't his fault. They sugar coated his appearance to attract a younger audience but again, that is not what the story tells us. Even when he had his mask torn off he still looked handsome. You'd think "Why is he living all by himself underground? He's not THAT bad looking" I agree, Michael Crawford is terrific and so are John Owen Jones and John Caudia.

  • Minnie Driver sang a song for POTO called Learn to Be Lonely, ita the same tune as this song

  • i love you phantom you rock lexie tate

  • i love you phantom you rock

  • I wish this scene was in the movie. But, you can see it if you purchase the 2-disc copy of POTO. I think was the scene right before the phantom unchains the chandelier. I totally feel the Phantom's feelings in this scene. You could tell almost at the end of the song, like he wanted to cry. Seriously. Remember in his interview Gerald did say that he felt the Phantom's emotion of loneliness and sadness. Aww Phantom, I would have been there for you!

  • Oh how i love Him he is the best person i this. I wish he fancied me

  • This should have been in the movie, but where would it have been placed within the film, is probably the question that prevented this from appearing. sigh...

  • hes a sexy beast

  • i love this song it would have made him seem much more human and not some killing machine i have watched the phantom 500 times no lie and i always wish he sang this song

  • never heard this song... i love the phantom i want to meet him so bad! best phantom ever

  • I think this should have been included in the movie, definitely makes us know why he is so in love with Christine. Gerard sings it so sensitively and compassionately! I feel it would fit best right after the Music of the Night scene, while Christine was sleeping, as they were already down in the catacombs. anyhow. Gereard makes a wonderful phantom! I have never seen more emotion put into a song and moment as he did as the Phantom!

  • I think I figured it out. By his costume and feeling of the song I believe it should be put in right before Point Of No Return. It makes sense to me anyways! LOL Either way I think it should have been left in the movie.

  • I've been a POTO fanatic since my senior year of HS (1993) when I saw it at the LA Performing Arts Center. Gerard Butler is absolutely amazing throughout the entire movie! He brings more feeling to the character than I ever saw on stage. (Not to mention he's the hottest actor of his time! YUM!) Anyone have any speculation on where this would fit into the movie? And I agree with everyone else, Raoul is a tool! Just another dumb pretty boy! LOL

  • THIS IS OPERAAAAAAAA

  • This song was what made the story make sense.

  • I'd listen....I'd also take him over Raoul...he just needs a hug and some love.

  • It's so sad that they cut this sequence from the movie. It's such a beautiful song, and one of the best recordings of Gerard's singing in my opinion. I wish they had added this as an extra track on the soundtrack!

  • @chat2012 I agree. He sings this so beautifully, its a shame it wasnt in the film...Or at least at the end over the credits instead of learn to be lonely, whose lyrics I hate(depressing, I think )...Then we can cry even more over our poor Phantom...

  • imma big POTO fan, and out of all the phantoms and versions, this is my favorite, cuz he's a bit different from the other phantoms, and its my fav storyline ~

  • this is the tune to learn to be lonely no? Who cares Gerard Butler is just soo sexy. He is sex. :3

  • @babyboobookieboo95 You're right about the tune. I wonder why the film crew cut this out.....

  • if this scene wasnt in the movie, where did you get the footage?

  • @RainbowFirebird Because it was filmed but it was deleted from the film

  • @RainbowFirebird If you buy the dvd 2-disc set, the disc with ''extras'' on has it.

  • He once gave me a hug, now I send it to Phantom.

    Still love you Gerry

    Joan (HUG) xxxx

  • Even though Gone with the Wind is my favourite romance story, this is a close second. Gerard Butler is absolutely amazing. I want to hug him, and Erik is the second best love interest ever. I'm glad she ended up with Raoul, but I like Erik better.

  • was this in the film cos this is the first time ive seen this?? :S

  • @LindsayMonroe90 no it wasnt. i think it was deleted

  • the comedy musical is so much better!

  • ...Why does this video even have 19 dislikes?! This is amazing! It should have no dislikes! Great song. :D

  • @DoctorWho2002 Maybe because it's so sad!!!! Great song!!!!

