People probably say he messed up because they don't know what it actually is SUPPOSED to sound like. I don't really think he messed up either. He just has a tendency not to annunciate very well. That works for rock music (take Eddie Vedder, for example). I will admit that I don't think his voice is best suited to this kind of music though. Tyler can belt a rock anthem with the best of them, but perhaps the national anthem just isn't his bag.
