Awwww, there was a good chance that you could have fixed that. Not now though. But for others, just Google the term lens error. The first result has troubleshooting steps for this problem.

@miloqui I read just an hour ago the following: "Fix #4: Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots." my cam actually worked for a few seconds after it was broken for nearly 2 years.

I used this technique to solve the error on my canon A400 and it worked!!! In fact, It works better with a bigger hammer. Thanks for sharing this instructive video.

YEA! I have had the same conclusion with my $400.00 Canon bomb SD900 poor excuse of a camera. I carefully saved the battery and the memory card though I don't know why canon still sells these when they are aware of the problem. Canon even has web sites banned that report this problem.....PIRATES. Thanks for the vid

I have had my Caonon A80 for about 5 years. It has always worked great and use it in the outdoors most of the time. I just started to get this E18 error so I thought I'd look into it. Thank you so must for your video, I now believe I too can repair my camera as you have demonstrated! This is a very educational and hilarious video!!!
