  • at about 1:40, sounds exactly like the theme song from Dave Chapelle's the Niggar family

  • Damn, this is amazing!!!!

  • Amazing!

  • save money on less musicians

  • my mind is officially blown.want,lol.

  • cool its like a chapman stick but its a guitar

  • Hey, y-all ! PEACE PLEASE !

It is awesome as a MIDI controller, and also simply awesome for a Bass Player to be able to ambidextruously play a solo trumpet line...! My felicitations and respect, bro...! Also to the maker of the instrument..!

  • sounds like old skool video game background music

  • Interesting idea on an instrument and its incredible to be able to play two separate melodies like that on ONE instrument.

  • I have to get myself one o' those....

  • Optimus Prime called

    He wants his dick back

  • the tunning must be a bitch!

  • :(

  • Music for old farts? Bullshit, I love Thelonious Monk. And I am not old fart.

  • @snakeweirdo no*

  • i can't even hear it

  • @roamerreed a lot of people don't realize that the guitar is playing the trumpet sound, and bass at the same time. Thanks for watching.

  • @georgietirebiter Wow man I'm glad a read this comment right away. I feel dumb for not making the connection right away haha!

  • @georgietirebiter over hear in the UK we have a phrase for this

    ' He smacked it '

  • @georgietirebiter thats crazy! how is he doing that?!

  • @roamerreed it like pooty tang hahaha

  • god damn

  • no se escucha la guitarrota o ...no se puede entender escencialmente el sonido propio de la misma.

  • wtf?

  • Jim, thanks , your trumpet (improvisional ) playing synyh, as you are providing rythem and bass, and you were not wearing a hat.ah ya,I love ya man

  • tht looks extremely difficult, good job sir

  • What a wonderful little jazz combo! I'd be honored to sit and sip tea and coffee while you "guys" bebopped in the corner! Hope you're all doing well, and playing the venues you deserve these days! Lovin' it!!!

  • Terrible!!

  • whoa left hand baseline right hand trumpet solo.

  • the synth is cool, and the players are indeed talented. but for some reason I can't get into this kind of music. no matter how much I try it still sounds like poop :c

  • Is that a curved soprano sax?

  • I'm very impressed but that guitar is ugly as sin.

  • I'm into a completely different style of music, punk based heavy electronic dance music, but this is simply amazing! Very impressive! I've played guitar for 7 years now and to me those 6 strings are enough, this is a bit stunning. Props man!

  • @CrazyGeistProduction and you are showing your ignorance. This is a tune written by black composer Thelonious Monk. You need to learn more from polite people, I say.

  • @georgietirebiter Let alone good music.

  • @CrazyGeistProduction Jazz was the main driving force behind appreciation of african americans.

  • @CrazyGeistProduction So, Race indicates music talent?

Do explain this, but before you do, let me grab my cocktail and take a seat.

  • Jim is better without the hat.... as a matter of fact , Jim is fantastic

  • I think WARR guitars are for those who play either bass, guitar or both but don't necessarily want to switch to piano. It's not that hard to play this kind of instrument if you been playing a string instrument. the only thing I find hard about it is the fact that you have to play both bass and treble at exactly the same time.

  • Haha, For the longest time I was thinking to myself that I couldn't hear the guitar closest to him. Didn't realize he was synthing a trumpet

  • Technology is a just a "tool". It takes the right kind of player to make something wonderful come out of it, and needs an audience of people who are willing to open their minds :) That was awesome :D I AM an "old fart" of 47, but I love Death Metal/Math Metal, Tech-Thrash, Prog Rock/Metal, Classical, Soundtrack Scores, Jazz/Fusion, Blues, Classic Rock and in-between-I think the more you experience, the more youre open to some great musics :). Cheers!

  • how are people this talented not making it big? I really do not get it

  • what is this i dont even

  • Got enough stings?

  • 0:41, bingo player XD

  • Cool stuff.

    Kudos fr the post

  • The saxophone player is ugly

  • ...Have fun restringing that!

  • Imagine restringing it.

  • This is intense, love it.

