Cardiac arrest is when the heart stops beating. It is not a heart attack, although you can have a cardiac arrest during a heart attack. According to the news report I just saw, Michael Jackson had a cardiac arrest. I don't know anything more about his situation.

@MrPichiyou 'Heart Attack' or Myocardial Infarction is when one of the arteries feeding the heart muscle becomes obstructed and the heart is starved of oxygen and nutrients. This isn't a cardiac arrest as the heart is still functioning and pumping blood. Myocardial infarction can lead to cardiac arrest as the heart muscle becomes damaged and can either stop working, or can go out of sinus (normal) rhythm and stop pumping blood.

@FlyJupiter actually cardiac arrest specifies that the heart does not contract effectively to maintain circulation. It does not mean that it has stopped completely.