  • i think that they didnt put this song in because they wanted people to think that her and raoul deserve each other. if they wouldve put this song in there, people would get mad because the phantom was caring, and she was mean to him.

  • @ZeldaTopia I ABSOLUTELY agree wirth you! They didnt want the phantom to be seen as having real feelings and being so sensitive...But even without it in the film, Gerry makes us all love him and cry for him, and totally NOT understand how C could treat him so heartlessly! So it didnt work!

And he sings this so beautifully - its a REAL SHAME it wasnt left in....

  • @MrsJosephMerrick yea i just wish that her and that phantom ended up together, otherwise they movie was perfect lol

  • @ZeldaTopia Well, as much as we wish dear Phantom got the girl in the end, at least WE can all dream about him, and how WE would make him happy! And theres nothing women like better than a good''weepy'' film....But I do wish i could give that Phantom a big hug and lots of kisses!!!

  • @MrsJosephMerrick exactly lol i would do the exact same

  • @ZeldaTopia Poor Phantom...He definately needs some love and affection....:)(And someone to iron his frilly shirts.)

  • I really wish they put this song and scene in the movie! its so beautiful and it relaly shows us a different side of the Phantom, I love it!!!!!

  • Christine shoud've been slapped upside the head. What was she thinking for going with the faggot Raoul? That is the only gay part about the musical opera.

  • omfg, im so with you! the phantom deserved her more than raoul!

  • i don't remember this song..but i love it:D

  • This was part of the movie, The Phantom of the Opera?!?! What?! Or does it belong to the Sequel of something?

  • OK!!! I can not stop watching this. So hauntingly beautiful. I think his voice is amazing. Of course he is quite a specimen

  • Up-rate this if you think Roul needs to fucking die already and give Christine back to the phantom :)

  • @Fullmetal1890P if u see the squeal love never dies i dont wanna give it away but search the plot i think ud like it (because of the love triangle it all changes)

  • @Fullmetal1890P I sooo agree to that...I hate him in The next Phantom of the Opera Love Never Dies Raoul turns into a drunk what does that tell ya...The Phantom fricken rocks hes smart, sexy, creative, talented...but i guess its her loost

  • @PhantomGirl05 REALLY REALLY REALLY?? Roul becomes a total loser??? OMG?? I'm totally considering watching that now XD I read the general idea of Love Never Dies and thought it'd be stupid and fagiful so I thought no... but if the phantom kicks ass and roul's a total loser like DUDE!! ^-^ You must tell me more about this Love Never dies!

  • This scene should have never been cut from the movie, it is beautiful

  • it is beautifol

  • they should've included this but i think it would make the phantom seem less seductive and sexy than he is in other songs

  • why did they leave this out of the movie!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song, it makes me cry because it is so beautiful

  • I am a grandma , but sometimes wishes too be twenty years younger....What a fantastic Phantom ! And yes, heartbroken and lonely he is. Like so many of us have experienced.

Have a great day all of you. x

  • I think this song shows the more heartbroken and lonely phantom instead of stocker murderer also it shows how the phantom felt when he could do all these things but people didn't listen to him because the face that he has no that is like hunchback and frankenstein they were all misunderstood people (frankstein not really person but it counts) thats what i think of this song

  • Very good point. I love how you put it.

  • "I swear it must be heaven's light!" I love the parallels between this and Hunchback. By far the best classic french tragedies. :)

  • Sublime. Truely a beautiful song with an amazing voice like Gerard Butlers makes a masterpiece in my opinion. Gerard Butler is easily my favorite actor (him or Ewan McGreggor), and he did the role of the Phantom spectacularly.

  • Is this a song they wrote for the movie along with Learn to Be Lonely (end credits song) because I'm pretty sure this wasn't in the show

  • Beautiful! I really wish this was in the movie.

  • He's so sweet, sensitive and romantic, my heart melts...No one could ever sing this better than our dear Gerry, hes just amazing...ITs his song completely....I want to be the rose he brings close to his face....Kisses for Erik......:)

  • @MrsJosephMerrick

He has so beautiful hands!!! How gently touch the rose....

