I always liked Michael Kinsley. I used to watch him on CNNs Crossfire show with Pat Buchanan. Im a conservative, so I usually sided with Buchanan, but I liked Kinsley just as much because he was funny but also very intelligent, and argued his points in an honest manner. He didnt need to spin or use straw-man arguments.
It's great to see Michael Kinsley in this long, reflective interview.
Over a remarkable career, from the New Republic to Crossfire to Slate to the Washington Post, he has worked to improve and to extend political debate to a wider and better informed audience.
In every setting, his goal has not been to win the public debate, but to make it better informed and more honest.
The effects of Parkinson's may now slow him down, but they don't diminish his current writing or his continuing example
Michael Kinsley is a bigot.

Thanks for archiving this. There's good stuff here on writing, on argument, in a survey of Kinsley's career.
