Do you listen to Alice Cooper? I have the original color comic books of The Last Temtation and the album that goes with it. All the songs on the album go with the comic. Have you heard it?
@kungfuhustler84 Annetta had that one, I didn't get around to actually sitting down and reading it but had a good flip through it. Definitely need to get that one for my collection, looked great!

nice collection glad to see you treat your graphic novels with care i see some people on youtube that smack em slam em and throw them all over the place i know theyre not the original comics but still to me its like a piece of art.
@icesamurai8 No, I've only done a few videos about comics. Why not look at my other videos and see for yourself what else I talk about? The titles alone should make it pretty obvious...
@icesamurai8 No. I talk about a variety of things. DVD, Blu-ray, HD, gaming, comic books, collecting, package openings, life in general, whatever. My show is called The Multimedia Chronicles, so I talk about all forms of media.
@Hoshang2 Thanks! It's definitely one of the prizes of my collection, just wish it wasn't falling apart... Seems to be fairly hard to find these days, I just poked around ebay a bit and didn't see it anywhere.
Penguin and Tank Girl are strange bedfellows! Absolutely adore tank girl comics, but the ones they're doing in 2000ad at the moment totally suck - they've lost all their energy and anarchic spirit. shame. Great collection by the way. It's a shame they won't skip forward to the o'neil era batman with those chronicle books. If they're still in the forties it may be quite sometime until we get to the seventies!
Each to their own. I thought it was a wonderful, emotional story that was refreshingly different from any other Batman story I'd read up to that point. Just because unpleasant things happen to a character in the course of a story, doesn't mean the writer hates the character.
Thank you for your continued enthusiasm. But honestly, continually demanding a Part 2 makes me NOT want to do it. Just subscribe, then if/when I do a Part 2 you'll be among the first to know.
Can't forget Robocop. I especially liked Robocop VS The Terminator by Frank Miller. The Robocop series' that Dark Horse put out is far superior than the stuff Avatar Comics has brought out.
First of all Happy NEw Year Zaranyzerak long time no see hahaha You have a nice comic collection you should probably check out these Aliens all the stories are good, Y the last man and Judge Dredd and on a horror but fun way The Walking Dead
Awesome video. I like how it started as a "quick overview" of your collection and turned out to be an epic vid. I really enjoy comics, but don't read as many as I would like. I subscribed to Marvel's Digital comics which is cool, but reading off a screen just isn't the same.
your collection rules, but it's missing Preacher and Watchmen. I have more on the superhero side whereas you seem to have more on the sci-fi side. To each his own I guess. either way, great set up, I might make a video of what I have, or at least my favorites haha
Annetta has Watchmen and V for Vendetta. Haven't read Preacher yet, it's on my list... Yeah, I tend to lean toward sci-fi and horror-type stuff, though I do enjoy some superhero fare from time to time. :)
I've only been in comics since April but I've been into sci fi forever, but I can't seem to get into Sci-Fi comics, dunno why, it's right up my alley but it just doesn't work for me. I'd like to see some of the individual issues you have but that would have to be a five part series I'm sure.
Most of the sci-fi comics I enjoyed were some of the slightly more "mature" stuff, like there were a few from Epic comics that were really good (Six from Sirius, Dreadstar, etc.), thogh I enjyoed some "lighter" fare as well - I was a HUGE fan of ROM: Spaceknight (I have the complete set of those, will definitely do a vid about it at some point). ROM kinda had the best of both words - mainly sci-fi/horror elements, but also a part of the Marvel Universe so superheros popped in a lot.
The Director's Cut of Spawn is sooo much more than simply having a couple extra minutes of footage dropped back in. they actually went back and re-edited the ENTIRE movie from scratch to put it together. So the whole thing plays out a lot better than the original theatrical cut. I recommend watching it, then listening to the commentary to get a deeper insight into the background of it. Superior version of the movie, and a very entertaining, informative and often quite funny commentary.
Nice collection man! I have the Frank Miller Batman book too! I received it as a gift from my aunt when I was a kid. I'm also a fan of The Prisoner, but I had no idea they had comic books. The only book I have is The Official Prisoner Companion which is pretty good. Most people don't know about that show, but it does help that the IFC was showing some episodes on TV just the other day. I had to watch!
Love your vids. I used to have the Complete Frank Miller Batman volume as well and if memory serves, I believe that Miller only drew the middle story (Wanted Santa Clause...) and was written by Denny O'Neil. I used to have a lot of the volumes that you have. We're close in age so our period of comic collecting overlapped a lot. I sold off most of my comics but I kept the original issues of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing.
Oops! Yeah, I think you're right about that middle story. I guess that's what happens when I try to do a full overview of everything, the occasional fact gets mixed up.
Well hey, if you're only going to keep one, Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing is a good one to pick! :) Amazing stuff.
Ahhhh, Akira, definitely one of the many series that DEFINES anime and manga. I should start getting those aswell.
And I saw a few of those Batman Chronicles issues in my local Coles, I always wanted to pick it up, but every time it was in stock, I had no money. =P
I love your Black Hole comic book, I'm going to have to search for that one. I've got the Alien photo novel, well it's a big book, which is very cool. Also have all 3 Star Wars in comic form, and in Empire, Yoda was purple, and looked nothing like the movie version.
I don't collect all comics like yourself, only movie related comic books. You do have a very cool selection.