  • @eugenie1967 I want those beautiful hands of his to touch me....all night....Erik wouldnt be lonely anymore.....

  • @MrsJosephMerrick well you're going to have competition then :)

  • @starXelfXyeshua

    Dont I know it!!!!!!!!!

I wish there was an Erik for each one of us!!!!:):):)

  • @MrsJosephMerrick

I wish could happened!!! He is so sensitive and romantic!!!

  • @eugenie1967 ...Because our Erik knows what it truly means to love and to be loved........I wish he was with me now I would be so happy, and I would make him happy to...:)

  • @MrsJosephMerrick I sure for that....

  • @MrsJosephMerrick me too, someone who could love, complete, fill, heal, the brokenness and anger and pain. Unfortunately, i'm the one who is the female equivalent of Erik....so no luck here

  • @eugenie1967 how can you see?

  • Lovely song!!!

  • Breathless!!!

  • oh my gosh this song is beautiful! it made me cry! I love the phantom so much!!!

  • I actually think this song would be perfect in the movie, before the Masquerade scene. anywhere else it would take away form the passion of the Phantom.

  • They should have put this song in the movie. It's beautiful and it shows the good side of the Phantom!

  • I thought it came after Christine and Raoul had left him alone at the end.

  • @ThePigeon09 I really don't think so. His passion and ferocity whilst he smashed the mirrors was too intense for him to be calmly singing this melancholy song.

  • Before or after Masquerade, because he has the red cape in the chair and the death's mask on his desk. So beautiful song!!! We can see how sensitive the phantom is!!!!!!

  • Wow, beautiful. Gerard Butler should rule the world. With Chuck Norris.

  • Agree. Everything would be great :p

  • que? xD

ese tema no esta en la pelicula

  • I agree 100%

  • I love him. This should have been in the film because he sings so well, and puts all those critics to shame. A talented , handsome and lovely man. He put s his soul into every part he plays. I hope he gets all the recognition he truly deserves.

  • This is after he writes Don Juan Triumphant because that's the play on his model of the stage. I think this could have gone somewhere between We Have All Been Blind and Don Juan. He kind of looks like he's thinking about something and, judging by the model, I think he's debating whether or not he should go through with "filling in" for Piangi.

  • @TheWickedMizfit - I actually think this may have come between the rooftop scene and the masked ball if you consider his mood. He is calm here because he still has dreams of winning Christine back - these hopes seem connected with his opera. But this scene is like the calm before the storm - he loses his composure at the masked ball when he sees her ring, and is agitated when he sets the model stage alight just before playing Don Juan. His mood places the scene before the ball, I think.

  • Hm...birdsshouldfly, I think you're right. It does seem to make a bit more sense for it to be there than where I thought it was.

  • @birdsshouldfly

I would agree, but dont forget he'd aready ''lost his composure'' on the roof when he saw Christine and Raoul kiss (grrr!), before Masquerade, so I m not sure. Whatever, he so lovely here. Hes so sweet and sensitive, and wants so much to be just like everyone else - but they didnt want to know just because of his poor face!!!Hes so alone...I want to be with him....Cuddle him all up forever. - Gerry or Phantom :)

  • mabye its just after Christine passes out and before she wakes up?

  • Man, I wish I was Gerard Butler. He's so much cooler than I am.

  • don't wish that!! love yourself!! ;)

  • lol, that's sweet of you to say. Thank you.!!!

  • @Dale747474 nononono, you have it all wrong! Chuck Norris RULES the world alone! lol

  • How did you find such an amazing clip!?!? -is in love!!!-

  • i luv the phantom of the opera i watch it all the time because i have it on dvd and i luv his singing

  • I agree he is super!!

