  • The primary criticism of direct impingement is that fouling and debris from expended gunpowder is blown directly into the breech. As the superheated combustion gas travels down the tube, it expands and cools. This cooling causes vaporized matter to condense as it cools depositing a much greater volume of solids into the operating components of the action. The increased fouling can cause malfunctions if the rifle is not cleaned as frequently as should be.

  • I am not a Tex hater. I enjoy watching the tex vids. Tex, i do agree with the last comment mostly... my choice? The ak. In high stress situations, you will be scared. When my motor skills go out the window, that round will not go where you want it to be. I like the ak because it "blows peoples arms off". I personally have a variant of each, and while my ar is a blast, i will take the ak went my loved ones well being relies on the team work of me and that rifle.

  • The bolt hold open explanation of "doesn't let you be lazy" is probably one of the weakest explanations I've ever heard. The AR-15's reload is simply more streamlined. I don't even own an AR, I just hate hearing an explanation like that. You didn't even point out the AK's rounds having more stopping power. I've seen more AK pros pointed out on an AR fan's AR/AK comparison than this.

  • The ak will run with less maintenance than the ar, but the ar is more accurate and imo higher speed lower drag, more modular an faster to shoot.

  • I own A varient of each( AK is Self Built Milled underfolder ,Ar is Dpms M4 config with all the fireworks.) both work everytime.Clearly the AR is the more accurate bench weapon, however When Pratcical Accuarcy is the goal ,(which is what must be looked at for a Combat weapon) in a SHTF situation for me, Hands Down the Ak. The Ar platfrom is a great police weapon. But for the real deal. give me the AK.. and yes i have years of trigger time behind both. just My opinion.

  • high speed low drag hahah the ergonomics are shit...........make this video when u own a ar15

  • LoL

  • peasent style lol and to the ppl that say an ar is simple yes ur right it is but the ar is a more complicated then the ak try explaining to an uneducated person that barely speaks english that the button on the side closes the bolt. instead of arguing about which is better dont you thing that becoming proficient with both would be better alternative? if ur life is in danger and all u have is some dead mans ar u damn well better know how to use it effectively.

  • The ar15 is simple stupid too. I suggest you buy one and try it out. I used to be an ak fanboy, then I handled an ar. You can also forcably removed ar mags too. Seriously go handle and shoot an ar. Become profcient with it even if you don't like it.

Also, my ar 15 will run forever without cleaning if some lube is present.

  • I like the AR 15 hands down. The AK I think is more of a rifle that is a cheap murder weapon. You kill somebody and then throw it in the lake. I think the AR is more effective and is a way better gun than the AK. For EVERYTHING

  • If the AK is good enough for a coked out 8 year old in the congo good enough for me

  • Hey, Tex. What do you think about the Galil? IMI designed it to be the best of both worlds between the Kalashnikov and Stoner rifle styles. Tight tolerances and accuracy akin to the M16, reliability and simplicity akin to the AK. It needs occasional cleaning, it's heavy for a 5.56x45mm rifle, and dents cases without an ejection port buffer accessory, but a lot of countries field the Galil and its variants as their standard infantry rifle. Any thoughts?

  • what a fucking toolbag

  • people say that the ak has a smaller sight radius... not really. with a stock ak and a stock ar-15 with a 7 inch handgaurd the ar sight radius is only an inch or two longer. Though the ar has better sights.

  • i tink u can just go to iraqu and see ho is wining ummmm us and thats the way it has been for ever if a gun is winnig wars i think its good dont u

  • i agree with this man. i had an ak47, traded it for an ar. i HATED it. it was just not for me. it was a bushmaster which is quite high quality on an AR, and sold it for an ak74. havnt regretted it since.

  • That AKs different (front), any particular name?

