@wolfxinstein like he said you want ball that does not stress your arm anything that feels comfortable but not to light and finger holes that are comfortable to the bowling allie i go to all the 9 10 and 11 balls there finger holes are like for babies
@huntercalgary Hi Smegma, how is the dog blower doing today? Youtube is loaded with comments about you being a dog blower. You haven't found a small fraction yet. Keep looking so we can hear from you. Then I can have our team respond as usual. I don't waste my time talking to someone I don't know. Instead I have a service do it. What a cum stain loser you are.
lol you dont want to take your weight in matters but your muscle mass. in other words pick up a ball and throw it but dont let go. if it flies out of your hand its to heavy
okay, I'm going to try bowling with a 14lb (that's 10%) ball tomorrow night. That seems heavy, but as he says, the idea is to roll the ball, not throw it. Oh and thanks to everyone who is criticizing him, hope that makes you and I bowl better.
Bowled with the 14lb ball. It took a game to get used to it but after that, my score went up. I normally bowl around 120 - but with the heavier ball I bowled 150 and 154.
I also watched his video on how to bowl, which helped.
I'd say 5% not 10% of your body weight! Guys usually weigh about 160-200 lbs, thats 16 right there. not all guys use 16 lbs, and 16lbs is usually way to big for my fingers. I weigh 260 and I use a 10-12 lb ball!
@SadegoGG Umm yeah... if you feel comfortable with it, you can hold the ball firmly. However benching doesn't mean a single thing when your bowling a ball. I have a feeling your just showing off to everyone that you can bench 800 POUNDS :O OMG! *cough cough* If the ball feels to light than don't use it! Usually you use a ball that fits your fingers pretty nicely and doesnt weigh to heavy. but obviously your one of those off set people...
Whats wrong with being 220 pounds? And no, i'm not on steroids. I've merely studies weight lifting and it just so happens most people do it incorrectly. I don't even work out a lot either, only like 3-4 days a week. I study politics and economics, i'm not some type of gym rat that you are picturing.
@SadegoGG I weigh 240 and can bench over 300 lbs. but wait that's not the impressive part. I know my math and 10% of your weight is 22lbs not 11 lbs... pretty impressive huh? you're welcome.
hey guys i got a new ball and its 13 pounds and its like kinda hevey so it messes me up does anybody know a way to get use to holding it so it seems lighter or what i should do to make it feel lighter and i can control it
if you want your high game to have more than 2 digits do not do this.
This guy should be fired from the "expert village" too, fingers do not bend where he is saying the hole should be. you only want your first knuckle in the finger holes.
@IamDarkStar2012 then as you draw the ball back keep your hand underneath the ball bring it to the explosion point take your thumb out of the socket and rip your hands up the side putting a curve on it and make sure your throwing it from the right so it spins into the pocket! :D
I find that sometimes even though the person may weigh 100 pounds a 10 pound ball is still a little too heavy. I agree with the last person I do prefer to play with my own balls but when I do play with strange balls I find it better to find a slightly lighter ball because I have more fun.
i mean weight is good but just because you weight more doesn't mean you should have like a 16 pound ball. when i was growing up i went by weight. when i started i was eight and i think i either used a 9 pound or a 10 pound. now i am 15 and use a 14 but i could probably go 15. so i recomend more on age than weight but that is just me
um with the wrist there are wrist straps that you can wear to make sure your wrist stays in place without a lot of movement um with fingers it doesn't matter a whole lot if you do have weaker wrists and fingers i would start with a lighter ball weight and use the wrist strap until you are confortable with them movement then try to do it without the strap or you can continue to use the strap if you have anymore questions let me know
the best thing you can do is take the bowling ball just put your trow arm in front of you en on shoulder hight try to hold the ball 15 seconds if you can't the ball is to heavy for you.
all u morons saying what weight u throw or should throw according to the vid or how much u weigh.... piss off... he clearly says balls r from 6-16 lbs.... ur all fuckin stupid... he's clearly speaking to novice bowlers or if u will the open bowler.... if ur experienced then chances r u throw a heavier ball... ir ur unexperienced then u should start small and work ur way up... goddam i hate stupid fuckin morons...
