I can't like this album as a REAL Peppers fan because this album is everything the Peppers are not. It is an album with some really good songs, but it does not have the good energy and fun a chili pepper album would have. This song is just preachy which the Peppers are not.
why do many say this album was bad...but the first time i heard the songs in this album i liked it..i like and love all RHCP's albums..they are all great. i think we should thank Dave for sharing his music to the best band in the universe!
janes addiction was very similar to the peppers back in the day. thts why navarro somewhat worked, its just heavier. Klinghoffer sounds like he'd rather be in radiohead
There are some things with Christianity that irk me. We talked about Reconciliation in Bible class. Somehow, we talked about divorce. The teacher/priest said that when you divorce and remarry, while you're legally split, your sacramentally still involved with your original spouse, thus making remarrying a sin. I completely disagree with this. That's like saying each relationship in your highschool/college life is a sin.
hahahhaha! Oh my! Some comments are hilarious... "I do believe in stuff like Christ coming at the end of time" hell yeah!! I love this kind of people man, they're so creative... must be fun to spend a day with you... lol
lol how many interpretations can u really have for this song? there obviously saying that the church is retarded and evil. if you are a devout christian , u can still listen and like the chili peppers but there is no other interpretation of this song ^ that is what its about period.
@jesmith199 see thats why im Agnostic Catholic. I don't believe there will ever be some hard proof of God. But it's nice to think that i won't be stuck under a pile of dirt fr the rest of enternity
Eh, I don't think it's an attack against God. I think it's about how Christianity makes some things seem scary. I do believe in stuff like original sin and Christ coming at the end of time (hey, it's my religion!) but they do make these things kind of scary.
@waluigithecool2 hes making fun of exactly those things! hes not just lightly saying "oh they make it out to be too scary" hes saying, damn, stop making people live in fear and lying to them. (make your people live in fear is part of the lyrics) and not just christianity, but RELIGION as a whole. "to anyone whose listening youre not born in to sin (telling you religion is a lie and is lying to you), a guilt they try and give you puke it in the nearest bin"
Actually, the more that I think about it, I think they're saying that there's no top-notch religion that everyone has to follow. Well, we all have our interpretations on this song..
Holy fuck I was already caught up in the epicness of christianity from a Native American view point and then the bass blew my mind!!!! I'm so learning how to play.
bro this song is fucking awesome!!! the lyrics are weird tho! theyre good its just like....fuck...theyre weird coming from anthony i guess? lol i mean compare these lyrics to i dunno...funky crime? lolol
One Hot Minute is one of their greatest albums IMO! And this song is amazing! These guys just can't make bad music no matter how they are feeling or who is their guitarist.
I know a lot of people would disagree with me, I think this is by far the best album IMO. I like Dave Navarro as much as JF, I actually thought he fit in with them and showed a side of RHCP we wouldn't have heard if John was in the band since MM. Just wish they played some of this stuff live!
Hopefully with Josh, some OHM material will be played again! And yeah, this side of the Peppers is really badass, and unfortunately might not be revealed again on another album.
This album had some awesome tracks: Falling Into Grace, Aeroplane, Walkabout, and this beast of a song. The energy and drive in this song are awesome and rival any decent metal track. Listen to the sections 0:56 - 1:06, 2:02 - 2:11, and try and tell me it doesn't make you wanna break things. Wicked song!
i hate the way ''new'' fans are pre convinced this album will be bad as it doesnt have john frusciante in it... no offense to john he is an incredible guitarist but this album was incredible, just listen to this song
@watermelon6000 Dave Navaro was the mastermind behind the album, and not John F, so the band never played it after he left, and John pretty much denies it's existence.
@djstavri In anthonys book he says that they dont hate it just that they all agree it came from a time in all of their lives that was very dark either with drugs(ak)alcohol(chad)or family problems(flea) a period they all want to put behind them
@djstavri Here's what I've often said of One Hot Minute: had it been an album by another band entirely, the majority of Peppers fans would have been in ecstasies over it, but I get the feeling they simply felt it out of character for the band. Personally, I adore this album from top to toe, especially "Warped".
This is AMAZING! The bass riff is mind-blowing and the guitar part completes it and creates a third unbelievable entity! No words, as a musician, this is by far my favourite song ever
The lyrics are very very true

Even though I am a Christian, I still do question many things about religion and why certain parts were left out of the Bible, etc.
Just because I believe in God, doesn't mean I have to be closed-minded and accept whatever I'm fed.