Would be cool to have a pic :)

  • @SubzeroedMind oh shit, it's the Picantiny actually :o

  • Great video...That being said. I trained with the M16 and M4. Bought an AK a while back and shot it. I have combat experience with the M16 and never had an issue with it, very accurate. No combat experience with the AK. My thoughts is the AK is very simplistic . The iron sights suck and not very accurate, even with a red dot. The 5.56 platform is changing and updating. No longer do you have to pull the charging handle or worry about reliability..ACR..SCAR ect.. This debate will go on forever.

  • Underfolder and the AK is way more simple. it is like comparing a manual transmission vs an automatic. the ar-15 is a high standard automatic, but the manual transmission is always going to be more reliable. The standard AK is great, but be aware of furniture. it seems like some companies are out to get money rather than make a quality part.

  • @abraynor84

how often does your transmission go out?

  • hey tex. i love ak-47 style of rifles. It didn't start out that way. I joined the Marine Corps at 18 and the rifle they trained everyone with is the M-16. I have also took my M-16 to combat and my rifle had no malfunctions, but that is because I cleaned the weapon. the button on the m-16 is no different than a handgun mag release and i always used the bolt release on the M-16. that is why they teach you the tap, rack, bang. with that said, when I got out the Marine Corps, I bought an AK...

  • ive owned both and go rid of both. ima try a mini next. if i didnt have an sks already i would have keep the ak. the ar i was not to impressed with. between the 2 i say ak.

  • In my opinion i have trained with both, i believe its not the rifle your training its yourself. Give me a gun and ill do the best i can with it, no rifle whatsoever is "superior" to another. YOU are the weapon, not the gun. If i wanted a true battle rifle, i wouldnt touch ak or ar, i would personally go with .308.

  • in my opinion the real comparison is the AK's sheer simplicity, reliability, and stopping power are its advantages, but its heavy and so is the ammo. AR's are lightweight, accurate, and lightweight, but they are troublesome and need to be cleaned more often than the AK. I think it comes to personal opinion and situation for which rifle is better. i really like the feel of an AK and the power but i dont wanna be trying to snipe something with one. and an AR dosent pack as much of a punch.

  • saiga ak's have a bolt hold open...

  • ok wow watched the vid all i got to say is the ak is a decent gun for countries that want to shoot at americans most countries that the united states has been affiliated with in arms deals and so forth use the m16A1-A2 series rifle germany england france italy all use bull pups the swiss use a sig standard platform rifle i use a M4A1 the AK not accurat that why most hajis spray and pray train with one before you talk you need to learn the ins and outs of each its not whats better its what fits!!

  • None of the two are better than eachother. Just better in different environments. The AK47 has a larger bullet with a bigger punch. Great for 150 yards or less. Where as the M16/AR15 have a smaller yet faster .223 round. this would result in a longer range and more accurate cluster. It just depends on the situation you are in.

  • (clearing throat) tex grebner here bringing you my amateur opinion now, I have never been in a situation where my life depended on an AK or AR and I have never trained with an AR but its inferior as a war fighter. Now I may not be a seasoned war fighter myself, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night and my chest rigs and camo just came in the mail.

heres a citizen warrior looking out for you

  • You have some very good points. I think either the AK or the AR can do a great job. I really think it's a matter of training. If you use the AK a lot then I think it will work well for you. Also the AK is such a tough rifle that can shoot dirty. I also like the knock down power of the AK. I prefer the AR myself because of the accuracy and lack of recoil and the ability to put a fast accurate second and third shot. I like how the stock is inline with the barrel, helps with the muzzle rise.

  • I have neither, & I've shot neither. But with the possible collapse of order, I'll probably need more than my shotgun and handgun. I've read and talked a lot about the two, and I lean to the Kalashnikov

If I am caught in a muddy or sandy environment, the AR will probably be useless but not the AK

I don't consider the accuracy of the AR to be important. At over 100 yards, why do I need all that magazine unless I can't aim? A Garand seems better for that.

    Prefer to buy American, but.......