  • @amnesia271 Also at 1.33 I thought I was gonna here some minor swing :P

  • @georgietirebiter sorry, I wasn't trying to be mean, this Synth guitar thing is amazing, but I'm just a simple classic bass player producing indie music (and I'm probably an old fat fart myself, being nealy 40 Y.O....) thinking there's way too many strings there....

  • @flairs thanks for responding so kindly. I just entertain whoever is sitting in the seats. You might like my Crepuscule with Fido vids. The music is a bit more up to date (Zappa), and the synth is more background so you hear what the guitar is capable of doing. Audience is a trifle younger, but the vid quality not as good as this one.

    All the best!

  • @flairs yeah, but if you think about it, how many octaves can a guitar do? And how many can a piano do? As a guitar player i always feel the need for a 7th string, for more bass, and one string would give me just 3 notes more for scales...

  • @flairs if you're producing indie music, how can you be so ignorant lol

  • music for old farts

  • @flairs probably true-but you haven't sold me on the "young douche-bag" mind-set, either!

  • @georgietirebiter I disagree, the young generation is getting to know the old Jazz-legends.

  • @flairs I'm 18 and I love jazz.

  • @flairs And young guys like me who love free-form jazz. Play it!

  • @flairs Youre not too young at all , dumbfuck.

  • now thats what you call a bass guitar

  • i seen william dotto do something like this, what kind of effect is that? my first guess is that he's filtered through a synth

  • that must have some weight to it, good playing btw

  • O_O

  • Awesome stuff Jim. this is Phil from Studio Dee

  • very cool!

  • don't let nobody kid you man , you are incredibly talented to pull that off. Thumbs up.

  • wow how much for that monstrosity looking instrument. hahah nice synth sound what was it trumpet? it reminds me of the Chapman Stick. Is it similar in anyway?

  • as awesome as this is, i can't imagine waking up and saying, "hm. i think i'm going to use my musicianship to master a...a...SYNTH GUITAR!"

  • @voxbox18 I guess you didn't look at any of the other videos to see that I mainly play guitar/bass with the Warr, and the synth is just an adjunct. I'm not a one-trick pony, as you see so often in the music world these days. This video just shows how well this synth-guitar system works. If you look at the Crepuscule with Fido vids, you'll see how good the guitar side can sound for rock. If you look at the other Fuzzy Logic vids, you'll see how good it can sound for jazz.

  • @georgietirebiter

i didn't mean it in a bad way, man. i was just trying to be funny. i mean, look at you rock out. i couldn't play a normal six string that well to save my life. i just meant that it's kind of an odd instrument to look at and play.

  • @voxbox18 Thanks for watching and being so nice. Sorry about the dick-ish response, and appreciate your clearing it up.

  • @voxbox18 What, you mean like Alan Holdsworth did?

  • @00Ibanezist00

    what do you mean?

  • @voxbox18 Well it sounded like you were implying that the synth guitar has no use.

  • @00Ibanezist00

bro, before i saw this vid, i didn't know the synth guitar existed. and i don't know who Alan Holdsworth is either.

  • @voxbox18 It's cool man! We all come from different walks of life. But if you like what you see here, you should definitely check him out. He is a God among many guitarists c-:

  • WTF!!!! I'm speechless, it took me a min to realize the solo was coming from the guitar too!!! I thought it was really a horn player playing. WOW, amazing!!! Great Job

  • @NJhrdcore09 Thanks for watching! If you like your music a bit heavier, please check out my "Crepuscule ..." vids, as they are shows featuring Zappa's music.

I really appreciate your kind comments.

  • Wow that is amazing. Watching a man play bass and guitar/synth at the same time. Even though this is jazz, its pretty damn metal. You guys are awesome.

  • superb

  • Those ladies look pleased.

  • This is somewhat sleek. You're keeping the bassline going as well . . . How do you even remember to stand up while all that is going on?

  • who needs a chapman stick when you can have a million string guitar?

  • that was great playin, pitty it was goin through a crappy midi sound, woulder been lush to hear it raw

  • the old lady at 0:45 looks exactly identical to the log lady from twin peaks

  • Now this is impressive! Classic tune too.

  • Wow, took me a minute to realize the solo was coming form the guitar! Holy crap! I've seen a lot of Warr guitar and chapman stick, but never with a synth. That's really cool.

