  • my mom likes to makes this for chinese new year too..she already made a bunch of the brown sugar syrup earlier :)

    oh, and when my mom makes this, she usually adds sesame seeds along with the jujubes..

  • very nice, can you tell me how to measure the flour in grams because I usually just use measuring cups. Can you also tell me do I have to steam the cakes in high heat all the time and how to make the cakes look so smooth top looking. thanks

  • Thanks so much, wantamien, for this recipes and others! Though I understand Cantonese somewhat, I can't read it, and for years have been looking for authentic Chinese recipes. I came across this video for lin gou, and decided to try it out as CNY is approaching. It turned out beautifully! My husband, who is British, thought it was great, too, and wants more! Thanks for all your hard work in uploading and providing English written recipes. It's much appreciated!

  • @dorz8888 You can use milk for the coconut flavoured cake, I don't know about the regular one but if you like you can try. Please tell us how it came out.

  • hello wantanmien! i'm from australia & luv your videos! I came from Macau when i was little & would luv 2 make traditional chinese desserts and food now i moved out of home. I can't find much reciepes for traditional chinese (hk and macau) food. I can read and understand cantonese. Any suggestions?

    please keep your videos going! would you consideer making steamed sponge cake? It's my fave .:)

  • Is the jujube supposed to be dried? If I remember correctly the middle of the lin gou is a dried red date?

  • Yes it is a dried red date also called jujube, I washed it twice to make sure it is clean.