  • @MrStrictlyStock Ah Jesus, this yokul thinks he is fuckin Rambo just because he's fired a gun in daddy's back yard and is wearing tiger stripes. My ear for dialects may be a bit off, but I will guess he is American. With no "AR-15/M-16 format" per say. He almost had me with the cowboy hat but after viewing this video I aint impressed. Neither the AK nore the AR are "the perfect weapon" thusly the debate over which is best is nigh irrelevant. But the AK is the better buy for the price.

  • Sounds like you need an FAL Tex :)

  • seriously....i think any1 that says operating a gun, any gun, is hard needs to re evaluate their intelligence. its ridiculous. wtf it hurts me to think about it. i dont want to sound condescending to any1 but it hurts your gun rights in america to speak about the difficulty of use. ive got to say it....but guns are as simple to be safe and used as a kitchen knife lol

  • "I've never trained on an AR15"

    Nuff said.

  • tex is a legend XD

  • i dont realy know just what i have studyed up on the debate of both i always see ak vs ar but its always ak 47 what about ak 74 vs ar? the 74 was russia answer to the

ak vs ar question. i wonder witch is better. personaly i dont own eather the 47 has a bigger round do you really need that fast of a fallow up shot on the same guy? i own a compensated yugo sks same rd as 47 but 47 has 16 in barrel mine is 23 in i have no problem hitting stuff and the compensaort make no jumping its like a 22

  • AK o AR?. personally i like the AR , both have disadvantages and advantages though i dont have formal training, just the Marine Corps and my time in Iraq but do note civilian AR's are different from military M4's the .223 Remington umc or what have you is far from the MUCH higher pressure rounds used the military. even the bullet weight 55gr vs 77gr. that are in use now with excellent results.i guess if your gonna shoot shoot .223 not 5.56 nato then yes an AK would be better for a civilian.

  • the platform is outsanding and i trust me life w/ it ...if i was out gunned it would be only because i was outskilled , not a malfunction of arms

  • i dont have a formal training , just the army. and i own a ak ..I choice it due to reliablity and plane an simple performance. It performs flawless and that after 1000 rounds and not 1 FTF not one....the stock sights are bad. i put 100 scope on it and had low hope and it performed outstanding...15 shot in 3in round at 100yrds and im a average shot....i would trust me life on that platform of this rifle and that i whent w/ a arsenal ak , all new parts and good quality....the weapon platform

  • In my opinion the AK is better in the field. I had buddies whose M4's were constantly fucked up in the sand. Never saw a haji field stripping his AK because the fucker would not fire/cycle etc. I own both, but have had nothing but issues with the AR ask TMH if he has ever had issues with his SBR.

  • The Ruger 10/22 owns the AK and that is what a real operator uses..... Just sayin.

  • Tex, i personally own two AK's, a 47 and a 74. i also have 2 bushmaster AR's. i've shot gongs at 400 yards with all four of them, i'd have to side with cajun, the 5.56 or .223 is a much flatter shooting, very reduced recoil cartridge. the lesser recoil calls for quicker reorientation of the path of travel. i think you should get a bushmaster, and re-take your "tactical shooting course" with it. you'd learn a lot.

  • I currently own and use both. I'm not opposed to either but.... What about accuracy, recoil, range? I've shot enough to know ARs own the AK on those assuming you're using the 7.62x39. Also, other points to consider AK own on price until you get one from Arsenal or Krebs and then you're talking a $1K for a gun that I've never seen shoot better than 200/300yds or so?

  • I Have used both the AR and AK quite a bit. I feel the AR is my choice for most circumstances However the AK would be my End of the world gun. On that note one of the short comings of the AK is lack of High Quality Ammo and lack of a Peep sight with a longer sight radius. If those things are resolved through moding or etc. The AK would be my choice for Tactical Ops. One thing I would like to also point out is AK's often lack good workmanship from the manufacturer. My Stag-15 has yet to Jam.

  • Comment removed

  • but i still like your videos

  • I rather have a BAR or M1GRAND than either the AK or AR.

