  • We should all take a few pointers from the Sami. Why can't we live in the way they do? Not literally up in lapland, but in harmony with nature and life in whatever land we livee in :( The whole society and it's structure seems buggered up tbh. These guys figured it out, and it's so sad to see such a peaceful, simple yet good way of life disappearing :( long live the Sami.

  • Have there been any 'tragedy' in Saami people's history?? i heard things like; Saami people have been massacred and castrated in Sweden and Norway from 1920 to 1980.. Nobody talks much about this. Is that true??

  • no but coz of the paper price increase in last two years the logging has increase aswell now most of timber in southern / midle / north finland hasbeen cut and the timber price gone down more then 50% loggign has gone down.

the mony made from our forest has gone to the ower seas stock holders we the people only got the clear cut waste land that take 100+ years to growback to what it was. clobalisim is great

  • lol that guy looks kind of like robin williams.

  • ok, its Sami land, but only because the sami are living on it.

it officially belongs to the country, since the sami had no country of their own to begin with, they are exploited like this.

not that I want the forests to be cut, I believe that trees and nature is sacred, but above all, nothing is going to change if you dont think about contacting some organisations to protest against the killing of the forests.

saying that its your land is going to change nothing.

    action must be taken instead.

  • We are a proud people that take good care of our land. if we had our own country we wouldnt let them cutt down our trees.

  • Linguistic research shows that Sami languages have been spoken all over todays Finland and Karelia and large part of Norway and Sweden.

  • I think this is so interesting. Finland gained it's independence relatively recently, and it's interesting to see the parallels between the Saami people and the Native American people, and what wrongs happened to their culture during the early development of the United States. Not all as severe- no massacres or anything... Populations growth and civilization is a bitch.

  • Mugsy587, you make a crucial mistake in saying that it was only in the early part of the US formation. It still is going on NOW.

  • write to your countrys Scandanavian embassys, this wrong, this is Saami land
