@keinanjoss the first two monitors in this video are Bell's phase lace monitors. It's a naturally occurring colour morph that comes up as broad, rather than narrow, bands of colour.
I can see where your coming from but you don't kno me n u haven't seen my house or the space I have available. If I can house a Nile properly I can house a lace.
@fbmxer you should post a video of your adult Nile monitors and their setup, then, for all I can go by is the video of your albigularis and exanthematicus setups. Based on those (and the way you deal with them), I'd advise you against getting a lace monitor.
Yeah I know they require alot of space. I have a 5ft x5ft x3ft cage sitting at my house which should be plenty big for a hatchling and juvenile size judging by the size cage u have yours in. u need a new cage aswell by your standards
So I have wanted a lace monitor for about a year now but can't find them anywhere on this continent. I live in the us. Are they just not exported or are they not legal here? Hopefully u know what the deal is. Btw Ur monitors are super Gorgeous man.
@fbmxer they're not exported but they are in the US. Don't get one, though, as they need huge amounts of space. The setups that you have on youtube would also be highly unsuitable for a hatchling.
@KnightOfXenu that's typical behaviour for a young lace monitor. Just fearful, nothing more. Every lace monitor I've had has been similar when young, although this one is maybe a bit more nervous than most. Up until a couple of months ago I didn't see it at all because it was hiding all of the time. Eventually it will be just like the others, not through human contact but through slow desensitization.
@azemiopsfeae I have both types of lace monitors here and I much prefer the striped ones over the bells. Alex, the big one at the end of the video, has to be seen up close.
@LegitReptiles No, they are not illegal here in Southern California. No monitor species is.
However, they aren't available very readily. Prehistoric pets has a couple, at least they did last time I was there. I don't know if they are "for sale" or not.
Why does your lace monitor look like this all the other ones have alot thiner stripes

@fbmxer I wasn't talking about housing hatchlings or juveniles. It's the adults you're not going to have space for.

just curious, but why do you need a permit for lace monitor?
great video anyway :-)

@lynsey9814 all reptiles need permits in Australia.

Why is Satan so hostile towards humans? Is it the result of age or amount of human contact? Or just a variation in personality between animals?

@LegitReptiles Man that bites. I got to see how much a permit is now. Unfortunately, I don't even think there are any babies here except in zoos.