Yeah, YouTube changed the player size again. Now it's a Cinemascope aspect ratio. Apparently it's something to do with the new 3D options they're introducing. I say the 16x9 player should be the standard, anything else should be an option.
Ah, I see. Good collection. One of these days is going to be devoted to Annetta's collection, right? Looks like she's got some interesting things. Should I ask if it's better than yours? : P I bet she doesn't have as much, though, right?
Hey. This isn't really relevant but since you're a youtube partner, does it take less time for you to upload youtube videos? Like, do you get any priority or does it take you several hours to upload videos just like non-partners?
Man. You are such a well rounded geek :) You have in depth knowledge of Cartoons, Manga, Sci-Fi, Movies, Comics, DVD editions, VHS, etc. and now Graphic Novels.
The Spawn movie was like guilty pleasure for me. I remembered sneaking downstairs into the basement where my brother kept all his comics and looking through them and finding Spawn and being so amazed at the art style. It just blew me away that something could look that nice, even then. He had all the first issues, so I read through those and while it was dark I really liked it, so when the movie came out I was excited and I thought it was really good for a comic book based movie at the time.
Nice! The Director's Cut is even better if you haven't seen it (which I assume you have by now). the commentary is totally worth listening to as well, they talk a lot about the changes they had to make for the theatrical version and how they got banned from Skywalker Ranch! I agree that it was actually a pretty decent comic book movie adaptation. The collected books I have cover roughly the first 25 or so issues. Great stuff, and yes Todd McFarlane is an amazing artist - sooo much detail!
Oh god, don't get me started... I actually uploaded the first MMC Retro video this morning, but YouTube's stupid encoder got hung up while processing it and just kept processing forever... So it's being re-uploaded as I type this. Hopefully will be up and viewable within an hour or two.
I know, I love pointing those out to all the people who insist that Batman doesn't kill people. One of my faves - when he just watches Doctor Death burn when his hideout goes up in flames and says, "Death to Doctor Death!" :D Old school Bats was HARDCORE!
See but this is where I tend to struggle a bit cuz old school Batman was awesome but if you ask me he is much more believeable & enjoyable when he doesn't kill. To me him killing makes him no better than those who killed his parents & created him. Batman is admireable as someone who brought good from a tramatic experience & utilizes self control.
True, but it also kinda makes sense that he would be harsher in his early days - still dealing with the pain of losing his parents and taking it out on the scum he's fighting, later coming to realize that it makes him no better than them.
I actually got Last Temptation and Psycho Circus around the same time, which is funny since they're both about kinda supernatural circus type-things...and both feature off-the wall rock superstar personalities.
If you are looking for a great modern series that you can get in trade, I would suggest Y: The Last Man. Sixty wonderful issues with great art and the best comic story in years. It's in 10 TPBs or they are also doing larger hardcovers, though I don't believe all of those are out yet.
I have a handful of reprints of old Amazing Spider-Man comics, but not a lot. I wasn't too big into collecting Spidey, though I do enjoy the comics. I'll show the ones I have at some point, but as I said - I don't have many.
I'm currently reading Punisher: MAX and I totally recommend it to you. If you love blood and guts and tons of pointless swearing, then that series is for you.
I'd like to check that out. I'm glad they finally got The Punisher back to being a proper gritty character and away from tha twhole "avenging angel" nonsense... I used to read the old 80's comics. The original 5-issue limited series with art by Mike Zeck was great.
Not only do I recommend Punisher MAX but if you want to know the REAL origin of Wolverine pick up Wolverine: Origin. And make sure its just ORIGIN and not originS. OriginS is a series while origin is a one shot TBP which was awesome. Easy way to tell is that on the back from what I remember has Logan's bone claws coming out with some blood.
Holy shit I had no idea that the Complete Frank Miller Batman even exsisted! I have nearly everything individually but those would be amazing as hell to have wow!
Normally I would, but it saved me some time to just have them both as epic one parters. In future I'll likely break them up into 15-20 minute parts, like I usually do.
This is just stupid. The only reason people split videos is because they can't upload more than 10 minutes on youtube. If Zaranyzerak is able to upload longer videos, why shouldn't he take advantage of that? If it's too long for you, hit the pause button and leave the tab open so you can watch the rest later.
Sorry, I was reading a complaint from someone in another of Zaranyzerak's videos that it was too long (the Doom review) and I assumed you were the same guy. My apologies.
If anything, he might have been influenced by ME, since he knows I've been planning to do comic book vids for a while now. He just got around to doing his first.
I've been reading some oldschool ec horror comics lately like haunt of fear and tales form the crypt. I normal just like underground hippie comics like zap.
Spot on my friend, i am also a Graphic Novel Collector, and you have alot that i have or want to have in my collection. Great update!! Liking the new schedule indeed, hope you go in depth on some of your individuals in coming reviews.
I'm very happy you love The Prisoner. I recently got into the Innovation comics Lost in Space series, say what you want about the tv series, the comics are quite good and some were written by Billy Mumy (Will Robinson).
FarCry 2 is AWESOME! I've already logged about 30 hours of playtime, and I'm only on Act 2. I've been taking my time to explore around a lot. Great story, great action, slick controls, and fantastic scenery!
I'm pretty stocked! I just found the first edition of Arkham Asylum for 12 bucks.

