i can't speak for all overtone singers, but i'm taking a class on world musics and cultures that in Tuvan cultures there used to be a great taboo against women throat singing because it was associated with infertility.

Now, however, more Tuvan girls/women are learning. you should give it a shot too!

I have a naturally high voice, but I can still throatsing successfully. You don't need to do it very low like that, just train your voice to maintain a steady note.
