This song got me through college (in the U.S., finished May 1988). Sometimes, music is medicine. Sometimes, when you're drowning, music is a lifeline.
Today I looked down from my rooftop Tonight I will burn letters Stones in my hands That are guarding our world They are not the same thing. I could have written an epos But why risk my camouflage, Could have taken canvas and brushes But it wouldn't change a thing Could have taken a step backwards But that's not what I need. No that's not what I need It's just our dance on the edge of spring.
Одна из лучших песен Аквариума... помню, как я, впечатлившись этим клипом, мчался по февральским -30и в одной короткорукавной рубашке и с Танцами в наушника, а потом месяц болел ))
This is greeeeeeeeat! Some of my favorite music and artists are in languages I don't understand one bit. Boris Grebenshikov, Kino, Cho Yong Pil, Juan Luis Guerra....
iriauchi, "Red Wave" was a vinyl double album released in the pre-perestroika mid-80's, featuring four Russian bands (Aquarium, Kino, Alisa and one other which I forget at the moment). This was the first that most Americans had heard of Russian rock, which up until then was an underground phenomenon.
You're welcome iriauchi, hearing this music was an ear-opener for me. From that collection, I also liked Kino a lot, particularly the song called "Videli Noch".
Самая любимая песня....

I can see your shore, but what is this shining in bushes
I've seen something similar in one of the video films.
I know your voice better than my own,
But I want to know "Who's talking to me"
I could remain alive
But that's not my inclination.
I could confess my love
But does it change anything?
And would you really want me to do it?
It's just our dance on the edge of spring.

Funny, it's clear from the video that Boris had used to hide his long hair under his shirt at those times :-)
He always was a very careful man, our guru ;-)

Ain't nothing like that in the video. He's got a ponytail and what? Hold your horses making assumptions and conclusions.

"Red Wave" anthology? It`s very interesting! Can you tell me more about it? Who are the other singers?

Thank you very much, Waggler.
I was born in Soviet Union, and for us this music was like a srteam of fresh air, more than only music, you know.

"Videli noch"? Excuse me, but can I ask ask you a question? Do you understand lyric (text) of this song?
And lyric of this clip? Or under the words "ear opener" you meen only music?

I understand a little in Russian (ochen mali), but both of these songs were translated into English on the inner sleeve of the album.
