Having Vic sing this really means something. Since Vic does the voice of Ed in FMA, it's like Ed is singing, and it truely tells the story of FMA, of their struggles and sacrifices and mistakes. Ed, being the older brother, does blame himself for what happened to Al, making this song one of the most beautiful and meaningful pieces of poetry. After all, song is poetry.

Vic credits the fan in his Rumors panel and on the actual CD

Vic sang the song but the credit never got out to the person who actually wrote the lyrics. A fan made them while listening to the instrumental version of the song thats in the show. Vic got hold of the lyrics and asked the fan if he could sing it and forgot to credit the fan for everything.

I know this song is Ed's and Al's theme but I can't help but imagine this with Fai D. Florite from Tsubasa Chronicles. Vic voices over him and Fai had a twin brother who died in the manga. I don't know the full story but Fai seems to be very guilty about it. This song is so sad and beautiful.
