@eilyak123 Well, I'm not, 'coz I don't have a driving license! LOL! Seriously though, there're other ways to tell the 3 lights apart. They're always in the same order from top to bottom. Also, the amber one is either on at the same time as the red, or it's flashing. For me, the red and amber lights look like different brightnesses of the same colour, but the green stands out. Usually red and green look similar to me. Maybe it's different with lights.

No, because being color blind means you lack certain color receptors in the retina. The reason a normal color vision person can be made to see like a colorblind person is because the glasses filter out certain colors and thus in effect removing certain color receptors.

However, I do often laugh when they ask "What colour is that?" because I know that 9 times out of 10 as soon as the words "I'm colour blind" leave my lips, those will be the next words to leave theirs!

Good Video: I'm "color blind" and found out when I was 16 trying to get my pilot lic. What you are saying is true. Immediately people ask how I see traffic lights. I have no problem with them unless they are flashing like in a intersection that has one side stop and the other yield. Watching the weather channel radar is difficult seeing the red. Reading maps, Fixing photos, cooking meats, wiring electronics, picking out clothes. I always show my friends vischeck (dot) com for examples.

MMM I have a deffective screen that allow me to see how is it to be color blind. Of course it depends on witch color is missing but the green one is never missing thats why theese glasses are green. Also Yellow is a variation of frequency between red and green so collor blinds can see Green Yellow and Cian. But they can't see Red and Blue Or maybe they just can't see blue or red. It depends really.

Im red green colorblind. While most things are fine at times I miss signs, color buttons or can't read things because of the colors chosen. There are sites allowing web designers to view their own page as a colorblind person would see it. A page may look great to the designer but if I can't see it I keep going! This is also true of video games. I don't play them at all because its too frustrating to play. A designer's awareness of colorblindness when choosing game elements would fix that.

probably because it's a different way of seeing the world. When I look at color blind simulators, I notice that green is similar to my green, just not as "electric" looking which can be a good thing in certain situations. It is said that people with red/green color deficiency can pick out camouflage way better than someone who does not have it. Compared to birds, however, we are all colorblind because they see even more colors than a human who is not color blind. It's all relative.

well, actually it is in the X chromosome, and because men only have one, they only need to get one colorblind x chromosome. because women have 2 x chromosome and colorblindness isnt a dominant trait, they need both chromosome to be colorblind. This means that the father would have to be colorblind and the mother could either be a carrier or fully be colorblind. So if the mother and father are colorblind, there is a 100% chance that the child will be colorblind.

Color blindness is in the X that is true, female has two Xs and male has XY. For a woman to be colorblind both the XXs must carry the colorblind defect, and that DOES HAPPEN.

I feel sorry for such people, but here's the problem. Expecting the rest of the world not to use certain color combinations just because it's a problem for a few percent of people makes no sense.

And not all genetic problems are entirely untreatable. It depends on if gene therapy may help. And in the future, genetic screening for such issue will reduce or eliminate such problems. That is, is somebody doesn't decide that color-blind is a culture that need preserved and respected. :P
