Yes, she has said she never changes, everyone else changes, and I repspect her for the fact that she never changes and I have never changed either - still with the bangs, the long skirts, the intense lyrics applied indirectly to my life - it may have been my 10 year addiction to snorting cocaine, my 10 year addiction to Klonopin or my 10 year addiction to food and alcohol that has lead me to this point in my life where I feel as though I have so much in common with Stevie Nicks.
I have been listening to her since the 70's and after all the decades she still shines! I love her concerts and dressing like her. It is always a lot of fun! She is an inspiration to many women. One of a kind. God gave her a WONDERFUL voice and a beautiful spirit. She sings from the heart. And with so many bands coming out with lyrics that are violent, it makes me appreciate her that much more. :)
my mum absolutley love her.. and she was going to name me after here.. i wish she did, she has an amazing voice and she is so beautiful! she is my idol!
@caitieamoo Was she going to name you 'Stephanie' or 'Stevie'? An interesting story here if you don't already know it; how Stevie got her name?? Her mother named her Stephanie but as a young child, Nicks had trouble pronouncing this & it would come out 'Tee-Dee'. So everyone began calling her this; later on 'Tee-Dee' became 'Stevie'. However, to this day, her mom still calls her 'Tee-Dee'.
I never understood why she didn't include this song in more of her solo sets. First song from her first album, one of my favorite albums of all time. Maybe it's a hard song to perform live, I don't know. It sure sounds good here though.
not that she is retired but can we start all over again from 1974 to now one day at a time so we can take it all in again listening to her again and don't change a thing.we are all so blessed to be living in her era and the decades of music we have indured. god thank you for a stevie nicks in my time.
@nightbyrd73 you're so right, and the crappy thing is most of those gimmicks end up hurting their career in the long run.. except gaga, who earns her oats with nonsense, and we eat it up anyways.
@TheSeafood Well for those of us who may not be the most educated, belladonna is indeed a perennial plant but the phrase "Bella Donna" means beautiful lady in Italian. In this song Stevie is making referance to a beautiful lady who may not be so beautiful anymore because she's going through a tough time (i.e. "come in out of the darkness"). Also "...but the woman is so tired and so the woman disapears". She's fading away but needs to come back to her true self which is a Bella Donna.
@eanhard Relax! true enough but we're stevie fans...no need to get feisty. remember all her songs, even the ones with heartache are never bitter or nasty. its her lesson to us all... ALL of her fans, that it can be that way in life. getting through and over things with loving memories and feelings. cheers! im sure you didnt mean it that way! :-)
That song is just a masterpiece. It brings back amazing memories. I'd never heard a live version of this song before. Thank you so much for sending it out there...
It's kind of funny,I have a good friend in Chico who always refers to me as Stevie Nicks.. I had the skirts, the boots, sang it played it on my guitar...
years later when I heard she did dog piles of cocaine daily, I would have never known.... but I would have done it to I am sure.. I love you Stevie..
thank you flaming crystal for making this creative photo-shoot of a very sexy performer who still never scares herself with powers of bella donna . . .

stevie nicks is an awesome singer and her bella donna album is her best one. I have it on vinyl which i took from my mom and then i bought the cd so i could listen to it in the car. Stevie rocks
I agree the Bella Donna HBO performances was mes one of her best! I don't knock the Red Ricks performance . Bella Donna was rawand real. Dtevie becoming more than Fleetwood Mc and Lindsay Buckinghan but still humble and appreiative of the persons who made all of thid poddiblr. She is a great lady.
I've always loved this song and never understood why she never released it as an actual single. It has such a country flavor. I guess she opted to release "After the Glitter Fades," which did receive airplay on the country stations.
I remember hearing this song in 1981 in a small Miami comic book store called A & M. The song came on while I was looking for The Black Panther comic book and it made sense to me thought I was only 11 years old. Maybe it was the sincerity of the song mixed in with the Black Panther concept that created a background theme for me from that point on. Gracias Steve Nicks! Gracias Huey P. Newton!
It's a crying shame the HBO special "In Concert" video has so few songs. I guess the video for Bella Donna and the other songs she performed will remain unseen forever? :(
I have seen Stevie there (Compton Terrace) with Joe Walsh. It was a great night. I called the place to ask a question a week before the show, and he dad answered. I spoke to him for a few, he was very nice and polite.
Ah, Compton Terrace. Yeah, her dad owned it. We'd just moved to Phx a few months before and went to her concert in '87, after seeing her in Saratoga, NY in '86. In '87 (or was it Dec. 88, I believe on the 7th?) she had that huge hair. We actually were caught in a rainstorm, but she stll came out after the worst was over. So sad that Compton Terrace is only a skeleton now. (I live near there.) So different from the huge machanized venues today.
One of the most unique and best voices in rock there ever was. Stevie Nicks has always been one of my favorites and an artist worth listening to. She really makes your heart and mind stir and she's given so much for so long. One of her most intense and soulful tunes. You really gotta hear everything she does, you'll be glad you took the time. stevie thanks for the memories and the awesome tunes over the years. Clevelands own...Tena

Hi ! You seem to know Fleetwood Mac very much ; I like this band, and had read that the song "Sara" had been written about her best friend that died. Is what I've read true or like another guy tells me, the song "Sara" has nothing to see with her friend? Thanks for advance, if you got the time to answer ! BYE !
No, Gypsy was written about coming back from so much fame...back down to her roots "Back to the gypsy...that I was..." She got a small place & lived in a room decorated with "paper flowers"...I heard her say so in a interview
These pictures were taken on Dec 5, 1981 while Stevie performed at The Compton Terrance. At that time the terrance was part of Legend City. I was there for this performance. The show was awesome and I got to touch Stevie's hand while they hung out on a balcony in Legend City! Stevie you will always be my Bella Donna- I just seen you in Tucson, Az at McKale Center on Tusk tour August 28, 1980.Keep on Rockin Stevie!

This is the first Stevie song I ever heard, and I remember loving the passion and emotion in Stevie's voice, as well as the beautiful lyrics. She is an amazing studio artist, and then that's amplified by about a million when she gets on the stage. Stevie is a one off, she's got the voice, the talent, the presence, the look. This song is so profound, thanks for posting.
