@super7o metallica is deeply over-rated, and their legacy will not compare to maiden's. i would say the solo difficulty depends on the material of each band, because both contributed amazing solos to the world of rock/metal. i find hammet's mindless wanking too dissonant sometimes tho and he is guilty of recycling riffs just as much as maiden :) difference is maiden never sold out -- twice.
