Awesome rendition, Rob! I still consider the Beyond 2000 theme as one of the best, most inspiring TV themes in history. Very intelligent music, subtle yet powerful. Believe or not, but I have to admit I prefer your version over the original :) Thank you!!
One of the reasons the new show blew: LACK OF THIS THEME.
Others:
- LACK OF SIMILAR TITLE (Beyond 3000 really hard?)
- Trying to call it BEYOND TOMORROW'S MYTHBUSTERS. That last one is what lost most geeks. Because it was just revoiced when the real deal was on SBS in the same week!
- Weaker presenting/dumbing down. See Catalyst do this? NO.
@tallaussiebloke Yes, I agree with you on ALL of those facts. I don't think Beyond Tomorrow had the same crew. Sadly, I think they probably went on to do other things before B.T. came on. I used to watch Beyond 2000 every time it was on TV. Beyond Tomorrow on youtube cannot compare to the original & they feel more like advertisements. Myth Busters SUCKS: "Can an elevator cut a car in half like in the Green Hornet movie?" What a joke. BTW - Did you see the Beyond 2000 Crop Circle clip?
Man I wish Discovery Networks would bring this show back along with the next step much better television then these crap shows that are on now. Brings back memories this was really a true show to forecast of things one can dream of for the future the show was ahead of it's time for sure.
Amazing job! This is a great theme that has aged much better than Henry Tenenbaum. I watch him every now and then at KRON 4 here in San Francisco. Henry seems like a very nice guy, brings back all those great memories of the Discovery channel when it was a really good, compared to the poor quality redneck programming we have nowadays. Wish Henry had a more meaningful presence on TV, but guess he's happy at KRON 4 selling furniture and with his garden thing.
Nanny state and political correctness means that kids wreak havoc and get away with it. The computer industry is controlled almost entirely by US companies like Microsoft and the hardware is made in China. TV shows are now focused on this "reality" rubbish like X Factor. We have a bit of snow and everything comes to a grinding halt. Electrical appliances are made in China and don't last more than 5 years.
That's what's REALLY happened beyond 2000 and many other bad things!
This is too cool! I LOVED this show as a kid! I remember thinking that the year 2000 was a year we'd never get to, it would always be out there way in the future. Silly me, I never did the math to figure out that I'd be only be 20 yrs old in 2000! I still remember some of the "cutting edge" inventions they featured on the show. Those were the good old days!
This song suddenly pop-up in my dream yesterday. I was clueless at
first. It stuck in my head for the whole day....Finally realized it's Beyond 2000 theme song....It's been 20 years since i last heard this song. The magic of 80's Tv show...
This was one of my favorite science shows. In the 80's, it was "Beyond Tomorrow' and hosted by it's reporters, in the 90's, it was hosted by Henry Tennebaum from KRON TV out of San Fransisco, and passed 2000, it was then just called 'Beyond'.
I also love the theme that was produced by 'Twilight Productions', so moving and energetic! So let's all Pump Up The Volumn!
@PhysStud2006 The musical score was produced by Twilght Productions and I have been looking for this for over passed 2 decades. They should have done a cd of this Energetic Artistry!
@michaeldbenson Thanks for the information! I totally agree. A "Beyond Tomorrow" soundtrack would have been great. Its beyond roughly 15+ years for me since I heard this song. YouTube has revived a lot of memories for me. Thanks to Roblove2007!
What a great thing to do. A great song to start with and you greatly improved. An original one minute short version is on amazon's mp3 downloads on the australia's greatest hits album. Too short with it's '86 toy keyboard. Yours is full, bold and energetic. If you were kind enough to send me a mp3 I would be super happy. Thanks so much. jbtv@aol.com
i love this theme, like a bloke once said to me, not one instrument in it wasn't made useing a midi keyboard haha - i dont care!! i was about 8 or 9 when i'd record it with an audio cassette tape to listen to it back, don't know what it is but i think for an 80s kid the show and the intro was exciting heading in to the computer decade.. this remake is great but i'd love to hear something that would blow us away... wish i had talent
@TheCastellan Define "fun" for computers please. I for one never enjoyed having to learn command lines in a GUI-less operating environment "back then".