  • Tex is a tool bag.

  • you are a complete asshole.

  • @derekgrebner87 you're also fat

  • Having owned both. I have more faith in my AK to get the job done and have fewer problems while doing it. I believe my AK would function longer without cleaning than my AR. However, you also have to bring ammunition type into the consideration and where you plan to use the rifle. The best thing you can do is to just own both. And why not they are both proven systems.

  • You have mentioned an AK and an AR in the same video. By default, you have already thrown intelligent debate out the window before you even asked for it, lol.

  • Tex, you're so handsome

  • Both rifles got nothing on EVERYONES PISTOL!!! The rifle is just another excuse to go back to your pistol :p

  • Might be the British Soldier in me, but FAL > AK/AR. Of course, I'm even less qualified than you tex, having never seen combat, never used a FAL, and never handled an AR or AK.

L85A2 (SA80) is the only one I know, maybe one day it'll crop up as an online meme (SA80 vs Stey AUG maybe :D )

  • @HerbWalker yea same here. The firearm your better trained in that would be the firearm your better using.

  • The most effective weapon is the one YOU are WELL trained on.

  • Sorry guys but he obviously said "its about time to piss people off" stop getting so asshurt about the same argument thats been around for years, use what you like.

  • M16 is better at speed reloading cuz the clip falls out with the click of a button with ur trigger finger.

  • I own both the AK and the AR and in my opinion if you take one person that is properly trained in both systems, that person will be just as effective with one or the other. As regarding to having one person untrained with either weapon, the person will adapt quicker to the AK rather than the AR. But in such aspects both of the systems are as just reliable than the other when properly maintained.

  • AK is better, but in North America, the logistics don't support it as well as the AR. Better get used to using an AR.

  • Great video!

  • Tex has trolled you all. Controversy=views.

  • Personally I feel like you're talking about 2 different weapons platforms that have no business being compared to one another. The AK is simple, but the AR-15 is not as complicated a platform as some would have you believe. I can assemble an AR from a pile of parts in 30 minutes with minimal tools. I've never (in 12 years) seen a bolt hold open failure on an AR as long as quality mags are used. Left and right side charing handles can also be employed on the AR in conjuction with a T handle.

  • ak big disadvantage is the cartridge its accurate to about 300 yards a .223 is accurate to about 600, a 74 would be a better comparisin to the m16 due to cartridge simalatities

  • @ablemancanada Actually the Golani AK shoots the 5.56. Comparing a AR and a Golani would be more ideal.

  • @Halo2100 i think the ar should be chamberd in .243 win as should most asault rifles, managable recoil and more power than the .223

  • imo ar 15 platform is a more versatile. i can think of 10 cals you can change the 15 in to just by pulling two bolts. second, your comparing a riflemans rifle to a lead chucker. me personally i like the controls of the ar over the ak. imho

  • IMO AR's have better controls. Reloading from an empty mag can be accomplished much quicker with an ar compared to an ak. Not that ak mag changes are slow but if you take the average person and give them the same amount of training on either weapon, they will have the ar up and running from a empty mag much quicker. Also if you maintain your AR-15 it is a very reliable weapon. I have never once had a malfunction with my issure M-16A2. Or my DPMS M-4.

  • AK

  • i like the vid but i think i would rather list to someone with real combat experience with both the rifle sorry man.

  • AK is good for the everyday warrior, but AR is for special forces......On a positve note I like both a lot and plan on getting a AK-74 soon to go with my KAC ar15.

  • I have a Saiga .223 kinda like a baby AK, it was inexpensive, it's reliable and durable. The piston AR style rifles (P.O.F, LWRC) seem to overcome the reliability issues I've seen brought up with AR's that use the direct impingement gas system. One day I hope to have both, the best of both worlds...

  • also another thing the ar15 has a bolt release and you can quickly move it from safe to fire. please use one before you talk about it.

