People think the old ones are the best because they were kids then.

I do agree though that there is a bias in the generations of kids that are fans but a true fan analyzes the entire franchise as a whole and on that notion it's clear the new stuff is pathetic by comparison to the old.

As for the anime, I think it was always a bit pathetic.