By the way, I just noticed the Director's Cut of 'Spawn', which I haven't seen at all, is only 2 minutes longer.
Apart from the short time time-difference, did they replace a lot more footage than that though?
As you mentioned the Director's Cut is a significant improvement.

I'm not sure what is or will be out on BD... looks like nothing as of yet...
But I hope they'll release both in one release or something, as they sometimes do now.
Should be a treat of special-effects to me though.
Apparently it was praised for the work done by ILM right?
I love ILM... I just love the spirit and style of their effects.

Haah, Kiss Psycho Circus.
You know, I'm a musician and can honestly not REALLY appreciate their music.
I mean... it's alright, it's just not my style, but their image is kind of cool.
Especially when you adapt it into an evil comic like that.
Which I didn't know existed, so I might have to check it out.
Did you know, though, that there was FPS-game of it?
I used to play it a bit about 10 years ago...

Very nice collection!
I really like the 'Batman'-ones as I'm more into those characters when it comes to comics.
When I was little, though, I was more into the series and films, and read more like TinTin and stuff for comics.
But later on I found there were also more serious comics for my favorite superheroes so I went like "Neatto..." and bought a couple eventually.
For example, one I have yet to read, called 'Spider-Man Dark Reign', apparently he gets totally dragged through hell, so... :P

Yeah, YouTube changed the player size again. Now it's a Cinemascope aspect ratio. Apparently it's something to do with the new 3D options they're introducing. I say the 16x9 player should be the standard, anything else should be an option.

Where's Watchmen laying around?
brokenwings0207 2 years ago
In Annetta's graphic novel collection.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago

You...You said Retro Day is Fridays!!!!
Nah, don't worry about it.
But you said Retro Day is Fridays!!!
G'day man.
bheemabachus 2 years ago
Oh god, don't get me started... I actually uploaded the first MMC Retro video this morning, but YouTube's stupid encoder got hung up while processing it and just kept processing forever... So it's being re-uploaded as I type this. Hopefully will be up and viewable within an hour or two.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
Okay, allright I gotchya. I'm gonna watch it now, it just appeared I think.