  • I HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE NOT THE SAME. MY OPINION COUNT? LOL

  • AK is a simple weapon made for simple people! AK = SHIT

  • When you need the last round lock-out it's "probably" going to fail you? Where the hell did you pull that from? Never had a single jam, misfire, or malfunction of any kind from my AR aside from the fact that I can't release the magazine with my finger because of bullshit California law. I have not seen any infantry complaints about the m-16 not locking back. I like the AK better especially the 74 but I just don't like that one point you made.

  • NOTHING NEW : ( TIRED OF STUPID DISCUSSIONS. IF I WANTED TO WASTE TIME LISTENING TO SOME IDIOD PREACH ID WATCH A NUTHINFANCY VID

  • I don't think someone who has never seen combat AND doesn't even own an AR15 should be making comparison videos about these two rifles...

  • @CajunCatfish12 does your ar15 even have sights?

  • @derekgrebner87 yes of course

  • @derekgrebner87 wow you suck something awful.....eat shit

  • @CajunCatfish12 1000% agreed with Cajun.I find your videos entertaining however a 2 or 3 day combat carbine course hardly makes you a expert on the subject. That's compounded by the fact you don't own an AR. I see your point but gotta side with catfish.

  • @CajunCatfish12

    Second that

  • @CajunCatfish12 totally agree if he has no combat experience why is he even talking about it "well i took classes" lmfao. as far as qcb or any combat other than spray and pray the AR wins hands down. not to say the Ak isnt a good weapon, it is. i have had only a couple malfunctions with my m4. the bolt catch has never failed on my M4. the best is the simply safety. i can have my M4 off safe fire 2 rounds and back on safe before the average ak shooter can have his set to fire.

  • @CajunCatfish12 Anyone is allowed an opinion. I too have never seen combat, and I dont own an AK. I have a different opinion then TEX. It seems that people have given up on the AK 47 7.62 x 39 and will only compare the AK 74 5.45 with an AR now days. In that light the AK 74 in 5.45 is close to an AR. My next rifle will be Saber Defence A4 20 inch barrel so it can deliver all the damage the 5.56 was meant to do to bad guys.

  • Hey Grebner, at least you can state with confidence that your able to hit the broad side of a barn from inside with that SOB. Jesus H Christ, now I'm going to have to go relax by watching "Red Dawn." .. "Wolverines!"

  • to be honest you can get good with either i think it all depends on what you can perfect! i personally enjoy bolt action single shot .308! with the .223 you have a more precise shot past 200 yards with the 7.62x39 you have a less precise shot past 200 yards but the rifle can survive almost any kind of punishment as an added benefit very few jam's, compared to the .223 that has to be cleaned constantly just to keep it from jamming! either weapon can take down an enemy you only need 1 good shot!

  • AK-47 wins, the cheapest ak's are as/more reliable than the most expensive ARs

  • @hugo2x Ahhh No not so much.................

  • i own both, i like both, both have their advantanges and disadvantages, i'd like to comes those two against the AK-74 and the Galil

  • First of all good video second please say in the comments clearly your ending of Ted nature blood brothers or whatever the fuck you are talking about,it drives me crazy trying to figure out what you are talking about

  • @brownbear696969 Think he's saying Ted Nugent. he's wearing a hat like Uncle Ted's anyway ;)

  • I think last shot hold open is overrated. I thought it would be a big issue back before I started doing a lot of shooting. Once my adrenaline gets pumping, whether I'm shooting my WASR, a family member's M16 (not AR-15, M16 VN style), or my buddies Daniel Defense AR15, I don't notice I'm empty until I pull the trigger and the gun no longer goes bang. For the AK thats the gun going "click." On the AR, it's just pulling the trigger and it not doing anything.

  • Rednecks trying to be serious, turns out for a hilarious video.