You bloody ripper mate! This song brings back great feelings of growing up in the 80's, the only other copies I've found are ripped from dodgy old VHS.... ugh
This is awesome! You crafted this yourself? If so, you did a great job creating a full blown song from the small segment of the theme that I recalled listening to. I'm definitely digging this, and think you should create an album, you've got a ton of talent. This should definitely be on the list should you create an album.
I remember Beyond 2000 at Sky One when first ground satellites were born and my country Poland - distributors when I was 10, gave me through my father acces to the Sky One and Star Trek, Ninja Turtles and many others I cherish and never will forget. @dragonheadthing I totally was just thinking about that... Paul and Phil have done radio here in Sacramento for years... I couldn't remember what show they had a spot on.
Yes, I used to watch Beyond 2000 here in the US on Discovery Channel and I remember the theme music and the show itself very well. In fact, I loved watching it. Seeing this video brought back memories from all those years ago.
It's a darn good thing you couldn't find the original! This is absolutely stunning! Sure, it has a very odd set of notes that would make any teenager go psycho from listening to it, but this is classic! Thanks :)
I remember this show and theme well, they just don't put in the effort these days, TV is dumbed down now to suit the masses.
It's funny because back in the late 80's I saw futuristic concept cars like Mitsubishi HSRII etc and thought that by that magic year 2000, it would be common to drive at 200 to 300 Km/h, now we are forced to drive slower every year with confusing and ever changing speed zones with revenue cameras to catch us off guard, driving is a pain in the butt now!
@TheCastellan Well, for right now, it's all you have unless you like horse travel and giving up A/C and Heat. Humans use what they have at their disposal. Hatred of oil isn't needed and isn't fruitful. Understanding, profit and better uses are needed and are fruitful.
@scienceofthings The problem is that in the 1960's American scientists were looking into space based solar power, then when oil became very cheap they got dropped as well as such excellent tech in favour of money. Now we have Nuclear meltdowns and people saying 'we learn from our mistakes' Why the hell don't they just move onto new tech? We have the capability but it always looks like people are more interested in money than advancing to what we could have.
@hihosh1 You aren't completely wrong. Several things to consider are present here. I am sure that waiting until an earthquake happened to disrupt an operational nuclear plant to scorn me on the uses of such recently unpopular power was convenient for you, but it's a fad (unless you are a tree hugger) and angry and jealous/envious people always think they know better, but they are fools.
@scienceofthings I only read your post a day ago and wanted to comment as I am not jealous or envious, I am frustrated that our tech level is being hampered by money and greed. I am not scorning you in any way. I am just tired of us using the same tired old way of burning or boiling something to get energy which we have been using for the past 100 years. I grew up with this show and saw all the things they said were possible and am frustrated that we haven't reached there thanks to money.
@hihosh1 That goes for both the poor and the powerful. The poor desire money they don't have and the rich & powerful desire maintaining of power (corporations and politicians). Money drive them all as well as business. Whether you like it or not, vision to create was the precursor to the money. The usefulness of the creation was demanded and made people rich.
@hihosh1 Those people gained influence (relevance) and power. No one wants to be irrelevant or powerless (especially after having power), so they try to hold that money, power, or relevance in place. That is dangerous. Money as a driving force has made everything we use, even our computers. Companies may suppress new technology to hold their tired, old, out-dated grasp of power and that is dangerous.
@scienceofthings That is exactly what interests me about this show, looking back, 15+ years later: SUPPRESSED TECHNOLOGY. So many things I saw on this show were just about ready. They would make some things obsolete and make your life easier, safer and better. But its never been released. I think big companies and their massive wealth go around a BUY UP technology and patents, then put it on the shelf for 50 years, trickling it out. DO YOU HAVE ANY RECORDINGS OF THIS SHOW? I need it for research
@mrjustin5 Unfortunately, I have no episodes on hand. If I were to stumble upon them, they would be on old VHS tapes. I'll keep an eye out for them. Some clips can be found on here, but I am reasonably sure you know that by now.
