Ive lived in Puerto Rico since I was 7, and sure the food is good, but the animal abuse makes this the worst place for animal lovers. With over half a million stray dogs on the streets and shelters almost non existent, here if your dog gets mange or some disease, its just dumped on the street. Were also the only "maintained" country in the world. Most people relying on food stamps and farms for growing food scarce, its estimated that without the USA's help sending food, we'd starve in 2 month's.
Eating pig is unclean; thus Gentiles eat them. Eating pig blood sausages is one of the most dreadful things that a person can do. It is against the Law and the Prophets.

Puerto Rico is not the United States, and I'm damn proud of that fact. With all the racism I have encountered in the states, some even in these very comment boxes, I have to say I have become prouder to be Puerto Rican. There is a huge problem here, we are loosing our culture because of an oversaturation of American influence. @sterdoc, if you are going to be spending a month in Puerto Rico this summer, make sure and get out of Old San Juan / Isla Verde...cause tourists usually just stay around there, but that's really not representative of what Puerto Rican life is like. Take a trip to Loiza, Luquillo, Maunabo, Arroyo, Rio Grande, Fajardo, Canovanas...also check out the island-towns of Culebra and Vieques...you got a whole month, make the best of it...any help you need, let me know...I'll tell you where the locals go

I just moved to DC like a year ago and when i see this and all the nice comments people leave makes me so proud to see that even though things are fucked in the island economically and politically the poeple try to smile even more and im so happy to share that since living here DC, Puerto Rico has almost no racism, we understand what it is to be mixed and we really love everyone no matter what color, believe me i have had my fill of racist comments make about Borikuas.

Puerto Rico is not the United States, and I'm damn proud of that fact. With all the racism I have encountered in the states, some even in these very comment boxes, I have to say I have become prouder to be Puerto Rican. There is a huge problem here, we are loosing our culture because of an oversaturation of American influence. If you are Americans looking to visit I suggest you seek out the local culture and spread the word. What we need here is an ego boost.

@sterdoc, if you are going to be spending a month in Puerto Rico this summer, make sure and get out of Old San Juan / Isla Verde...cause tourists usually just stay around there, but that's really not representative of what Puerto Rican life is like. Take a trip to Loiza, Luquillo, Maunabo, Arroyo, Rio Grande, Fajardo, Canovanas...also check out the island-towns of Culebra and Vieques...you got a whole month, make the best of it...any help you need, let me know...I'll tell you where the locals go

Spain ruled Puerto Rico for so long, and then we just took it away from Spain.

@ttiiyy Wait a second. "Cowards"? The only reason we don't want to be independent is because things would be chaotic. We're better off as U.S. territory. Why don't YOU get a brain and realize that generalizing a whole group of people just because the majority doesn't share your exact political views makes you look ignorant and pompous? If I gave you the impression of being racist, I apologize.
However, I have worked with Puerto Ricans that struggle with English. You guys are not that bilingual (maybe except for the educated ones).
I was emotional because I hate the attitude of some PR that people in the US are obligated to provide them the Spanish translation.
That is just messed up. But then am I implying all PR people are like that? NO.