Is the synth something built in to the guitar or is it in a foot pedal? I don't really know anything about guitar synth, I've heard Metheney and other guys use it but I still don't know how it works

  • @BrighamHB

The guitar has piezo bridge saddles and is triggering a Roland GR-30. I helped Warr Guitars develop this system and my black guitar (which can be seen in the Crepuscule with Fido videos on my channel), was the first touch guitar to use it. It works so much better than the Roland magnetic pickups, and has a nice acoustic sound, too.

Thanks for watching and commenting so kindly.

  • @BrighamHB Please excuse the late response. Pickups in the bridge are triggering a guitar synth (Roland GR-30)

    Thanks for commenting and watching!

  • look at all those sexy groupies! dibs on the chick with the coffee cup... hottie

  • I'd fucking HATE having to restring that.

  • why not just buy a Trumpet or a synth??? show off ;)

  • i see this place is full of "young" ppl and a lot of head bangers at 0:40 LOL

  • how much money did that thing cost you (i say thig cause i dont know how is tghe name of the instrument, but if you want me to say it, i will say, basitar

  • Comment removed

  • Good jam session, but i feel like i'm stuck in an elevator.

  • Very cool, and just think of all the money saved from not buying PICKS!

  • nice !

  • please do another video where the 'trumpet' is quieter!! maybe us old rockers are a bit deaf, but I can't hear a bllody thing!!!

  • Hi---Do you realize that the trumpet is being played by the guitar?

     Thanks for watching!

  • @georgietirebiter oh god! I can see it now!(sorry!) that's amazing! It completely fooled me !Can you also programme the guitar synth to emmulate drums?that would look amazing to watch ,if doing a "drum-solo"! I feel like an idiot now!!! :)

  • @kernowrock555 No need to say your sorry. It happens a lot. Yes, can be done with drums or loops...and I'm also playing bass at the same time.

If you like rock music, please check out my "Halloween 2009" video. It's all the music of Frank Zappa, and you can hear how good the "normal" guitar sounds.

    Thanks!

  • robots

  • this guys fucking amazing

  • ehhh

  • wow! what an amazing instrument! And nice job, nice job! Encore!

  • the best thing i have ever seen

  • wow, just incredible.

  • person at :44, male or female? lolz

  • Rhythm changes! Very nice.

  • WOW!

  • Great stuff. It's a shame to think that the audience didn't really appreciate the musicianship, but I could be wrong.

  • Sheer AMAZING two-hand independence, note choices sounding like a horn as well fantastic tracking (I imagine piezos, I don't see any external pickups and piezos tend to track far better) but simply from my point-of-view I prefer the look & "style" of a Chapman Stick as a Touchstyle Instrument. I'd like to pick one up (a bassist and longtime TLev/Greg Howard/Sean Malone fan here) and *for me* the ergonomics and lack of a body & therefore weight would work better on my small frame w/ bad back...

  • Thanks for watching and commenting so kindly. You are correct about piezos. I played the other instrument for 18 years (see the Intuition vid), and had many problems with my wrists, bruising (from the belt), and a condition known as epididymitis. If you look at their forum right now you will see many similar complaints.

The Warr tone is better (especially the bass), and the Slider strap I use means absolutely no problems of any kind, and I'm only 5'7".

    All the best!

  • Ahh for all those bands that just can't find a bass player and a guitar player at the same time lmfao talented but useless

  • A 24 yo drummer with an over-inflated ego saying someone is talented but useless. I love it!

  • @netcashthomas its obviously not useless if this video just showed it being useful

    -.-

  • Increible.

  • yeah its the same idea as piano but its a lot harder to sound clean when youre doing 2 handed tapping, this for instance could be THE, if not, one of the hardest instruments to learn whereas the piano is the easiest... at the time i learned piano i only had 3 years of guitar under my belt and i was amazed at how simple the layout was and how simple it is to physically play. this instrument however, requires a machine quality musician to play it.