  • if you can brush your teeth you can use an M16/AR without any problems.... just because a rifle can be used as a crowbar or wielded by an 8 year old doesn't mean it's a better rifle for someone trained to use one

  • That is actually a great video you made. Very logical in theory and explanation. I think you were spot on. The AK is without question a more simplicstic design and therefore will always be easier to manipulate and maintain than an AR.

That being said, the AR, though more complex in design and function, is a very robust and reliable design, and once mastered, has several key advantages over the AK

    Thanks for the video TEX

  • 1.all ar15 contrls can be done without leaving the pistol grip

(safety, mag relase and even hitting the ping pong paddle if you use that magpul b.a.d)

2.the 556 is a far better round unlike the faggot ass 7.62x39 which is in accuraite as fuck

3.the ar has better stocks and better stock length unless your like 5 feet tall

4.the ar has a far better mag and it is a lot easy'r to cary a bunch of em

5.you can mount an optic easy'r

    6. james yeager is a faggot

    7. you have a wasr so your a joke!!!

  • Have you ever fired an AR15? I can't wait for the end of the world.

  • @semiautoriflelover RIGHT . lol.

  • Thanks for saying nothing about the AK74 in your vid, dumbass. Now all the AR fanboys are going to sweep it under the rug and compare the out dated 7.62 AK to the 5.56 AR. Please, do anything but mention the 5.45, it's only been around since the mid 70's is all.....

  • @762Fanatic2 I want to get an AR in 5.45x39, shit you can get an AR in any cal you want really. My friend has had a 7.62X39 AR15 colt since 1985.

  • @semiautoriflelover I know lol. There are lots of people talking about accuracy and ammo weight. An AK74m with a posp or pk-a is just as effective as an AR.

  • @762Fanatic2 I know a guy who has a spikes tactical upper in 5.45 and with his 4X scope he shoots out to 600 meters, he hasn't had any stoppages in thousands of rounds. I think that would be cool to have both 5.45 and 5.56 uppers, heck I will throw in a 6.5 Grendel upper for 1000 meters. You can't go wrong with a AK74 or an AR15 in my opinion. The ammo is so light.

  • @semiautoriflelover I wonder what kind of accuracy can be obtained with the AR in 5.45. I just have a concern shooting the corrosive ammo in the design of the AR

  • @762Fanatic2 Whats the 5.45x39, whats that, lol. It is surprising so many that talk about AR and AK are unaware of the 5.45x39 cartridge. When making a comparison of the two AK and AR it is hard to accurately compare the 5.56 and 7.62. The 5.45 closes the gap and is a much more accurate comparison of the two. Great comment you made

  • @762Fanatic2 TEX only believes in what he owns.. Even tho the AK 74 is a better gun than the 47.. He'll put down anything that he doesnt have.. How can a guy compare when he only has the one?? Buy and run the Ar and ak74 bf you put lame ass vids out there like you know what your talking about.

  • ak in 5.56 is best for wrol and shtf

  • I do agree with much of your claims on the AK47. The AK platform is the best rifle any one could ever have because it is simple to operate, low cost and the size of the round hits hard. Some AKs that sell for just under $500.00 can get 2" groups at 100 yards.

    I think that's awesome...

  • This isn't bias at all...what a joke. AR all day.

  • Good to see you Tex, Your looking fit ! Ak is my battle rifle of choice !!! Mine has never failed to fire with any ammo I feed it, and that's all I got to say about that.

  • AK = Superior in war

AR = Superior in competitive shooting

  • @Boneyman AK and AR have gone to war many times, and the AK hardly holds the lead

  • @DaytonaRoadster I wouldn't say that at all. We've only really seen the AK being used in the hands of ill equipped and unprofessional forces (vietcong, somali rebels, taliban, al qaeda). While the AR is currently in use with well trained professionals (US military, Canadian Forces, Denmark military, and various spec ops). The fact that the AK "hardly holds the lead" in the hands of unprofessionals would mean that it would be devasting in the hands of professionals.