Sometimes it's better to use a drastically light ball. I'm 170 lbs. and I use an 8 pounder. I just throw it down the alley like a bolt of lightning, and it very rarely has a chance to go off course. Too bad all the 8 pounders are like, atomic pink and magenta.
I am 140 lbs too, however I don't follow their exact weight recommendation of the ball. I have only bowled a few times in my life. I went from 7 pound ball to a 12 pound ball. Maybe, I could bowl a 14 pound or 16 in the future.
Another important factor is the size of your hands. If you have smaller hands, it is better off to pick a lighter weight. My hands are like an average 12 or 13 year old. In all, your bowling experience is the most important factor.
ok just by the weight of the ball doesnt determine how hard its going to hit, if your throwing a 15 and you can barely lift it and you throw it down the lane its going to go slowly causing the ball to hit light, it all matters is what ball you use and how much force you put into your throw
Wrong. Bowling is about rolling the ball, not throwing it. So unless you're rolling a 15 lb ball at 5 mph and rolling a 12 lb ball at 30 mph, the speed will make little difference. You need to be able to adjust the speed of your ball to compensate for oil conditions.
About 13-16 pounds balls are gonna be hitting pretty much the same in the back end, so dont stress out people lol...Im 18, weigh between the high 150's to the low 160's and throw a 15 pounder.
i got ripped...the dude that sold me my first custom bowling gave me a spare ball this thing does not curve any brands i should look for that do curve??
He didnt mention the problem about thumb sticking inside the hole once it swells up. He didnt explain the use of baby powder or chapstick to make the thumb slide out easier. Chapstick is more useful for making the thumb slip out of the ball easier than baby powder though.
I wonder if the lane in this video carries French extenders in the men's room, like my favourite lane back home. I can't think of a better reward for bowling a perfect 97 point game.
do you work in a pro shop if you do you are supid. the right ball is when your knuckle is in the middle of the hole and a lot of people use a ball that is finger tipped.
I'm 14 years old, weigh about 120 pounds and throw a 14 strike ball, and a 13 pound spare ball(just so I can go hard and straight). Age works pretty well for younger bowlers too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wow forgivenr you suck at bowling im 11 and play with a 13 pound spin ball and a 14 pound spare ball with an average of 245 highest game 300 game got one time 900 series
Hey man just letting you know that it has been done. But i think it has only been done a few times in a sanctioned league. 9 is the official number I believe. Not trying to bust your balls you wanted to let you know.
I wonder why little fag kids need to lie about something like this, espically bowling. And if you got a 900 series, you would be alot more famous than a little prick on youtube trying to find a gullable little child to believe this crap.
I always chuck the ball half way down the alley! It works for me, because you get a lot of power, spin and accuracy. That said, it is embarracing hearing the thud, and I'm not even sure if it's allowed.
its not soo much that its not allowed, its just more of an annoyance to other bowlers around you, yes it will happen from time to time, but constantly? i reccommend changing techniques, plus it is easier to hurt yourself by "chucking" the ball
im 15 turning 16 in january...i have 4 balls i use...all 15 pounds..i would never go up to 16 pounds even when im older...better reaction with a lighter ball...o ya and i weight about 170 pounds...but his 10% thing makes no sence
Maybe that makes no sence for an advenced player, but it can be a great tip for a complete beginner who has absolutely no idea how heavy a ball should be !
This cant be right, cause I weigh 130 and use a 8 :\. Highest I've gotten is 99 but I just started bowling like a week ago. I tried with a ten but kept getting gutterballs.
The 10 is just too much for me. Did he research this stuff?
I was hoping for types of hook balls, this is beginner stuff. I was hoping for pro tips. Weight isn't a huge deal and it's always a pain looking for a ball that fits my hand. You don't have to worry if you buy your own ball.
i'm 12 years old, 13 in november and throw a 15 pound strike ball, and a 16 pound spare ball, fairly well, with a 169 average and a 244 high game HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Lol, I weigh 275 and I was just bowling with a 10lb ball yesterday, I was actually doing pretty well, i bowled a 172:) Highest I have ever bowled (in my 10 times ever bowling)
I can barely hold a 8lbs bowl. if its suppose to be 10% of my body wait I should be holding a 12lbs bowl not going to happen.

