@Itsooz I guess that depend of what kind of turtle you get. If it lives in water or on land. And how big it gets. I have two red-eared sliders that are pond sliders. And I only have experience with those two fellas. They like both water and to take a suntan on their island. But if you get a pond slider, make sure you get a big aqarium so they have lots of space to chill and swim. And some good waterfilter (EIHEIM is a good brand). But read books and surf the net for more info. Out of characters.

Yeah, very difficult. Mine was just loafing around in apartment. We had corner where we placed food and water for him and he would just come and eat when hungry. Never locked him or anything, the only thing is one must not forget about turtle's presence, otherwise one might kick it accidentally or something...

Tortoises (generally some species over others) explore with their mouths a lot. I havent had a lot of experience with this with Horsfields, but this ones either pretty inquisitive, or could do with something its not getting in its diet. If its the lacking dietary items, try feeding it complete foods with added vitamin powder/calcium to see if this habit stops, or isnt as common.

Either way, very cute. : ) Really liked the pear, haha.
