Lol I love how everyone gets in pissing contests about their favorite FF games. Honestly, I've played several (but not all) and each and every one of them I liked. They each have their own traits that make them unique, and fun, for whatever group they're geared towards. And I don't wanna hear anything about "how the old ones were better" or "how the new ones are better." Each and every single game has some amazing qualities and some...not so amazing ones. Just pick your favorite and play it.

Heck, when I was young, I came up with four full Final Fantasy spinoff games (I worked on RPG Maker), and looking back at the stories I came up with, it can't even be compared to FFXIII's boring, uninspired excuse for FF fans. I say the last FF was FFX.

I think this one's great! Nice contemporary style and composition...if HBO made a gritty drama about FFVII they'd definitely use this as the theme tune!

@Pearlcussion The exact same rumor went around when the PS3 was announced (fueled by the tech demo showing FF7's next gen intro). Then again when PSP was released and a CGI from Crisis Core was leaked. These rumors happen every time Sony announces a new system.
@Pearlcussion I can tell you right now that it's fake. I explained that the format used is not what companies really send out. Look at real ones on Gamasutra. Also, check the encoding of the JPEG with an EXIF viewer. It's been re-encoded with both Baseline DCT and Huffman coding. That means it's been edited more than once. It's a fake.

FF9 was terrible. They tried to go back to their "roots" by bringing back the crystal. If you want a good old school Final Fantasy, just go play IV or VI. Cecil and Terra FTW.

@Schwaby69 The concept of destroying the crystals is not introduced until the end of Disc 3. To say the entire game is about them is false. While the base of the main conflict resolves around them, the game itself does not. It's comparative to "meteor" from FF7 or "time compression" from FF8. While you could say it is the climax of the story, it is not the base of the entire game.

@SpikyAd Theyre one of the best RPG's ever but there are definitly better games from other genres. What I like mostly about Final fantasy is the music and it's ability to give a certain mood. Dragon Warrior III is also a really good RPG with good music too.

Well, apparently the guys at SE posted a post on Twitter about "How would YOU feel about a remake to Final Fantasy VII?" there was a lot of commotion, Tetsuya Nomura even said that he'd take part in it as character designer as always, SE has been making a lot of fuss about a Remake since December 2009 till Now... with E3 convention coming this June, there's no doubt that they'll announce, "WE HAVE STARTED WORKING ON YOUR FAVE GAME. Ladies and Gentlemen, we bring you RE: FINAL FANTASY VII"
If Square is dedicated to the fans out there they will make it a priority. They know many love the game & like the compilation of FFVII games. Wait until Versus XIII or XIV is almost finished im sure Square will mention what their plans are.
So until then when there is a huge e3 announcement there is no remake, unless they decide to not announce it until later on.
Chances are they could be doing it behind closed doors so they can remake it in its entire form without cutting anything out. Making an announcement like that will most likely be a 5 year project. Most of us want to see it remake & i believe Square is in the process of getting a FFVII remake project. Those are my thoughts, doesn't mean it will happen.
Although the rumors that Square WILL remake VII it has not yet been confirmed. They want to do it, many people want to see it done. However its not one of thier projects they're currently working on i know they're working on FFXIII Versus, Agito & XIV. A few others that are not FF related. I've seen the 'green lit' blog. But there is no official announcement that they will actually do it.

@Pearlcussion The exact same rumor went around when the PS3 was announced (fueled by the tech demo showing FF7's next gen intro). Then again when PSP was released and a CGI from Crisis Core was leaked. These rumors happen every time Sony announces a new system.

@Pearlcussion I can tell you right now that it's fake. I explained that the format used is not what companies really send out. Look at real ones on Gamasutra. Also, check the encoding of the JPEG with an EXIF viewer. It's been re-encoded with both Baseline DCT and Huffman coding. That means it's been edited more than once. It's a fake.

And I used "bringing back the crystal" as a reference to try to go back to their old school roots, not in the literal sense on why I didn't like the game. I just felt that 8 and 7 were much better.

@Schwaby69 The concept of destroying the crystals is not introduced until the end of Disc 3. To say the entire game is about them is false. While the base of the main conflict resolves around them, the game itself does not. It's comparative to "meteor" from FF7 or "time compression" from FF8. While you could say it is the climax of the story, it is not the base of the entire game.

@SpikyAd Theyre one of the best RPG's ever but there are definitly better games from other genres. What I like mostly about Final fantasy is the music and it's ability to give a certain mood. Dragon Warrior III is also a really good RPG with good music too.

Well, apparently the guys at SE posted a post on Twitter about "How would YOU feel about a remake to Final Fantasy VII?" there was a lot of commotion, Tetsuya Nomura even said that he'd take part in it as character designer as always, SE has been making a lot of fuss about a Remake since December 2009 till Now... with E3 convention coming this June, there's no doubt that they'll announce, "WE HAVE STARTED WORKING ON YOUR FAVE GAME. Ladies and Gentlemen, we bring you RE: FINAL FANTASY VII"

If Square is dedicated to the fans out there they will make it a priority. They know many love the game & like the compilation of FFVII games. Wait until Versus XIII or XIV is almost finished im sure Square will mention what their plans are.

So until then when there is a huge e3 announcement there is no remake, unless they decide to not announce it until later on.
Chances are they could be doing it behind closed doors so they can remake it in its entire form without cutting anything out. Making an announcement like that will most likely be a 5 year project. Most of us want to see it remake & i believe Square is in the process of getting a FFVII remake project. Those are my thoughts, doesn't mean it will happen.

Although the rumors that Square WILL remake VII it has not yet been confirmed. They want to do it, many people want to see it done. However its not one of thier projects they're currently working on i know they're working on FFXIII Versus, Agito & XIV. A few others that are not FF related. I've seen the 'green lit' blog. But there is no official announcement that they will actually do it.