ok just by the weight of the ball doesnt determine how hard its going to hit, if your throwing a 15 and you can barely lift it and you throw it down the lane its going to go slowly causing the ball to hit light, it all matters is what ball you use and how much force you put into your throw
seahawkgirl9137 2 years ago
Wrong. Bowling is about rolling the ball, not throwing it. So unless you're rolling a 15 lb ball at 5 mph and rolling a 12 lb ball at 30 mph, the speed will make little difference. You need to be able to adjust the speed of your ball to compensate for oil conditions.

do you work in a pro shop if you do you are supid. the right ball is when your knuckle is in the middle of the hole and a lot of people use a ball that is finger tipped.
killapawner 4 years ago
get a real bowling ball not a house ball
bowlerboi26 4 years ago
What a dumb comment. He's explaining how to pick a house ball, so why would he not be showing a house ball? Idiot.

dirtydeeds92 4 years ago

i am 180 and throw about 15-16mph my rev is little over 300rpms and with a 16 pound ball
mrcoolone5 4 years ago
whats rev?
jollyranchero 4 years ago
Revolutions
generally the more revs you put on a bowling ball, the more likely it would hook, unless it is a polyester or house ball.
gordonthiessen 4 years ago
polyester....isn't that a fabric?
tumbleweed414 3 years ago
Polyester is a form of plastic, along with anything basically that statrs with "poly".

I'm 14 years old, weigh about 120 pounds and throw a 14 strike ball, and a 13 pound spare ball(just so I can go hard and straight). Age works pretty well for younger bowlers too.

Impossible, thats never been done.
Mattkow1 4 years ago
Hey man just letting you know that it has been done. But i think it has only been done a few times in a sanctioned league. 9 is the official number I believe. Not trying to bust your balls you wanted to let you know.
lastbornjester 4 years ago
I wonder why little fag kids need to lie about something like this, espically bowling. And if you got a 900 series, you would be alot more famous than a little prick on youtube trying to find a gullable little child to believe this crap.
trustmeeyeknow 4 years ago
I always chuck the ball half way down the alley! It works for me, because you get a lot of power, spin and accuracy. That said, it is embarracing hearing the thud, and I'm not even sure if it's allowed.
Can anyone tell me if it is?
Uxoriouswidow 4 years ago
its not soo much that its not allowed, its just more of an annoyance to other bowlers around you, yes it will happen from time to time, but constantly? i reccommend changing techniques, plus it is easier to hurt yourself by "chucking" the ball
ltjfan6 4 years ago 2
It's all right, I have changed technique. I've found one that works much better for me.

15 years old 150 pounds 14.

I weigh 140 and I use a 15 when i'm bowling righty and a 13 when lefty.. this guy makes no sense at all.
coldsoul69 4 years ago
im 15 turning 16 in january...i have 4 balls i use...all 15 pounds..i would never go up to 16 pounds even when im older...better reaction with a lighter ball...o ya and i weight about 170 pounds...but his 10% thing makes no sence
yamahaman6 4 years ago
Maybe that makes no sence for an advenced player, but it can be a great tip for a complete beginner who has absolutely no idea how heavy a ball should be !
grosXconXquiXpue 4 years ago
Real bowling doesn't have holes in it and is the size of a pumpkin
NHChamp88 4 years ago
This cant be right, cause I weigh 130 and use a 8 :\. Highest I've gotten is 99 but I just started bowling like a week ago. I tried with a ten but kept getting gutterballs.
The 10 is just too much for me. Did he research this stuff?
utubemadness 4 years ago
i dunno howmuch i weigh in lbs, but im 75 kg and i throw all 15 pounders
high game = 300
highseries= 804 ( over 3 that is :))

im 101 pounds and use a 14
frb4 4 years ago
I was hoping for types of hook balls, this is beginner stuff. I was hoping for pro tips. Weight isn't a huge deal and it's always a pain looking for a ball that fits my hand. You don't have to worry if you buy your own ball.

HAHAHA I'm 13 years old, I weigh 118 and throw a 15 pounder perfectly with a 170 average and a 246 high game HAHAHAHA!!!!