  • Playing one-handed is quite simple, and easier than guitar or bass alone. It's playing two ideas at once that makes it so hard. My tuning is simpler than the "standard" tuning, and within 4 years of beginning this tuning I could play pieces that were impossible after 18 years of "standard". See my "Knitting Factory' video, or any of the "Crepuscule with Fido" videos for the hard stuff.

  • @pantera4lyf i agree, ridiculously hard to play. i think the trombone is still the hardest instrument to play tho, but this comes very close

  • What makes this harder than a piano exactly?

  • Smaller target area in the upper frets, and the fact that most pianists are not playing a bass line, unless they are playing solo.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Soloing on top of your own bass riff...that's impressive by anyone's standard.

  • Mezzo-Soprano Saxophone?

  • Curved soprano sax. Most are made straight, but this one's an antique.

  • That thing is HUGE! I think it's incredible that people are actually able to play it, I wouldn't find my way on it! I'll just stick to my guitars, you hang on to those 5 stars I just gave you! ;-)

  • that crazy mother from behold the arctopus uses one of these too.

  • How can you get a thumbs down for saying something that's true? Whether they like that band or not is opinion, but true matters can't be negated. lol

  • who needs a bassist when you have this Warr?? love it!

  • Or a guitarist, if you already have a bassist... ;)

  • OMG!! how many strings is tat

  • Amazing!!

  • This is so good. I could listen to this all day.

  • Dont those old fuckers KNOW WHAT TALENT IS!!!! I would have told those crippled fuckers to give me a standing ovation.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting. These days, in this economy, I'm just glad that anybody shows up for gigs.

  • a true musican dont need glory. dont know why i wasted my time telling you that tho.

  • hi, i love to see something i have imagined has already been brought to reality - very well done. i am curious - how many strings are midi-fied. i was curious to have a 7 or 8 string turned into midi triggers and told by everyone that only 6 of the strings could be picked up or that the 7th and 8th strings would be piggybacked and therefore not simultaneously playable with two other strings. anyway, awesome playing - my congratulations.

  • Thanks for watching and your kind comments.

All 12 strings are able to trigger, but 2 guitar-synths must be used to do so. What you have been told is true in my experience, however, what you could do with the upper 6 triggering is very fun and amazing. As the pitch goes lower, response time slows, unless you are using a modeler, like the VG devices. Anything below guitar low E lags a bit, and some synths will not respond below the A below that.

  • La guitarra suena como saxo, similar a Pat Metheny

  • i have never seen a warr played so well. thank you for brightening the world of music.

  • Thank you for brightening my day with such a kind comment!

  • no mamen!! puro ruco!!!

  • Although I don't like synths to mimick other instruments, it serves the purpose here... and the two hand tapping is brilliant!!! Well done...

  • i play trumpet.. and that is very well played and sampled. Congrats on awesome playing

  • Thank you for watching, and brightening my day with such a nice compliment!

  • hi. wich guitar synth and wich esaphonic pickup do you use? thx

  • The synth is a Roland GR-30, and the pickups are bridge-mounted piezo saddles made by RMC.

  • thx you very much. i use an ibanez rg. is possible to install on it this piezo pick up? i use the roland gr33 but with gk2a do not sound so good..

  • aw...i love jazz

    you guys are cool!!!

  • thats revolutionary

  • The audience is so exhilarated.

  • i know its like there not even there and its just a video of a coffee shop mixed with a video of a concert

  • that trumpet sound come from the guitar??? :O

  • Thats because the guitar is being midi-ed through a synthesizer. Jerry Garcia would sometimes do the same thing with his guitar.

  • what is that instrument? some ppl say its a guitar, some ppl say its called a chapman stick. im confused T_T

  • Its a warr guuitar

kind of like a variation on the chapman stick.

  • is that a guitar??

  • its half guitar half bass

  • I think it's half full guitar and half extended bass. ;)

  • I've got witnesses that put you in pasadena that day... should've gone to specsavers.

  • nice work...but Monk is spinning a bit....

  • Thanks for watching and commenting. If you watch the documentary "Straight, No Chaser" you'll see that spinning was one of Monks favorite things to do...

  • LOL good one

  • its teh trumpet sounds, thats him

  • вот мужик старается, въебывает по полной, а эти суки там сидят жрут, пиздят о своем.

  • <