  • For a shtf situation, rely on an AK. The chances of it failing (if made to original specs) are extremely low. An AR is a great gun, but to me, it's more suited to a military force that has the ability to get replacement parts whenever they need them (speaking in terms of logistics here, not the skills of the user). It would be terrible to be at your base camp when society has broken down, and the firing pin retaining pin of your AR snaps. Good luck ordering a few online at that point.

  • i choose the ar rifle

  • I have both an AK and an AR, and i love the way my AR looks, the way it shoots, and just how the rifle feels. But when shit hits the fan i would much rather have my AK in my hands because i know how reliable it is. People need to set their pride aside and ask themselves, is an AR really a better rifle for WROL? The only advantage i see is being able to scavenge ammunition from the military if it collapses. And as far as accuracy, you are not going to be making 300+ yard shots for defense.

  • The AR is like an adjustable rate mortgage. Great right now, but unpredictable later.

The AK is like a fixed rate mortgage. Not quite as exciting, but predictable & dependable for a very long time.

AK for me , thank you.

  • IMO if you had trained as much with an AR you would be a faster reloader

with an AR. On semi the AR is much more acurate than the AK. On auto

it is more acurate and more controlable. The AR has longer range.

The 7.63 by 39 is better at shooting through barriers but thats why I

    run an AR-10

  • the ak is more reliable and the ar requires too much cleaning i have aks i dont have a single ar. i have questioned several battle hardened soldiers about the issue tho, its about 60/40 in the aks favor, but thats just the ones ive spoken too, plus i dont have any problems with the ak sights

  • Thumbs up if you think Tex should get an AR.

  • @phgHunter

One of the IL manufacturers should give him one !!

A bunch of ARs are made there

  • @phgHunter

Thumbs up if you think Tex should get an HD cam.

  • everything has its up and downs whats available price maintenance performance proficiency and many other factors the last one being preference both good in their own respective right nothing else i can say

  • Tex, I wish you would have mentioned which rifle has the most annoying fan-boys and forum experts.

  • Alaska vs Arkansas

  • @mhayd990

    .. nice !!

  • Crap

  • great vid man. this could get nasty. I see how what ever someone uses most is what they would choose. So most of our soldiers MAY preffer the AR. but I enjoy the AK more. I have shot both a decent amount. I think the AK has it going on.

  • You saw other students in training, so don't judge the AR platform only on how students run it. They do that to the AK way too often !

Other than that, I agree with you

Take person X off the street, give them a rifle and 10 mins of training and they will feel comfortable with the AK sooner than an AR

You didn't really bring up things like comfort, clearing malfunctions, repair, parts availability, ammo, etc which all weigh in on the general debate

Operation specifically though.. AK wins IMHO

  • I do have to say that I love my M4, but a well built AK I will choose hands down. The firepower, durability and reliability is superb to the AR platform. Down to the nuts they just always work. I would never hesitate just grabbing a AK off the ground and rely on it!!!!

  • The AK is a great weapons platform, but try reloading in the dark after you've pulled the trigger only to realize you've shot your last round and "click" signaled your enemy you must reload.

Also, check the stats, head shots by US infantry against terrorist in Afghanistan are common, prompting an investigation about executions.

Not going to happen with the AK crowd.

  • I run the m16 platform in the philippines, NEVER FAILS ME! the reason Im still alive.

  • Hi Tex!....I have both, each has its own plus's. For instance the AR is more accurate. The Ak has more raw power. The AR is modular. If you have a failure, you can use parts from dozens of manufacturers, and they will fit. With the AK, being that they are made in many different countries, parts are not easily swapable. The AK is almost impossible to put out of action, short of running over it with a tank, and I am not sure that would put it out of business. I like them both!

  • never ran an ak, but my AR is pretty awesome. minus the full auto its just like the M-4 I used in iraq. :) the AK is great too tho just boils down to personal preference.

