Hi RRacheli enjoyed your post Martin denny is excellent have his album Another Taste of Honey do you have any Arthur Lyman I really enjoy him also. thanks again for the excellent posts I appreciate it.
I remeber Martin best for his Quiet Villaige cause that's all I remember hearing from this artist. It certainly wasn't your typical r&r standard hey Sheila. Besides they wouldn't of played it at the High School sock hop hey Sherry. It was the most unusual instrument & didn't stack up with the likes of Telstar by the Tornado....now that was quite the instumental back when hey Sandy. This was worth a listen but I still favor the Quiet Villiage to this day.
I have a version of this song on a Time-Life CD compilation of exotica. That version is slightly faster and has a harmonica and whistler sharing the melody.
@sucijo - That must have been a re-release because on the original issue from Liberty Records the flip of "Quite Village" was a song called "Llama Serenade". My mother and aunts had that song in their collection of 45s which I now have.
An obscure and unique song that is hard to find. The ocean and fish photos go great with the music. Very peaceful and enjoyable. Thank you for posting this.
Mazeltov ! ! ! This is beautiful and your write-up spoke to my soul! !!! Thanks for the beautiful description of MD's music. I am thinking musiclovers should upload videos of ourselves describing how this beautiful music speaks to us and in sharing our thoughts, appreciate the music even more.
Yes,Racheli, nice job. Some beautiful exotic photography, a fitting "music video"
for Martin Denny's music.Once in a while there occurs a musician with such extraordinary talent & vision, their music is timeless. Ella Fitzgerald,Nat King Cole,Tony Bennett, to name a few, even though a good portion of their groundbreaking work was done 40-50 years ago,its rediscovered by each new generation. This particular piece is at least 50 years old,yet it still sounds "fresh" and it still speaks to me...,
I love the "old music & songs" because for my ears they are not sound as OLD (at all) - for me that kind of music or songs never lose quality - A music that companion me since I remember myself
it would be better with a bunch of cute kitties
