You say plunge like the drop is a few feet. I've seen adult rat terriers do a worse job at stairs (I had one, had to put a ramp up cause he couldn't go down without flipping over his head).

This dog did it no problem, he didn't land on his head, it was always his feet. He didn't have any problem keeping his back legs on one step and his front on the other, he didn't plunge.

I'm sure if he would of 'plunged' down the stairs like you imply that he did, the owner would of backed off.

It's funny and cute and sweet and all that but stop trying to make the puppy go down the stairs. Stairs are obviously not a natural part of an animal's environment and at this stage the puppy's bones are too fragile to handle the impact. It practically has to tumble down each step and it's probably whining because each time it goes down a step IT HURTS. If you don't want to carry it, put a little wooden/plastic ramp up and down the staircase.

i have to agree with this. So many dogs are taken to vets at the ages of 7 and 8 because of severe arthritis and hip problems because of the impact of using stairs and jumping out of cars etc.
