Tried on my rig and it's pretty awesome! Very nice demo :) Running really smooth on PMMX 166MHZ, 16MB RAM and of course 3DFX Voodoo 1 4MB :) Does anybody know other demos like this working on 3DFX Voodoo 1?
Just downloaded and watched with my Voodoo 1... Great litttle demo, I can record directly from the hardware (And have uploaded several demos recorded this way) would you mind if I did this with yours? If you want I could send you a recording and you could upload it instead, this demo deserves better than recording off the screen with a camera.
@HighTreason610 Wow you have a Voodoo1 setup! That's awesome! This is actually a Voodoo 2 demo, even though it doesn't use any non-Voodoo 1 features such as multi-texturing (dual textures), but it might run slower on the Voodoo 1 too. Did it skip frames? Please do record it and send it to me, and I'll upload it, or you can too! Awesome, thanks so much! Hit me up at my email off xona games contact page (google "xona games").
Oh, forgot to praise this... It's quite cool. Particularly the 3D parameterization. Neat. Ever seen ASD's stuff? Wow. I used to have disks full of my fave .mods back in the Amiga days. Still have them in fact... 2 Amigas still in the closet!
Oh yeah, when I said your 2 year old version of this sounds the same.. I meant I get BOTH normal and HQ there, but the audio sounds mono in both versions unlike here where the HQ is stereo.
You are in for a treat then - ASD (Andromeda Software Development) is current. You'll like their music too. There's some poor quality caps on YouTube. Don't bother. Get it straight from the source:

Lifeforce and Iconoclast are my faves.
Maybe I should try capping one in HD res! :)
I forgot to try the library to see what slower connections do as default.
just downloaded and watched both. amazing. iconoclast i actually say before! i remember the respects to second reality it pays with the polygon ball bouncing on the checkerboard pattern, as well as a hint of second reality's music!
Yes, they are a good demo group. There's a lot of good demos out there, but a lot of boring crap too. It's tedious wading thru a demo site to find the jewels.
Also in Iconoclast, there is a tribute to another demo...not sure of the original, with the bee or whatever where it says how many faces. Only in Iconoclast it's being refracted thru glass, as well as all that other stuff happening simultaneously.
Also, that geared thing is the oldest computing device known: the Antikythera thought to have Greek origins made about 200BC. It calculates astronomical positions.
Even when I'm logged out I get the HQ by default... I think it has something to do with your connection speed. I'll go to the library (slower connection) and try it for kicks later today.
Also, you say you saw it yourself when you use &fmt=18. That proves that the HQ version is there. Why it doesn't give you the link is what the question is.
"when i upload my "music only" videos, 2.1mbps is not high enough quality toget youtube to put in the "watch in high quality" option. but the next highest setting in windows movie maker, some dvd format, 30mpbs but youtube gives "watch in high quality"
But that can't be the full story because I ALWAYS get the High Quality option for all your music only vids. All your vids in fact (that I've tried). The music is noticably better here with HQ, but the same with the 2 year old version.

hey... forgot to answer this! i have not heard of ASD, were they a demo group in the amiga scene? i mostly followed the pc demo scene.
something new i learned is that &fmt=18 bring stereo to this old demo, not just high quality. is there no way to offer this to non-geeky users?

I've listened to Elwood's awesome work for years, but it seems so much more appropriate to view a demo that USES his music!

i always thought i was the biggest elwood fan, and couldn't believe i was the only one to use his music in a demo... very honored to be the one.