@hihosh1 It's dangerous when politicians help that cause of holding power to gain more power for themselves, but that is the kind of scum humans can be. "Any man can withstand adversity. If you want to test a man's character, give him power." - Abraham Lincoln. Rich or poor, powerful or not: those things aren't problem. Human nature is the problem and it always has been. "No matter what you do, no matter how awful, no-one ever thinks that they're a bad person." - Talented Mr. Ripley
@mif73 Government will kill innovation through laws and regulation for its own sake (money and/or power) and it may do so at the behest of stupid people who don't understand incentive for the wealthy to generate ideas with their money is more profit. We may never see much of what we dreamed of when we watched this show, but we have seen some amazing things: internet (government's trying kill that one off as we speak), Xbox Live, cell phone integration with the net, etc. for better or worse.
Thank you greatly for such a fantastic recreation of one of the catchiest themes on TV in the 80's/90's. I grew up watching Beyond 2000 on TV here in Australia and this brings back many a happy memory. Is there any chance you may be able to make this avaliable as an MP3?
Also, any plans to remake/remix any other TV themes?
Isn't it quite sad we're resorting to actually recreating our nostalgia on our own all because some suit is too busy thinking of profit potential than just pleasing the fans?
Fans are an effective marketing resource. It's a shame really.
I'm not saying you didn't have fun, but like I said, it's a shame such things can only be recreated by fans because there are no legitimate ways to obtain such things.
Gracias tremendos recuerdos. I wish it was then so much hope for the future. We are 10 years into the future we saw adn we still have not seen the changes that were promise. Thank you so much!!
I can't believe my ears! This music is awesome! It raises the hairs on the back of my neck! Superb remake! Very faithful to the originals!
I love this show & what it stood for - technologies that could set us free! I've contacted Beyond 2000 & inquired about purchasing some episodes. They would have to transfer each episode off of 1/2" reel-to-reel video tape.
Technologies in this show should be around today, but instead they are suppressed by large companies or Gov.'s for profit and control.
Ahhh fantastic! Was 8 years old when we lived in Australia for a year and something about this music stuck with me - also been looking for it without success. Very glad you re-recorded it. It sounds very accurate - did you do that from memory?
hahaha he meant... the title of that show in spanish was UNA VENTANA HACIA EL FUTURO , by that time i didnt speak english but i remember the BEYOND 2000 thing and now we are in 2009.. wow! the spanish name means: a window to the future.
Ohhh Roblove 2007, you are excellent!! I love this tune totally. I am glad you were able to compile a full version of the 1987 theme. This is one of my favourite tunes! Thanks again.
Thanks.... Thou, I did'nt compile it.. I rewrote it from scratch. Hey.. Colin Kiddy.. australian dude. He was wrong to forget that people still remember his old stuff and yet you can't get this track anywhere. That's why I recreated this. Thanks friend..
Because this program, i'm now engineering... BEST SHOW together with "THE NEXT STEP"...

I need it for research
mrjustin5 10 months ago

Also, any plans to remake/remix any other TV themes?
austranz 2 years ago 2
Isn't it quite sad we're resorting to actually recreating our nostalgia on our own all because some suit is too busy thinking of profit potential than just pleasing the fans?
Fans are an effective marketing resource. It's a shame really.
cesariojpn 2 years ago 2
Yea your right. but ,I had some fun creating this....
roblove2007 2 years ago
I'm not saying you didn't have fun, but like I said, it's a shame such things can only be recreated by fans because there are no legitimate ways to obtain such things.

Technologies in this show should be around today, but instead they are suppressed by large companies or Gov.'s for profit and control.
mrjustin5 2 years ago
Thanks. I often wondered what would ever happen to those tapes that they have.. will they ever be aired again in a kinda nostalgia channel...?
roblove2007 2 years ago
85% of the stuff they've shown would be obsolete by now.

Thanks.... Thou, I did'nt compile it.. I rewrote it from scratch. Hey.. Colin Kiddy.. australian dude. He was wrong to forget that people still remember his old stuff and yet you can't get this track anywhere. That's why I recreated this. Thanks friend..