  • I really wish they had put this in the movie! This is the first time I heard it sung and I just loved it! :-)

I LOVE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and I ADORE Gerard Butler! His voice is amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm with you ladies, This song makes me cry. Damn shame they left it out. Schumacher also put nips on Batman. I was told that it was immediately after the mirror scene when Ralphie jumps down into the hole to try to get him. I could be wrong, but pretty sure I'm right. Schumacher, however that's spelled, said it would take away from the intense emotions of the surrounding scenes.

  • Had to comment!

Wonderful, Wonderful! I adore Gerard Butler! I would have loved to have seen it in the movie!

  • Omg hottie I am crying!! LOVE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!

  • *sudden burst* ahmaagadilovehimilovehimilovehim :'(

  • hey this isnt in the movie! is this an extended version??

  • Honestly, I am really sad that this did not make the movie's final cut. How many of Gerard's detractors may have changed their criticism if they had've heard this song? What a terrible waste - I mean, I loved the movie anyway, but how many more could have loved it??

  • Totally agree with you !

This song is so beautiful and really shows off the softer side of the phantom, which was definitely neglected in the movie...

and my lordi, that voice !

  • I so agree! With everything! I wonder which part of the movie this was in before they cut it out?

  • Hmm... Not sure ^_^

If you can work out which play is on his mini-stage at 2:02 then you can compare it with the rest of the film and sort of find out whereabouts it is I suppose :)

  • I have been obsessed with the Phantom since I saw it in high school in '92! They did this movie so beautifully! It feels like I'm watching it on the stage, but with the amazingly sexy Mr. Butler to enjoy as well! I don't remember this from the play, does anyone know where it goes in the movie?

  • Ditto. LOL

But I was in grade 6 when I first saw the movie.

  • MULLET POWER!!!!! lol

  • G.B. is handsome even without mask, his voice is amazing!!!

  • Yeah, he's even hot when his faced is mushed up O_O <3

  • LOVE phantom of the opera and LOVE Gerard Butler.. beautiful voice and WOW, hes even hot when hes disfigured.

  • just perfect

  • yeah it does suck that they cut this out of the movie. It not only makes the Phantom more human but it makes him seem more misunderstood instead of just insane or evil.

  • What a great song. sorry they cut it from the movie. He is one talented man. Job well done Gerard!

  • BEAUTIFUL Song - BEAUTIFUL Scene... The Movie was definitely a Modern Triumph!

  • oh it is just so weird if you think of him of the 300 guy to sing this rofl. And in P.S. I love u

  • yeah i know i just watched 300 and i look at him here and its hard to comprehend King leonides singing.. hmmmmmm if only 300 was a musical.....

  • But that is what makes Gerard Butler such an amazing actor, that he can do this and do "300" and be SO different in the roles. That is a REAL talent.

  • I love this song! Gerard ♥

  • in this song he builds his missunderstod charictor, because he is not the bad guy, just unberibly in love with Christine.

  • Does anyone know why this was cut out of the movie?? It makes the character more human. I have the movie and it seems edited on the kiss scene in the lake with Raoul tied up at the gate.

  • I LOVE the Phantom of the Opera!! I've seen it twice, and I would reeeally like to see it on Broadway! Does anybody know the current Broadway cast for the Phantom of the Opera? Gerard is great!

And also, if there are any other Wicked fans here, is it just me, or does this song COMPLETELY fit Elphie??

  • I adore this song. I wish it had stayed in the film. It would bring the extra something to make the film more epic than epic

  • this is the same tune for learn to be lonely

  • Visit 'PhantomPhan05'! The video quality in HD that he has uploaded of this video is amazing! If you like this song, I reccommend you visit his channel and view it!

  • I love G.B. as phantom, his voice is fantastic, full of passion!!!

  • Have you heard the Italian one? :P Lol.

(Or any Phantoms on Broadway or the West End for that matter? Amazing). xxx

  • rest in peace Michael Crawford... the poor phantom he just wants to be loved...

  • Michael Crawford's DEAD?? D: I didn't hear of this!!

  • No hes not dead? where did you hear this?

  • I LOVE the phantom. He is sooo amazing! Stupid Christine. And just saying, he is the sexiest deformed guy EVER