i love how batman kills mostly every villain in the batman chronicles
1ronoc 2 years ago
I know, I love pointing those out to all the people who insist that Batman doesn't kill people. One of my faves - when he just watches Doctor Death burn when his hideout goes up in flames and says, "Death to Doctor Death!" :D Old school Bats was HARDCORE!
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
my favorite is when he hangs one of the giants. and he says "I hate to take a life, but it was the only way." Old batman was too cool
1ronoc 2 years ago
Batman is the 10th doctor?
sagasky 2 years ago
Hehehe...yeah, contrary to popular belief, The Doctor has NEVER been a pacifist. Pretty much every Doctor has killed someone at some point.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
See but this is where I tend to struggle a bit cuz old school Batman was awesome but if you ask me he is much more believeable & enjoyable when he doesn't kill. To me him killing makes him no better than those who killed his parents & created him. Batman is admireable as someone who brought good from a tramatic experience & utilizes self control.
RazMansReality 2 years ago
True, but it also kinda makes sense that he would be harsher in his early days - still dealing with the pain of losing his parents and taking it out on the scum he's fighting, later coming to realize that it makes him no better than them.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
True I hadn't really thought about it that way.
RazMansReality 2 years ago
btw... IDW has nothing to do with DC. IDW = Idea + Design Works it's independently owned.
Oooh... The Last Temptation of Alice Cooper... I thought my sister was the only one who had that! Same w/ the KISS book! :)
Believe it or not that newsprint paper is pricier than the glossy stuff... thanks to the high demand (think: Newspapers).
You should check out UMBRELLA ACADEMY it's like the X-MEN if it were done by Wes "Rushmore" Anderson.
PlanetBierwagen 2 years ago
I actually got Last Temptation and Psycho Circus around the same time, which is funny since they're both about kinda supernatural circus type-things...and both feature off-the wall rock superstar personalities.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
If you are looking for a great modern series that you can get in trade, I would suggest Y: The Last Man. Sixty wonderful issues with great art and the best comic story in years. It's in 10 TPBs or they are also doing larger hardcovers, though I don't believe all of those are out yet.
YoSoyJu 2 years ago
Ah yes, Annetta's actually been collecting the hardcover editions of those. She LOVES it, so I'll be sure to check it out at some point.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
MISTER ZARANYZERAK, do you have the paperbacks of the original [Marvel Amazing Spider-Man comics]?
dvd6441 2 years ago
I have a handful of reprints of old Amazing Spider-Man comics, but not a lot. I wasn't too big into collecting Spidey, though I do enjoy the comics. I'll show the ones I have at some point, but as I said - I don't have many.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
I'm currently reading Punisher: MAX and I totally recommend it to you. If you love blood and guts and tons of pointless swearing, then that series is for you.
AmericanNohbuddy 2 years ago
I'd like to check that out. I'm glad they finally got The Punisher back to being a proper gritty character and away from tha twhole "avenging angel" nonsense... I used to read the old 80's comics. The original 5-issue limited series with art by Mike Zeck was great.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
Not only do I recommend Punisher MAX but if you want to know the REAL origin of Wolverine pick up Wolverine: Origin. And make sure its just ORIGIN and not originS. OriginS is a series while origin is a one shot TBP which was awesome. Easy way to tell is that on the back from what I remember has Logan's bone claws coming out with some blood.
AmericanNohbuddy 2 years ago
Holy shit I had no idea that the Complete Frank Miller Batman even exsisted! I have nearly everything individually but those would be amazing as hell to have wow!
RazMansReality 2 years ago
Hehehe...yeah, it's a pretty slick edition! I didn't even know it existed either until it showed up in my Christmas gifts one year. :D
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
HEHE then you are one lucky bastard my friend, a lucky one indeed!
RazMansReality 2 years ago
Week of epic processing time to apparently..lol
sagasky 2 years ago
Man, you have no idea - it's been epic processing on MY end as well!
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
Would it be better just to split the vids?
sagasky 2 years ago
Normally I would, but it saved me some time to just have them both as epic one parters. In future I'll likely break them up into 15-20 minute parts, like I usually do.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
This is just stupid. The only reason people split videos is because they can't upload more than 10 minutes on youtube. If Zaranyzerak is able to upload longer videos, why shouldn't he take advantage of that? If it's too long for you, hit the pause button and leave the tab open so you can watch the rest later.
KyNailGunMassacre 2 years ago
Perhaps you should re-read what was said, it has nothing to do with WATCHING the video, its youtube taking a long time to PROCESS it.
sagasky 2 years ago
Sorry, I was reading a complaint from someone in another of Zaranyzerak's videos that it was too long (the Doom review) and I assumed you were the same guy. My apologies.
KyNailGunMassacre 2 years ago
Im guessing this was kinda influenced from Civilian snowman?
TheRandomDude11 2 years ago
No, I had this planned quite some time ago. Purely a coincidence that he's been doing his as well.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
If anything, he might have been influenced by ME, since he knows I've been planning to do comic book vids for a while now. He just got around to doing his first.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
I've been reading some oldschool ec horror comics lately like haunt of fear and tales form the crypt. I normal just like underground hippie comics like zap.
DirtyRottenInsult 2 years ago
Nice, I love the old horror anthology comics like those. Some of them could be downright disturbing...