  • Well this will really make the s*%# fly... How about a modern rifle with a fast, lightweight round (5.56), clean, reliable operation, very lightweight and low-drag, and easy to operate? How about the best of both worlds? Is it the AK-74? Perhaps, but how about the much overlooked and very awesome... Kel-Tec SU-16C? I believe that for the armed citizen, especially in a WROL situation... it rocks!

  • tgo love your vids.but if you have never owned a ar how can you make that argument? imo epic fail

  • @rob13589 do you understand that I am talking about the operation of the rifle lends itself more to the task.

  • An operator's rifle?

So the phone company has these rifles too?

  • @CMLovejoy Operator implies personal operational readiness and extraordinary willingness to successfully employ as a military capability across distance for some duration into situations, circumstances, conditions, and influences of hardship and hazard. The employment of such design operational capability the military member is trained and qualified to perform typically involves accomplishing a mission associated with war or peacetime operations

  • @cory07ink Whoa! All that just to answer phones all day? I'll never look at being put on hold, the same way again.

    So they're like "Tactical Operators"?

Why do "tactical operators" always talk funny when I'm on the phone with them?

  • @CMLovejoy bahahahahah!!

  • AR upper chambered in 5.45x39 =win. End of line.

  • Isn't it illegal to own a fully automatic weapon?

  • @gg2badul1 what...?

  • You've never ran a ar15 but u think the ak is superior? Good luck with the comments!

  • Most of your videos blow, I would say at least 99% of them. This video was actually decent though.

  • i smell butthurt, the AR is much better in keeping on target and faster in mag changes, but i will give the AK penetration power over the AR unless your using "green points" but simplicty can also be a bad thing

  • The best weapon is the one that you are able to operate properly under stress. If I were judging this based on issuing a weapon platform to a random man on the street to defend me and my country than I would rely on the AK. I also believe that with proper training there are lots of advantages to a nice 5.56 system be it the high velocity and low shot-drop over several hundred yards, or even personal preference. They are both outstanding rifles and I greatly respect the freedom they both bring.

  • personally I think the AR has a better reload motion in that it requires less movement But the T-handle (charging handle) is a very weak point in the AR platform because of guys breaking them off, often due to extended charging handles adding un-need torque on a part that is meant to move straight back and not off to the side, where in comparison the AK "charging handle" is part of the bolt carrier and not an added part. I like the AR better though due to plethora of parts and accessories

  • prepare for the asshurt

  • Your opinion would count more if you had some experience on both.. Buy an Ar, Use it a little, see how it runs. Then give your opinion on which one you like more..Im just saying, cokeman and THM can give a real review, cause they own and run both.... I like my AR's but there is something about the feel of an AK, prolly why i have 3.

  • @cory07ink cokeman has been having some crazy troubles with his ak's, it's almost funny that his .223 is still going strong. I drooled over the krink for like 3 days, till his broke.

  • @m55js My next one is going to be a krink for sure..Those are so sweet looking and mean as hell. Thats true Cokeman has had some problems with his ak's. Ive never had any problems with mine.Just holding an Ak makes you feel like your holding history in your hand. But having said that i also love love my ar's...If i was going to be in a fight and i knew i could have time to clean, have time to up keep my AR 15 i'd take it every time. But if it was" red down" type deal.. Ak all day

  • Im just gonna sit back and watch the shit storm.

  • tex, the ar-15 is more accurate at ranges but is less reliable with little maintanance where as the ak-47 is less accurate but more reliable under little to no maintanance.

  • Been done to death, enuff said

  • I say that you are only as good as the weapon you train with.... I have had my AR for about three months, so I am still new to it. I chose to build mine from the ground up so that I could learn how everything works. I would love to get my hands on an AK just because I think it is a beautiful rifle. I just think it comes down to shooter preference and how well you train on your weapon system. I think the AR has more potential for failure were the AK has less.

  • The best rifle is the one you have in your hand when the shit starts.

  • @BTeamHooligan don't be a faketriot
